After discovering a hissing sound coming from the pool valves, an intermittent clunking sound coming from the pool cleaner, and the timer not functioning properly, I contacted Rob at Smitty's Pool Care. Anytime there is a pool problem, you never know if it might break the bank. Rob and his team responded and determined the sounds were coming from a suction valve. Rob rebuilt the suction valve and determined there were no other problems with the pool equipment. He also determined the timer was functioning properly. Recently hired to come out and look at pool. Stated we needed new filters. Stated he could service pool monthly for $150 a mo. Cleaned old filters and left a mess all over pool deck. Replaced pool filters. Approx $460. Said would be back next day to sweep and vacuum pool. Never swept or vacuumed pool. Blow back of DE all over bottom of pool. Husband text and asked what services were included in weekly pool service. No response. Sent generic text soliciting for yelp reviews instead. Text me and then stated son would vacuum when pool service starts. No written contract. Nothing in writing what could be expected for weekly monthly service. We kept asking for bill. Sent payment through delle as Rob requested. Acted like he did not receive it although we received conformation he received payment. Actually canceled monthly services prior to starting as Rob would not respond to our questions regarding what's included in monthly services. Finally after reading negative reviews they just didn't sit well as we were already experiencing some of other same reported issues before pool service even began. And just like others said owner Rob was quick to start going down a path where as he just did what he said he was going to do at initial meeting there would have never been a problem to begin win. Coming from a background where husband deals with bids and proposals daily with professional contractors daily it was a no brainer to cancel services with someone that failed to follow through on simple work he stated he would perform sweep and vacuum pool and them would not respond to request to be informed of what services were included in monthly pool service. My Jacuzzi had large dark stains on the bottom and on the sides. Many of the pool companies I called didn't want to tackle this huge task. When I spoke to Rob, he was positive and gave me hope that he could get the stains out. The next day, Rob and Jaime came out and to my Jacuzzi. They acid washed it and sanded all the stains out. Very dishonest and unreliable Not sure if the pool guy, Jay, is "all there" when servicing our pool but within less than 2 months, he was caught lying and making basic mistakes. 1. Service dates switched without telling us but the service guy told Rob (owner) that he did. 2. Added salt without testing water. Pool guy said he tested the water but our security footage proved wrong. 3. Left pool equipment on "Service Mode". Found out after it started making a very loud noise. If you're coming onto my property, unsupervised, I have to trust you. Unfortunately, Jay is very untrustworthy. ***In response to the owners comment*** It somewhat is a representation of your company when I spoke to you about the salt being added without the water being tested and you still expected me to pay for it. If your employees aren't a representation of your company you wouldn't expect a customer to pay for a bogus charge. My pool did not need more salt. Furthermore, before I decided to hire you, you told me on the phone that no service would be done without permission, this included adding chemicals. Requested a quote to have my pool acid washed. Received a quick response and discussed alternatives to acid washing and prices for other options. This was prior to seeing my pool, it was a swamp. Once looked at, an actual estimate was written up. Little things like cleaning of debris was even included as a range, so that an estimate could be rendered. Though I ended up getting an acid wash in the end, it was discussed prior to work being done, and communication was open. I appreciate that services to be completed were discussed, so that I could make an informed decision. I'm a yelper and I give ratings accordingly. First of all when Rob came to my sister who lives in chino I was the one who chose this pool company because of the Reviews. My elderly sister was in need of pool service in all the years of her owning a pool her husband took care of the pool. He unfortunately has been hospitalized since April 2 obviously can not attend the pool. At any rate Rob gave us an estimate and also said the pump needed repairing that was done and he left a mess behind. He used blue sealant on a white pump. He then said he would send his employee Israel to service my sisters pool we agreed no contract just took the man for his word. Israel his "supposedly employee" Came to service the pool he said that Hayward the pool vacuum needed repair my sister gave the go head to do so. He returns the vacuum and installs it connects to the new $95 basket that Rob said we needed ( unnecessary expense) Israel