Very disappointed with our experience here....we came to try instead of waiting in line at polar cave and we regretted it. $6 for a tiny cup of Ice cream. Also not a big variety of toppings...no rainbow sprinkles. Ice cream tasted fine but definitely way overpriced and not worth paying the price of what you could get a gallon of at the grocery store. Ice cream is good. Very small portions. A large sundae here is the size of a kiddie sundae outside of the Cape. Also, there is no shade after dinner - the umbrellas don't shield you from the sun at all. They should install an awning for their seating area. read more

Such a great ice cream shop on the cape! It's homemade ice cream and they have ice cream, soft serve, sorbet and frozen yogurt. I tried the vanilla soft serve and it was really delicious. We also tried the red raspberry ice cream which had chocolate bits inside. I don't think the raspberry was as great, but definitely recommend the soft serve. read more

Such a great ice cream option on the Cape! Really easy to get to since it's right on the Mashpee rotary. We came close to closing on a week night and it wasn't busy, but there were quite a few other families enjoying their ice cream. It's homemade (obviously ) and they have tons of flavor options! Open at noon until late. Crowds of customers have all kinds of room to hang out here without being on top of each other. The ice cream is good. Plenty of variety to choose from in hard packed. Soft serve on the other hand is chocolate, vanilla, twist. There is so much ice cream to choose from on the cape, and everyone is charging a premium. You need to have a reason to be outstanding other than just convenience. Convenience, Smitty's has in spades. Right on the round-about. With the exception of some hard pack mixers they do with candy treats, I did not find the choices in soft serve. I live in Ohio and many places do a bank of soft serve flavors. The staff like most spots are young teenagers. Don't yell at me 30 yards away to ask what I want. When at the window pay attention to me. Not your phone or the other co-worker yelling out to you what she is looking at on her social media. Maybe that will keep your focus on giving correct change. I might stop here again for convenience, not for a bargain, or originality. read more

The following is based on samples and observations alone. Smitty's offers your typical flavors of hard ice cream, and serves up soft serve ice cream, too. Nothing really stands out, though, and the flavors samples don't either. Two of the flavors sampled were coffee and ginger. The coffee had a strong and different kind of coffee taste to it. I didn't really like it. I wanted to try ginger, too, as the person in front of me in line said it was really good. It had a different flavor, like the coffee, but there was a rubbery piece of something that I had to spit out. Taste buds weren't dazzled, so no cones or frappes were purchased. The server at the window was extremely kind and helpful. After efficiently serving about six people in front of me, she willingly and kindly got the samples of flavors I wanted to try. She was friendly and was more than nice about getting my samples. (The service is the reason for two stars.) Maybe I'll visit Smitty's again sometime, and give it another try, but it just didn't satisfy my flavor taste buds this summer. read more

every time i visit the cape, i always have to stop at smitty's. today i tried the mint chip and was able to try the peanut butter cup and banana oreo. so many bussin flavors!!! deciding on a flavor is honestly the hardest part, but trust me when i say it: smooth sailing from there mate. no matter what flavor you choose, expect nothing but bliss. read more

I had ordered chocolate walnut ice cream (my favorite) earlier in summer and it was excellent...lots of walnuts. I ordered it today and after a few mouthfuls I thought they gave me the wrong ice cream...just plain chocolate (which I do not like plain) and thought a saw something after double checking the flavor. there was the tiniest piece of walnut. I then tasted it again and found another very tiny piece. They now have cut back to the point you can say there are no walnuts. My palate lost complete interest in it...for 8.00 including a tip I will never go back. buyer beware read more

I was already a fan of Smitty's ice cream, and was very familiar with their "flagship" location - plus they catered my wedding. Now that I have been to this Mashpee rotary location a couple of times, I can happily report that they offer the same (large) selection of unique and interesting flavors, tasty toppings, and great service. If you don't know already, the portions are generous and the quality of the ice cream is fantastic - creamy, flavorful, and packed with goodies. I have never had a bad experience at any Smitty's location - even when they're about to close, or have had a long night, the staff is always super friendly and happy to serve you. I find this extra amazing, since I imagine they have dealt with countless kids, spilled cones, and special requests by the time I roll-in two minutes after "closing time" asking for samples. But still, they welcome you and make you feel at-home. Last night we had the pleasure of being served by a girl named Olivia, who was extremely patient as our indecisive group ordered, then changed their minds, then ordered again ... then came back to add sprinkles. I want to thank Olivia, Smitty's, and Cape Cod Crunch for making our night. We will definitely be back!!! read more

I've never had grapenut ice cream before, but WOW, what an oral experience! It was really a really nice texture addition to the smooth, silky vanilla ice cream base. It was similar to oats but sweeter and chewier. Highly recommend! Only downside is that this place is cash only. Good lord, there's so many choices, almost as many Ice Cream places as there are Dunkin Donuts, (seriously, relax Dunkin, we get it) With all the Ice Cream places, it's hard to pit one against another. Came here because of Yelp. I've been coming once a year to Mashpee for over 30 years and usually go to an ice cream place out of the way, but glad to know this is so close! Got a hot fudge sundae (with whip cream but I didn't want nuts and they were out of cherries). Hot fudge was nice and thick and had a good flavor. Staff was courteous. Not sure if they are GF but if so next time I'll tell my wife about it. Great location, easy to get to right off the rotary. Recommended! read more

We asked for recommendations from multiple people during our week stay for ice cream places. We landed on this one and were so glad we did! All 5 of us got different flavors and we all loved each one. I don't think you can go wrong with anything they offer. The waffle cones are exceptional! Smitty's is the ice cream destination for the Upper Cape Region. They have a very wide flavor choice, and the taste is excellent. They have a good system for outdoor eating, and your not waiting in line forever like others. You don't need an APP to order either like another popular place in the area.
