Enjoyed the concert here tonight in the Heaven location. Loved the music. Bartender was great. Drinks were fantastic. Free water was absolutely the best (more businesses should be so kind). Restrooms were clean. The only issue is there seemed to be no accommodations at all for people with disabilities. I was there with my kid who has had 11 surgeries on his legs in the last 14 years. There is no way for anyone to sit down and see the state which is a real and literal pain for my kid. I asked one man who was working there if there was an elevator available and informed him that my kid had disabilities (we've got the tag in the car and everything). He gave me an annoyed look and said no. Later I found out that the man was letting people with canes out a different set of doors. If only I had known that we had to flag our disabilities to gain access to ADA accommodation... Yes, my kid has a cane but he doesn't always use it because he doesn't always need it. read more

I've been to quite a few concert venues throughout the SE and The Masquerade isn't high on the list. Some positives - love the affordable and safe parking garage right outside the complex. I like that you get screened with security as you enter the courtyard and then you can walk around. The food stand in the corner was priced well and had nice service. The negatives were really the venue itself. "dark and dirty" were how I would describe it. It just felt like no one really cared about keeping it up and the audio wasn't great either although you never know whose fault that is. read more

TLDR: They put several people in the wrong show! Employees couldn't care less about you and don't listen! Went to see a concert for my favorite band, it was one of the few areas that they were close to. The employees couldn't care less about you or your event, I asked multiple people multiple times if I was in the right line, and the tickets even took, but they put us in the wrong show. I know several other people also got sent to the wrong line too... parking is good though I guess. The band did great, but for both people looking to see a show / performing, I recommend you look elsewhere! read more

I'm not sure what type of things to expect from a standing room concert venue. I don't have high standards really. So here is what worked for me when I went to Heaven: Parking - the address takes you to a garage, and level 3 is where you should park to take the breezeway over, then down the elevator or flight of stairs. When you get to the bottom the masquerade venue is directly to the right. I was worried about safety seeing as though I was attending a concert by myself, but when you arrive there is security checking everyone's bag, and when you leave, as long as you don't linger too long, most everyone else is leaving too and heading to their cars in the same garage, so it won't feel like you're walking to your car alone. Venue/Show: drinks were priced at a fairly normal amount. I got a cider and a cocktail and didn't feel as though they were overpriced for what I got. The sound at the show I went to wasn't that great, but I watched from the second level, which had less people, restrooms and another bar. I had everything I needed steps away from where I wanted to stand for the show. read more

Genuinely one of the worst venues I've ever been to. Rude employees, long lines, NO sense of crowd control. I went to a sold out show and they had no idea what to do with all of the people, shouldn't the venue be prepared to deal with their own set maximum capacity?? I came here for my first show ever on Friday and I can attest to my experience in Heaven. I went with a friend who comes here all the time and has been in heaven, hell and purgatory. First thing when you walk in its in such a cool area. Underground Atlanta is really cool and then the inside of Heaven is awesome. Giant floor with 2 balconies and a bar. Went to the bar and got immediate service which was awesome. Speakers throughout the show were awesome and we were near the barricade. Such a great set up and a unique experience for me since I had only ever been to stadium concerts. We parked in the deck attached and for $10 what a steal! We parked on the 3rd floor and walked right over the venue. Definitely get there early to avoid lines and a parking mess. read more

I came here recently to see Charlotte Sands and the venue honestly stressed me out a little bit. They have three different stages: Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. Our concert was in Purgatory, which is the smallest venue and was really intimate. That space itself was fine and reminds me of some of the more intimate concert venues in Athens, but getting down there felt intimidating. You have to exit from the parking deck and cross over a bridge that feels like you're in the middle of nowhere and then down into basically a pit with a rundown looking exterior and not very well labeled signs for each area. If my husband hadn't already been I wouldn't have really known how to get to Purgatory since the spot is a little overwhelming. None of the security guards or people checking tickets were really helping direct anything either, which is fine, I just felt like I needed a bit of direction for myself. The drinks at the bar were pretty par for the course as far as pricing goes, I even thought they were a bit on the cheaper side compared to some other concert venues in Atlanta. I got a whiskey sour and it was good so no complaints there! read more