told us the vacuum wouldn't connect because it was the wrong size! so there goes $95 down the drain that Rob said we needed. Now we have to connect the vacuum hose as they said it the old way. I was upset and asked Israel why his boss would say we needed a new basket that didn't fit. He said my boss? Surprised yes your boss he said Rob isn't my boss he referred you to my company I then was fuming I asked why would Rob not just tell us he was referring you to us? He had no answer, but he did state that Rob gets a referral fee for anyone that he refers customers to which I then thought was pretty shady!!! I thought I was going to be dealing with Smitty's not a whole different pool company. And then again let me add to this The mess that Rob had left behind I asked him why he didn't clean up he stated that his employee Israel which now is not his employee would clean up after him!!! I have been in business for over 30 years and never have I ever been dishonest with anyone and I was hoping that I would get the same respect and honesty. Now here we are June 9 we have a basket that we paid $95 for that is of no use to us which Israel said he would reimburse my sister, but thought it wasn't fair because Smitty's installed it. He said that he would eat it! Is how he put it. To date we are still having problems with the pool Israel said that the water needed to be drained out of the pool my husband and I own property with pools in Orange County. I called my pool guy he said for us to take the water to Leslie's pool and have them diagnose it and we did. Leslie's pool said the water did not need to be drained that it was manageable we then told Israel and he didn't agree even after I showed him the paperwork from Leslie's at any rate. My 74year old brother came to visit from Texas he spent the morning figuring out the pool,got it to work and used the old basket that we had previously and thank God my sister had not disposed of it. My sister isn't happy and I'm so angry that this turned out the way it did. Therefore this is why I'm giving Smitty's a one star! The photo that I am attaching is how the pool looks after my brother an older gentleman that spent the day in 100° weather in Chino and got it looking the way it does when Israel couldn't get it looking like this!!! We had Smitty's Pool Care for about 4 years and has since been fired. Our pool service man was never Rob. There was also no consistency on days that our pool man showed up. When we inquired as to why he is not consistent, was told that sometimes he gets backed up. We advised that we understood that, but a courtesy phone call would be appreciated. Rob then told us he didn't have time to make a 30 sec phone call. There have been multiple issues with this company. It seems that no matter what we ask Rob, (the owner) he needs to farm it out to someone else. We have been seeing algae and mold in our pool. When we complained, was just told it's normal. Just recently they changed our filter in our pool and the DE was not properly mixed and there were large chunks left floating in the pool and multiple pieces in the skimmer. This company is lazy and doesn't do the job. I never once saw our pool man Ken brush the sides of the pool or anything else. We were always told that our chemicals were out of balance, but they could never fix the issue. I had a new pool man come out from a different company and within minutes could tell what was wrong with the pool. If Smitty's was doing the job properly, we wouldn't have mold and algae. Today Rob Smith came for his final check and to give me our gate key. After that transaction, he then proceeded to attempt to assault my husband and tried to hit me on my property. The police had to be called to make an official complaint. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! The owner has no professionalism and when he is called out on it, he retaliates in a big way. Response to his comment. We have called and told him we were unhappy about the service. We have never hired him to do other jobs around the house. He was hired as our pool man and he never once cleaned our pool. He farmed it out to a subcontractor. As far as his comment about the electrical we blamed him for that is being taken care of. Today he came onto my property and tried to hit me and told my husband he was going to fxxxing kill him. This has all been recorded. This company does not put clients first. Clients pay a set fee for service, which means I expect the company to show up as agreed and to do the job right. This company serviced my pool for almost 8 months, however I found myself usually outside working on the pool myself because whoever was coming on the agreed upon weekly date was not doing his job. The final straw is when the company did not show up a few days prior to my 6-year-old's pool party. The pool was a mess, so in a panic, I called another company. When the other company arrived, he found that we had algae in our pool. The worst was the entitled and unprofessional attitude of Rob when I explained that I unfortunately had to go with another company.
