My husband took his car for smog check for the first time recently recommended by our all time favorite mechanic guy, Michael at Colima Auto Repair. He had great experience there and shortly after I also received a notice for smog check for my car. I went there and one of the guys there noticed and greeted me. It took about 15 mins since no car was in front of me. With cash,$49 or with card, $51. Very fair pricing. Great and fast service. And all of the guys there were friendly and working very efficiently. After me, couple more people came in, but their cars started to be checked right away from where they were parked. ( I have a V8, so engine size shouldn't matter) Make sure you don't have a check engine light on before you go. This place is quick, simple, and cheap. What more do you want from a Smog Test Center ? After doing some research, I found that going to a Smog TEST ONLY center is usually better than going to a place that also does repair, only because a shop that does Tests only aren't trying to have you fail because they don't deal with the repairs needed for you to pass. So if you suspect your vehicle should have no issues passing, I would recommend going to a Test Only center like this one. Was running around town and had 30 minutes between meetings so I decided to use Yelp to help me locate a test center near me. Found this "Test Only Center" behind the Arco carwash on Nogalas and Walnut. Right near the 60 freeway. The test center is toward the back of the center, and I was in and out of the place in less than 20 minutes. I have a 2006 Toyota, and they charged me $39 for the smog test (including certification). Credit Card is available but they have a $1 surcharge. Overall, it was a fast and painless experience. read more

I was looking for a honest, inexpensive, hassle-free shop to take my 99' Nissan Quest to. Read Yelp reviews and decided to give this place a try. And it turned out to be the one. It is located right off 60 freeway Nogales Exit. Took me about 5 minutes to locate it, but recognize the sign immediately when I saw it. The owner Leslie was friendly and knowledgeable. He took my car and had his employee start smog checking it immediately. During the process, I waited in his 1950's vintage looking office. Quite stylish i have to say. And he advise me to always call ahead, compare price, and be clear about what is being done to my car to prevent getting ripped off by greedy mechanics. Afterwards, when we got the results back, he explained to me what some of the numbers mean and the result was sent to DMV automatically. Overall, the process took only 20 minutes. This place is great! They check the vehicle first to make sure it passes physical inspection before they run the smog test. They won't smog test the vehicle and charge you for not passing if it doesn't pass the physical inspection. Many other places will perform the smog test anyways (failing the physical inspection) and fail you making you to come back and pay an additional fee. Sam is a super nice guy. Place is a little hard to find being in the rear of the buildings, but I was in and out real quick. read more

I'd suggest calling to make sure that they'll be okay with taking in customers that day though because their machine was down on a day that I was planning to go. $39.00 smog check and 1$ more for charging card. Awesome price since other places charge 50-55$. Finding it may be a little tricky. Stay on gale and pull into the garage area behind the car wash. They are at the end. If you pull your car up to the tiny parking area at the end of the garages, the employee will come out to speak to you and find out what you need. The office has a sofa, chairs, and a tv to make your wait more bearable. But the whole process took no more than 20 minutes, so there was virtually no real waiting involved if no one's ahead of you. The best time to go would probably be on weekdays before 5pm. Win win! read more

I found this place on yelp and it was down the street from my work so I saw the reviews say it only takes about 20 minutes so I stopped by. Once I got there Frank and the other guy was real friendly but told me, San the technician, was on lunch and would be back in five minutes. So I waited but he didn't come back yet so Frank decides to call Sam and Sam rushes back from his lunch to do the check. Sam gets back does his thing and I'm out the door in 20 minutes. $45 and the best damn service I ever had from a shop. Real honest guys so if you want them to just pass you, move onto another shop. I recently went to this location for a smog check(including certificate) and right away was greeted by a very kind and older gentlemen Francisco, with a very vibrant and down to earth personality. Went here because of good reviews on Yelp, and I was satisfied with my visit. It took about 20 minutes and I passed everything except the visual inspection, but the fault is mine since I have aftermarket parts. It was $40 for me and it will be another $10 to come back and pass the visual inspection for my Rsx-s. Both of the workers were kind to me and shooed me inside the office with ac instead of waiting under the hot sun. On that note, I gave this place 4 stars for requiring a c.a.r.b. sticker on my aem intake even though it is listed as legal under federal documents. This place will not pass the visual inspection without the sticker. Though it is customary, other smog test centers can and might pass you because they know it is legal. Just a word of caution to those who have modified intakes. read more