My husband and I used to love going to themed parties in college, and it's something we have missed since graduating. Coming to events at The Masquerade has changed everything! This venue hosts all sorts of fun "raves" and encourages attendees to dress up and go crazy. We've been to a Gimme Gimme Disco and a Broadway Rave now and they have been some of our favorite nights out in Atlanta. If you're drinking, be sure to pregame, as the drinks are pretty pricey (although not crazy for a concert venue). There's nowhere else in Atlanta we've been able to party quite like this. Went to see Baylene Levine on Sunday at Masquerade Heaven. It was similar to a concert but really more like a fun, controlled party. It went better than I thought it would, from a parent's POV. Parking was easy. The line outside went fast. We went through security and it's okay to use bags that are not clear. Again, clear bags are not required. We were surprised by a guest appearance from little yachty. After the show, some of the guys stayed behind and took photos and talked with fans. They kept using my son's phone to do selfies so that was cool. See photos of Peej, Double, and Kyle. Security guards were present and visible. A lot of parents accompanied their kids, so that was great, too. I felt safe the whole time. In fact, I felt safer inside the Masquerade than out in the streets. Like little boaty told us, you gotta stay up out them streets if you can't take the heat, cause it gets cold like Minnesota! AC was flowing in here so that's a plus! My only complaint was that there was very limited seating and my back was hurting me from standing for three or so hours. But the show was a lot of fun and we were glad to be at this YouTuber's first show. read more

I saw this venue kick out two asian men before the headliner went (on a really empty show tbh). One of them was drunk and threw up and I guess made a mess in the bathroom? But who cares ? This is a concert venue people will get drunk and throw up. I honestly thought it was racially motivated as I saw staff members speaking to a white woman beforehand. People pay their hard earned money on concerts and want to have fun, sometimes they have a little too fun but that's life. As long as no one is physically hurt who cares. It's a bathroom, men don't have to be drunk to make a mess there anyways lol. read more

Just attended my first show here and had no idea what to expect. The check in process was very efficient. You're first met by a guard who verifies your negative covid test or vaccine. They require you to have that and ID before proceeding any further. Once I cleared the first area, I proceeded down to the security clearance where I went through a metal detector. It was simple enough and very quick. Next, I finally arrived at the entrance to the venue. My ticket was scanned and I was there. It was early, so people were still filing in after I arrived. There wasn't a line at the bar yet. Again, very quick service. The sound was great and the security presence made me feel like they were serious about making sure nothing happened to make anyone uncomfortable. I appreciated the attention to detail. Haunted House fest was one of the best concerts I've been too in quite some time...was an almost 4 hour long event. Did not have any food but water was handed out so that's a plus because it was a very hot in there. Smaller venue so tightly compact. Amazing artist. read more

Saw a few badass shows in Hell and Purgatory here. I'm old school and saw my first concert ever at the OG location on N Ave. It was Biohazard in 1990, but I like this new location as well just not as much as the OG of course. Shows I've seen here at the new location were HR from Bad Brains and 3TEETH plus a few others. Met HR and Lex before both shows. Killer experience, and love both bands. I recommend this venue if bands you dig are playing. Decent cocktail prices too! read more

My first time attending a show here (My show was at Heaven). I live a couple hours away so I didn't know what to expect so I arrived an hour before show time. Next time I'll know it's a short ride from I-20. I parked a half a block away because I didn't realize it was located with access from the parking deck BUT I'm glad I parked where I did (more on that later). They didn't allow anyone in the venue until show time (8pm). Show time, again, was 8pm. Almost two hours of the DJ (who was phenomenal by the way), the opening act (a T.I. artist), I was (almost) face to face with Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def. As an auntie, the standing around for two hours was a lot (thank God for the DJ) but Mos made it worth while. It was a phenomenal set. The sound was good, the temperature was comfortable, and the venue was clean. I did not utilize the restrooms so I don't know what they looked like and nor did I drink because I had to drive two hours back home afterwards. Overall, I enjoyed the venue. Is it a maze to get into? Yes. You can park in the parking deck which is convenient going in. Coming out? Meh. I walked my half a block, hopped in my ride and hit the highway. People were still trying to get out. I'd come here again though. I really wanted to come back for the Rakim/Big Daddy Kane set but work called. I look forward to coming back again. read more

The music sounded AWFUL; I don't care about loud, I wouldn't even mind slightly out of tune, but the mastering and eq was horrendous. You like bass? You might like this; you want to hear literally anything else? good fucking luck. For the concert I went to the harsh vocals were pretty much inaudible (for both bands that had harsh vocals); the guitars/mid frequency bass was practically silent, only audible in solo sections All you can hear is the bass guitar (specifically ~ 30-50hz) and the drums. For Ne Obliviscaris the violin and the clean vocalist were also audible. Additionally, the speakers are awful, there are a ton of screamer frequencies and low spots, you will not be getting anything resembling passable audio quality. The clean vocalist couldn't stay in tune because there was practically no melody to reference, it sounded like he was singing in the wrong key until I realized where they were in the song (he was singing correctly, only slightly out of tune) A mic'ed washing machine would sound pretty much identical To be clear, this isn't the fault of the bands (unless they brought their own person to do the mastering) No band could make this place sound even remotely good with this bad of a mastering job The event I went to was Ne Obliviscaris with Beyond Creation and The Omnific in the Hell music hall It was meh on fun factor, so unless this was some one time shit audio technician I would not recommend this place at all. read more

