I took it to two different shops, and both told me the entire air compressor needed to be replaced, quoting me anywhere from $900 to $1,200. That seemed like a lot of money, and I was a bit skeptical--especially since Toyota compressors typically last over 100,000 miles. So I decided to get a third opinion and went to Honest Auto. I'm so glad I did! Joseph and his team took a closer look and found that it wasn't the compressor at all--it was just a small part, the fuse, that had gone bad. They replaced it for only $150. Carlos, the owner, provided great service. Buddy had a flat on a loaner Porsche. The cost of patching tires here is typically $25 but more higher end vehicles, they charge $35. Carlos was quick to assess the issue and informed us the tire was unpatchable due to the location of the defect on the side wall. Due to being unable to fix the patch but having had to remove the tire, Carlos charged $10 for the labor which I thought was more than fair. I thought this overall experience was great and would recommend this place. For the record, I hate it when places call themselves "honest" as it is usually a tell-tale sign of dishonest work. Had a terrible experience here the 2nd time I had my car serviced. A couple of weeks ago, I had my car serviced for oil change, tune up, suspension, and a couple more maintenance items. So it's a significant amount of money that I am paying. The job was finished in about 5 hours. Upon getting the car back, the owner told me that they noticed some vibrations which he suspects is a misfire. I did not personally experience any misfire while owning the car, and most importantly, did not have symptoms when I brought it to their shop. I decided to just take the car and observe what he was saying. A few days after, I inspected my intake tube was cracked and transmission breather hose detached from the firewall. I thought maybe I should just address these and perhaps the intake tube is the culprit of the misfire-like symptoms. Changed it, same symptoms. Finally, about 2 weeks after, I got a P0306 code, which means cyl 6 detected a misfire. Changed the coil myself, no help. I did not want to inspect nor change the plugs since I did not want to void any warranties on their end. Brought the car to their shop to inform them about the issue and I said that I suspect that the plugs are bad. Alex said it was all working properly. He switched the 5 & 6 coils to eliminate the possibility of the coil being the culprit. A few hours later, got the same code. I was told by Alex that I will be needing a valve adjustment to fix the issue. Brought it back the following week to have my valves adjusted. A couple of hours later, I was told that they did not continue with the valve adjustment and they did a compression test instead. They said that cylinder 6 had low compression. Gave me 2 options: (1) rebuild the engine (2) buy a new engine. I told him that I will have to think about it since it is a big decision that involves a lot of money. After a few days, with all fault codes cleared, I noticed that the CEL showed that I now have a P0305. Which means cylinder 5 is now the issue. I finally made a decision to inspect the plugs myself since it's basically a rebuild or a new engine for me anyway. Upon removal of the plug in cylinder 5, I noticed that it had a long hairline crack and looks in a real bad shape. Replaced it myself and the misfiring and rough idle is now gone. Misdiagnosed? Check! Rebuild engine X New engine X Dishonest? Check! Called to ask for reimbursement for the plugs and was told that they do not do that, only offered store credit. I had a good feeling about this shop before, but after this incident, I would say that they do not act and perform as good as the name of their company. Never going back. read more

I don't have the money for that so I had it towed home and had a buddy come to look at it later, he checked the compression and it was fine and fixed my car for $100 parts and labor, so idk if these people are really dishonest or just bad mechanics read more

I feel that they both have very good mechanics; however, honest auto is a lot more affordable and reasonable in prices in some aspects. In addition to their exceptional service, they are also very friendly and welcoming. I'm a little iffy on their brake services though. My rear caliper on my 2011 4Runner broke and started leaking all brake fluid while I was driving from picking up my son from school. I didn't know what it was at the time but my brake wasn't working and I had to use my emergency brake as I pulled into the Arco gas station. Luckily Honest Auto group was in the same shopping center. Have been coming here for oil change and other minor fixes without any problem until November 2017. Issue: grinding noise when I press my brake. Took my car in and they said it is no biggie and adjusted my handbrake and sent me off. I drove home and could not even lift the handbrake up at all once I parked. So I had to go back the next day( big hassle) to get it adjusted again. A day later, the gear shift indicator went off. So a month later, I am still hearing the grind sound from time to time. If your a customer whom has unknowingly took your vehicle for checkup or any form of maintenance at this location extending from early as January 2016 to current. If you notice your vehicle that something is off or doesn't seem to act properly take to another mechanic for immediate inspection. My friend has the same model car as me and we usually tend to take it to the same mechanic. But one day my friend decided to take it to try someplace new and that was a mistake that turned into a headache and nightmare. The vehicle was in clean fully operation mode going in for a normal transmission flush and top off on fluid levels. Flash forward a month later, vehicle begins to struggle to turn over, maintenance lights in solid state. Horsepower was the first sign that something was up and it just wasn't normal because it would struggle to reach speed limits at time. Vehicle would automatically shut off when in stationary mode while PARKING! How could a common routine maintenance issue turn into a near death experience if the car would shut down on the freeway. Please look up their business on BBB.org, they are unable to resolve issues by customers, so it tells you something. My friend said the older customers that went to that place need to come forward and file complaints as well. Because he overheard from a guest, "why does it take 6 times to fix a oil leak?" as the mechanic had like no clue, I would not trust any mechanic that cannot even answer that. Gave them a chance and had a simple oil change job for them to do, left the shop finding out they left my oil cap lose so all the oil leaked out, and I drove without oil in my engine, irresponsible and sloppy, I felt my life had no value over the few extra minutes they could have spent to make sure everything was fine before their customer left the shop, would not recommend to anyone to values solid quality work. read more

