Was feeling nostalgic for the old cherry dip that Dairy Queen made famous and then stupidly discontinued as I began my drive off Cape. Lo, and behold, I happened upon one of the cutest properties along Rte. 6. Twin Acres has the looks and feel of a quintessential New England ice cream shop. The counter and seating areas are squeaky clean and inviting. The menu boards are extensive and even include one of the largest vegan selections I've seen. The young lady who took my order was friendly and welcoming, so put something in the tip jar. Alas, the cherry dip wasn't as cherry as it should be, and it tasted of those wax lips I chewed on as a child, and TBH, was still oddly satisfying! The vanilla soft serve was delightful. Came here after dinner and had a decent experience. The line wasn't too long for a Saturday night which was shocking. I got a scoop of cake batter and extreme chocolate and it was alright. The chocolate was definitely chocolate-y, but the cake batter didn't real taste like anything? Oh man...where do I begin? We have been trying out ice cream shops all around the Cape, some of which just tasted of sadness and disappointment. But not here...Twin Acres is AMAZING!!! Dare I say, this is our FAVORITE ice cream shop! My husband and I both got a scoop of the lemon merengue and scoop if Maine blueberry -- heaven! Our granddaughter got some salted caramel situation that she loved. The ice bream is creamy, not icy, and is full of flavor. We highly recommend Twin Acres as a must taste ice cream spot! Side note: There was once a spot that had a delicious cranberry ice cream, but it's no longer in business. We've tried out other ice cream places in the area and have repeatedly come back to Twin Acres during our holiday at the Cape. Mind you, there's a handful of ice cream shops within minutes of each other. The flavors at Twin Acres are just tastier, bolder. I love fruit flavored ice cream and this did not disappoint. The cherry amaretto was cherry while their blueberry parfait was very blueberry. I paired the blueberry parfait with butter crunch and it was deeelish! Highly recommend. Twin acres has a variety of ice cream flavors. And their small cup sizes are so big!!! It's very much worth it for the value of ice cream. This was our second annual visit during our trip home off the cape. We eat dairy free and really appreciate having so many dairy free options here! We got cookies and cream and sorbet. Both were delicious. I feel like the 50% increase for dairy free options is steep ($9 vs $6). The small size is a quite large 2 scoops. Overall really like this I've crab shop. We were driving through Sandwich this past week on our family weekend vacation and as we were passing by this ice cream shop we thought how cute, clean looking and what an ice cream shop should look like. So we decided to stop on a whim. We have never been here before. My wife explained to the staff that she and our son have allergies, and we wanted to see if we could eat their ice cream. Rather then giving us a short response, the staff actually took out a detailed book of their ingredients and explained word by word what was in their ice cream. We were impressed, and felt like we were taken care of. Long story short, everyone in our family enjoyed their delicious ice cream safely and it was a positive experience. They have a generous selection of ice cream flavors (40+), sundaes, etc. The servers are friendly and helpful. The ice cream, which is the main draw, is just good, nothing special. Additionally, the serving size is quite small compared to other ice cream shops. The scoops are the size of a tennis ball, the Kiddie is 1 scoop and the Small 2 scoops. I am a HUGE fan. They have a large assortment of hard ice cream and some unique sundae options, but my favorite is the peanut butter cup. It is creamy with tons of peanut butter chunks and not too sweet.