Venue is tough. Park on the 3rd level and walk across the breezeway to the venue or @ least top of the stairs which starts a line. It's flat and there's no good place to stand unless you're front and center or far in the back to look over heads. Sound was decent. Cash bar is pricey. I had one damn Jamison and Ginger for $8 in a small childlike cup. Security was thorough and polite but they literally only pat you down and open doors right when the show is supposed to start. That adds @ least 45 mins to start time. I was there to see NoName, EltonAura and her crew. My friend is in her band so it was extra special to hang and see different views of the stage. Basically the music aspect was amazing. She performed great songs with high energy and even returned for one more. read more

We visited for a concert in April. The venue was spacious and had enough space to be in the crowd or have your own personal space. The room was cool and comfortable temperature. The speakers were LOUD. I would recommend ear protection if that bothers you. The venue is in the underground. You go through security and get a wrist band if you're over 21. Our ID's were checked throughly. I recommend parking in the garage. It's connected to the venue and an Uber was $50 on a Saturday night to drive 10 minutes. read more

As someone who attended several shows at the Masquerade in O4W, this location leaves a lot to be desired. I'm glad that someone found a use for the Underground, but I can't say that this is a good location for Masquerade. Entering the courtyard was like entering a haunted house for strip malls. Underground has an empty vibe, even with people milling around. I went to see Big Freedia in the Heaven room. (There is another room across the court named Purgatory.) I'd been in this space when it was a club in the early 2000's (I was dating the promoter at the time and had to come for moral support.) It didn't look much different - dark and wide open. There were several makeshift bars (the kind you see at cash bar events), and our bartender was super nice and fairly quick. Because the lines for drinks were so long, my friends and I got two drinks at the same time (bless them for allowing us to double-fist.) The downside to having the makeshift bar is the lack of cold drinks and limited liquor selection. The selection was okay but it was definitely basic. The show was great. The sound was excellent and although I was sweating up a storm, I wasn't really that hot, so the AC was definitely on blast. This was confirmed once the concert ended and people were milling about because as people left the area, the room got cooler and cooler. The parking for the event was $10 in the Underground parking garage which is likely typical. And there were some guys selling mini-donuts in the courtyard if you wanted a snack. I enjoyed the show and I have no complaints about the experience, except the feel of the space. Underground is no fun, and after the concert was over, leaving was a bit sad because there's no energy around you because of all those empty storefronts. I went here to see Protoje along with some other up and coming reggae artistes. absolutely the spot to see your fave band or musicians that aren't yet mainstream. Very unique and intimate venue! I would recommend good walking shoes if you're seeing a band- we waiting a little over an hour to get in but the venue opened their doors 30m before the show started. If this is your first time- there is one main entrance where you have to walk over the bridge and under an arch that says the underground, metal detectors and then there are three difference stages (that could have different artists/shows playing) Hell, Heaven and Purgatory. In the Hell stage, the restrooms were downstairs (to the right of the bar) and had 6-7 stalls for women. Prepare to pay a pretty plenty for drinks but that's at any venue! Prepare for heavy traffic of course on the interstate. Parking garage right next to venue! read more

This is my first time coming to this venue. My first impression of the space was that I'm not impressed. It's very hot inside once people start gathering. You have go back outside to get a little air. Considering this spot is in what used to be called... the Alley of Underground, it's really no air flow down there. The restrooms are horrible and nowhere to sit while you wait for the show to start. Well they may have sitting considering what event their hosting. Also theirs NOWHERE to grab a bite to eat. You have to understand, Underground itself is closed down right now for remodeling. So therefor nothing is open around this space. Now! Will I come back? Of course I will. I still love this place. I can't remember when I started going to The Masquerade in it's older location on North Avenue. I do remember many, many years of great nights, great concerts and fun events. Does anyone else remember those foam parties in Hell? The whole place would be filled up with foam and then you'd dance and the foam would go away and when it got to about your knees they'd fill it up past your head again. Wow. I remember having to sign waivers to go in there. The new location is a lot different than the Excelsior Mill but I am glad that they kept the three room: Heaven, Hell & Purgatory format. I don't like the cover charges for each room now though. I enjoyed the days when you'd get a ticket to see a show in Heaven and after the concert you could walk down to Hell (not pay another fee) and dance the rest of the night. To me, Purgatory was that quiet little spot you'd stop in to get away from the concert or club for a few minutes. Parking here is usually $10. Of course I prefer the free parking in the days of old but at least it's near the venue and secure. My only real complaint about parking is sometimes it takes forever, literally over an hour to get out. The last few times that I've been though, leaving was not a problem so maybe (hopefully), the slow exit process has been changed for good. I like the staff here. Everyone is always friendly to me. It makes the evening more enjoyable. I dislike clubs with unhappy, overbearing staff that seem like they don't want to be there. The Masquerade staff seems to enjoy the music scene and being at work there. The drink prices are reasonable, bartenders are good and fast. I've never had any problems here. The Masquerade is still one of my favorite clubs/venues in Atlanta. Thanks for keeping it going all of these years! read more

