Quick, no frills spot to get your smog check done. I came during the daytime on a weekday and was in and out within 15 minutes! It's located at the back of a narrow area lined with auto shops. Not much parking available so if you come during a busier time and someone's car is already being tested, you may have to maneuver around. Keep in mind that for this spot specifically, if your car fails the test, you are still responsible for testing costs (just not the cost of transmitting the certificate). So if you're not confident you'll pass, you may want to consider going somewhere that doesn't charge you for failed tests. read more

I wasn't sure I wanted to blemish this shops many 5 star reviews. If you read my other smog shop review, you will hear that has a vehicle I was working on for months, upgrading my skills to do so. I had a small EVAP leak I couldn't find even after buying and using two different smoke machines. I had driven drive cycles so many times. And in the end it was the simplest thing, an open port on top of the tank fuel pump that was the problem. And I replaced the fuel injectors assembly with an updated one. I'd heard stories of young east county smog techs not knowing what they were looking at in older vehicles so failing vehicles for missing or wrong parts that weren't. And the customer pays for that So I started looking at San Diego listings here on Yelp. I just needed to get this problem behind me and complete my registration completed. And it was the end of the end of year holiday season. I had nothing else to do, and Annie from Smog Clinic had responded with a quote that was less than the east county shops I am leery of., On New Years Eve (I know, but I really needed it done), I called. Was told they were open and I told the man what I was driving. That I was coming from El Canon. And when I finally got there after driving in pouring rain and getting misdirected by a map app, I walked up with my paperwork folder. The man asked where my paperwork was. Took a quick look and then told me he doesn't do 99's. I told him that Annie quoted me on Yelp for smogging a 1999. Then he says his machine wouldn't calibrate this morning and he's waiting for the repair tech. I told him he should have told me that when I called him before driving there. He didn't say anything. For that I have to give a low rating. I get that some people are not free talkers like I am. I honestly am not sure I even believe his story. Because 1999 and older vehicles require use of a different machine. And as time goes by, less and less older vehicles come in. On a slow day they might not want to use the electricity to even turn the machine on. Next time I hope to be driving a newer truck, and with the newer system it's all about what what the vehicle computer reports and not so much about the Tech's knowledge. Unless there are aftermarket parts installed, pretty much one shop is as good as another. Except for price. read more

I am so HAPPY I came here to get my smog check done. I had to get one to get my car registration renewed this year. I realized I needed a smog check very last minute and called the shop around 5:00pm to see if they could still accommodate me, because they closed at 5:30pm that day. I got an immediate response on the phone, and was told that if I could show up in the next 15 minutes they could do it. I went immediately and they worked on my car. There were two people there before me so I had to wait a little bit, but Kevin spent no more than 10 minutes on each car!