So this shop is one of my go-to places when I'm not able to go to the spots that usually hook me up in OC/South Bay. I've been coming here off and on for about a few years. I used to bring my RSX in all the time for oil changes and headlamp replacements. Alex, the manager, is awesome. There were times he would do random stuff for free (like replacing my headlamp and go through SHIT since replacing RSX headlamps are a BITCH). On July 9 2011, I took the G37 for a 1st oil change and the new girl who was working front desk said the oil change will cost $27.90. I was like what the hell this girl must be crazy or she think i'm stupid. I was going to say forget this place and head out to different shop. Alex who is the manager at this location came out and told me that there is a $4.00 extra change because it has a large front panel. I told him that my 2010 Acura TSX also have front panel and I didn't get that extra charge. $27.90 cost is similar to dealer price and I can get a car wash for free. He told me extra labor will be extra charge due to large panel. I was like understandable because of extra labor. After the oil change was done Alex told me that he won't change the extra $4.00 because it had a small panel. WOW they are honest. read more

Okay.....if you noticed, most of the people giving 5 stars are girls who don't know much about price comparison among auto repair shops. Here is the deal with this place. They will tend to charge you higher compared to a lot of other places, mainly because their rent is more expensive since their shop is bigger. The Taiwanese guys owner is very nice, but there is another partner who is white or hispanic and he will tend to charge you higher and not give any discounts. Anyways, for all you people that know your car stuff, you wouldn't want to come here. There is nothing that great about this place. Went here for the first time and they were great. I got brakes done for my Lexus GS350. Had to replace the pads and rotors. They were so quick with the service. I also got an oil change at the same time. I was in and out in less than an hour. I will definitely be back for any services that is needed for my car. I recently found this place a few months ago and I am very happy with the work they do. I've been taking all my cars there ever since and as an ex mechanic (a damn good mechanic) that got injured and can not do most of the work myself, Alex (Manager) took care of my babies. For an ex mechanic to trust another mechanic should be enough to make you realize that Honest Auto Repair can be trusted whether if you're a kid with a first car or someone who doesn't know about cars. I have a 1964 1/2 Mustang, they are converting it from inline 6 to a V8. They took about 3 weeks because of parts being ordered from other states. Power disk brakes in front, suspension (front and rear), and a full engine swap with trans all done...happy with pricing and satisfied with warranty and the job. I don't even live close to Rowland Heights anymore but would take the drive to Honest Auto Repairs, just cause I know they won't BS around like other shops and get the job done with affordable pricing. I recommend this shop to all yelpers, friends, and family. For those complaining about the pricing, if you can't afford it (prices are reasonable if not lower than other competitors) then you shouldn't be owning a vehicle. read more

Have always been hesitant about bringing cars to any auto repair shop. Since my mechanic brother has always worked on our cars. Unfortunately, I needed to get my window fixed ASAP because It wouldn't roll up or down anymore and was half way opened. Rain was forecasted to come in the next couple of days. I started shopping around for an auto shop. I must say, when I called Honest Auto Repair, I immediately felt comfortable with what I heard and brought my car here. Amazing service - and honest - which is the most important feature of an auto repair shop given how easy it is to be ripped off. Yes, the prices are a fraction higher than a discount repair shop, but still much, much cheaper than a dealership (and more honest too) and I'd rather pay an extra few dollars and know I'm getting good, reliable service than be cheap with my car and end up wasting money or getting more problems. I was driving back to LA when my old vintage car showed some overheating issues. I was very lucky to have been next to this mechanic when that happened. Alex was very kind and even if he was very busy, in 20 minutes he was able to take a look at my car, fill up the radiator, check that everything was working properly and reassure me that I could safely drive back home.