Decent venue with great drinks. Try to UBER here, even though their parking garage is affordable and gives quick access to club. Have been here recently for Masego concert and a RAW Artists Showcase and both have been great experiences. The layout features two floors, bars on both floors; where depending on the event/night... can make or break the experience IMO. The club is big in height but to get a good view/spot you may need to plan accordingly bc it can feel small, quick. There are stairs, not too narrow, but again... can be bothersome if here for a sold-out show. Don't fret and have your ID ready--the bartenders are GREAT. Down side to getting lit is their lack of food options close by. Which, depending on the night(again) there may be a food truck outside. No matter you're reason, it's worth a visit. read more

I went for the Ty Dolla Sign "Don't Judge Me Tour" (Masquerade Heaven). It was advertised that doors open at 7pm but they opened closed to 7:30-7:45pm. It's a huge open room with a small stage when you get in. The drink line was chaotic and long. One part of the bar only had one person servicing it. There were no actual well defined lines so I left the line because it was crazy. There is standing room only but you get a stamp so you can go in and out as you please. There is seating in the pavilion area right outside the door. There was also like a food truck type style vendor outside the door where you could purchase food. It gets a bit loud and unpredictable outside as there are 2 other venues feeding into the same center with events going on. I wouldn't recommend this venue for a concert because it's hard to see as the stage really isn't elevated, it was difficult to get drinks, although later in the night it was super easy. Lastly, the main person didn't come on until about 10:45pm ish so it was just frustrating standing, especially with so many others. Mostly, it was very hard to see and it wasn't enjoyable. Also, the elevator was broken when leaving so I had to climb 3+ flights of stairs with a knee stabilizers on from MPFL reconstruction surgery. The workers were so nonchalant about it and suggested I get to walking and take my time. Completely insensitive and they offered no solution to being non-ADA compliant. Will definitely not go to any concert or tour that is at this venue. read more

I was nervous about going here after reading some of the reviews but was very pleasantly surprised. The parking was easy and accessible and not too far at all from the venue. Our show was at Purgatory and it was a nice cozy space. There was a fair amount of seating to hang out before the show and a pretty reasonably priced bar for a venue ($6 for a beer, $8 for a whiskey ginger). The bartender was super nice too! My favorite thing is that they also had a big ole self-serve igloo full of water and cups available for people to grab whenever they wanted. Overall I was impressed! read more

While it's convenient that there are three venues in one place, I miss the old location more. The area seemed a lot more safe, and there also weren't a lot of homeless people roaming about. I literally had a homeless man try to guide me with unwarranted directions (which I didn't ask for in the first place) to the venue, and then he had the nerve to try to charge me money for that mess? Bye! Once you make it into the the building it's a little tricky to find everything, and then when you exit it's confusing because the doors you use to get into the building are locked. Chances are if you're at a show you're slightly inebriated, so that can be frustrating as well. There a little mix up about a meet and greet I purchased, but the staff was sweet about it and got it handled quickly and effectively. read more

Well, I know this is a music venue, but it's just... Eh, esta bien? I went here with my SO to go see my boy Jussie Smollett perform on his Sum of My Music tour in May. First, the show was supposed to start at 7pm or so we thought (that's what the ticket said). In reality it started at 8:30 pm! 8:30 guys! Second, there is basically standing room only in the Hell section of The Masquerade - even at the top of the venue, so if you need to take a break to sit, you are SOL, but I guess you can sit on the floor. Thirdly, most of the attendees were cool and enjoying the show, but one couple in particular thought it would be most appropriate to squeeze their frames RIGHT IN FRONT OF US when there was basically space for breathing and not being too close to the people in front of us. Ugh! I was glad when they made friends with the couple next to us and moved the heck out of the way and off of me! From other reviews, the late start seems to be common here. Once the show was underway I did enjoy myself and have a great time listening to June's Diary, Victory Boyd and - the main reason we came - Jussie Smollett!! They put on a hell of a performance (no pun intended) and June's Diary and Victory Boyd both have a new fan. Great job to all of you ladies! Jussie can really sing too and he gives you that MJ feel to his music! I love his music and sound! Unfortunately, my feet and legs started to feel some type of way by the end of the show because there wasn't room to change positions really and standing for so long that way just does a number to your muscles! I went here for Jussie, but unless there is a performer I'm really dying to see such as this, I would not go here again! I need a seat to be able to sit once in a while. I guess my next concert will be at Phillips or somewhere with not just standing room only. read more

You have to walk across a bridge which feels like it will collapse at any point, the elevators are so gross, I don't know why any artist would want to play here.
