This morning 4-4-24, on the recommendation of a trusted friend, I went in to have my Jeep smogged. I was concerned because a couple of previous reviews about rudeness, I was wary. I'm happy to say.....I had an awesome experience while waiting for my smog certificate. The owner and his technicians gave me the best service I have had in years. Rude and condescending. Don't take your older vehicles for smog: I asked "what is the problem?". "Excessive hydrocarbons at idle" "Oh, so the mix is rich" "If you say so" "How would you address the problem?" "I don't address anything. I have guys in the shop do that" "Can you give me an estimate for repairs?" "I'm booked two weeks out" So my re-test is free? "No. Half price, and then we start all over again. I am so glad I found this place. It was recommended by neighbors who go there and had already tried four other places over the years. When a retired mechanic recommends a place then you know it's a good place to try. My experience so far, with two of our three vehicles, has been stellar. They are not looking to over charge for simple things like putting new screws in after the old ones were stripped and fell out. They basically ordered them from the dealer in fresno and charged me the exact cost of them, didn't make me make an appointment to go back for them to install them because "it's a simple and fast thing to do." Jack at Yosemite Smog did me a solid. I was having issues with a gas cap and had to get my truck smogged. The after market caps don't have the filter in it like mine requires. So I ordered one on line it got here in two days. So before spending any money on the smog he helped explain what I needed to do to get the code's removed and directed me to drive it to 145 and back. I did and he was right it reset the codes and my truck passed smog. Thank you for the personalized service Jack. And a great cup of coffee while I waited. We were on the way to Yosemite NP as visitors passing thru the town and had emergency with our car. Turned out we needed new battery after all. The guys at this shop were amazing. They took us in right away without waiting although they were super busy that day. They took care of everything, had our battery in stock and also performed basic car inspection just to make sure we are safe on the road. There was everything perfect about this place and we are happy we found them. They treat customers the way it should be, the way it use to be. Great experience. This business was amazing. I was on a road trip when my chains became dislodged and broke my brake line. I called them at 3:30pm and they got me in at 4pm. They worked as hard as they could to get the part that same day, but due to snowy weather they couldn't get it that night. They got the part the next day and installed it super fast. I took my older mercedes here and they said the test failed or "wasnt able to even start" because the car was idleing higher than the "specs". So I moved to LA and took it to a smog place there and they said nothing was wrong with the idle at all, and they ran the test and the car passed the test. So I wasted whatever the fee was at this place in oakhurst I forgot I think it was like 70 bucks and they give you 3 re-tests, but they wouldn't give me a refund even though the test wouldn't even start. Also, god damn, why do everything you people do, you do SLOW. it took like an hour and a half just for them to just to start checking out my car. This place moves like they think. Slow, Trapped in time. Oakies. The smog place in LA started testing my car in 15 minutes. And most other places I have been to have been the same. If they work on lots of cars, and think faster. read more

New Owner Justin does NOT carry over the honesty, respect, good communication, and professionalism that Yosemite Smog has had gor over 20 years with George, Toby and Darryl! I will not return to the new ownership! Simple work order: (2 hours) Oil change; Remove/replace customer -provided Honda purchased water reservoir (2 mechanics prev identified crack) At about 2 hour mark Im informed car done in a few, mechanic puttting it back now; only needed tubing replaced! Did NOT remove/replace part as Order states! Unable to return part to Honda! No communication at all, informing me as to status. I sat there for 2 hours, having to walk away twice due to Justin (and staff) excessive smoking (even as Justin stood by "no smoking" sign. Not a clue! The man was disrespectful and was downright rude to me, yelling at me as I left! Never again! His staff sarcastically stated "you're welcome for fixing your car" None of this would have happened if owner /Justin had allowed customer !! to make an informed decision! He took time to fill tank but not relay information! I would NOT recommend Yosemite Smog again! despite the fact they used to be quality auto service, respectful and professional! read more

Yosemite Smog and Electrical is GREAT! I went to get my car smogged. I was first in line (get there before they open at 8) and my car was smogged first. Darrell, the manager who is a mature gentleman, was so nice. I asked him if he had something to clean my dirty windshield intending to clean it myself. To my surprise, one of the employees did a great job cleaning it after my smog test. I also told Darrell that my A/C was not working and he took a quick look to make sure that it wasn't something simple right after my windshield was cleaned, so I did not have to wait! This company promised me it would take 2 hours to get an initial evaluation to my insurance company for a fire that occurred in the dash. I was out of town and not sure where to go and since their name had the word "electrical" I thought they would be a good choice. It took 30 days before they even bothered to look at the car and many more weeks for them to provide my insurance company with a bid. The bid was way off, since they did not look far enough into the dash to evaluate the fire damage. After 90 days, and nothing done, I had my insurance company ship my car back 350 miles back to to Los Angeles. This company never followed up with me as promised and any communication was always initiated by me. Don't come here...very disappointing! read more

Came in here for a smog check and couldn't have been happier. The guy at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The smog check didn't take long at all. The auto tech took me out to my car and showed me a few things he was seeing that might need to be fixed soon but wasn't pushy about doing the repairs right then and there. Since they don't take appointments I'd recommend getting there early for smog checks. read more

My mom's car had an electrical problem. Had AAA give her a jump at home, I then drove it into Yosemite Smog to have them check it out and get a smog check. Darrell was friendly at the counter. It turned out my mom's alternator had gone bad. We have had all three of our cars worked on at Yosemite Smog and always get good results. Smog checks are usually quick, depending on the date you go in. Other work seems to be on mountain time or possibly the time to get parts takes a little longer since our cars are older. read more

I took my Honda Element there a few weeks ago for a clunking noise I was having in the front suspension. It turned out I needed 2 control arms, 2 sway bar links, bushings, and a 4 wheel alignment. The price was great, just as was the quality of the work. Both George and Darrell were excellent to deal with, communicated well, and had the car done quickly. Terrible service. I arrived not long after they opened for the day, everyone was helping other people. The smog tech was rude and not helpful at all, he failed my car on a visual item under the hood, and when I showed him proof that this item was CARB approved, and had an E.O. number, he failed the car anyway. We were on vacation in the area and our car died as we were coming down the mountain, as in stopped working altogether in the middle of a two lane highway. Our tow truck driver recommended this business and we are sure glad he did. They spent the rest of the day working on our car, even staying past their closing time to ensure that our car was back in running order before we left.
