Very high prices compared to the valley. Quoted $103 to smog a 2012 F350 with the 6.7 PSD here. Quoted $69 in Merced, and $80 in Fresno. Asked the owner if he can price match a bit - met with a bit of an attitude to say the least. Needless to say, I canceled my appointment and drove to Fresno - went to Express Smog and Shaun got me in and out in less than 30 minutes with no appointment and great service. I have no problem supporting businesses on the mountain, but if I'm going to receive higher prices and lip in return, then screw it, I'll spend the little bit of extra diesel to go to Fresno. read more

Simple car transfer smog job. Called. Was told $60.00 and if needed re-inspection due to some work, would be additional $51. Fair enough. Except I was charged not only $60 but an additional line for $51. Asked him to explain. He told me the internet was way behind on his price increases. BTW, there was exactly nothing wrong with any element of the car, and did not require a re-test, nor did he do one. But certainly charged me for it. On a better note, his place is reasonably organized, and he seems to have good equipment. Still, the clear and obvious overcharge was a conscious overcharge, and his reason makes zero sense. Smogs go for $45-70 bucks in this community. His work is fine. Watch the bill. read more

Was a great place to get the smog check. The owner was a really nice person made sure I had a chair outside so I would be safe from anyone else due to the virus and was fast and efficient so I was in and out fast and with helpful information from him. Charges more for a no-repair re-check than the initial. So you are basically paying155 dollars if your car fails for simple sensor that needs reset. Better value in area with other smog inspection stations read more

Had my truck smogged there January of 2020, straight-up took care of me with no issues at all, and was comparable in price to others. Found that I needed an EGR valve (which I already knew, have been a master tech myself for 46 years) and he knew exactly what style was needed (negative feedback pressure). He knows his stuff, and will get you smogged and down the road...will be bringing my Highlander in soon for hime to smog as well! read more

I arrived on time for my appointment and 20 minutes later I was done. I found the gentleman there to be very friendly. He clearly advised what needed to be done for DMV. Very professional. Cost was a little more than past inspections, but practically everything up here costs more. read more

I agree with the other reviewers, that Smog Doctor is over-priced, and really not very customer service oriented. Save your time and money and go to Fresno for your smog check. He does not advertise that he is a "don't pass or don't pay" place, so he honestly takes your money and there is no discount for a recheck. You can have two smog checks for the price he charges for just one. I called him back to see if there was anything he could do price-wise to get my recheck business, but he became irritated and hostile in his tone, and hung up on me. read more

They reply received from the co owner is false and projected to make them not look bad. The owner was terribly rude and did not say anything about paperwork stored in the rafters or how much of a pain it was or that he offered kindly to look through the records for 100$ an hour. Upon arrival to the next smog shop they were able to go back into the electronic system to find my smog record. They are liars and don't deserve to do services in this town.
