The technician (bald-headed guy) initially told me, "You passed." I paid, and he proceeded to prepare the paperwork. Then, almost immediately after I paid, he suddenly told me, "Actually, you didn't pass." I was completely confused and asked what happened. Instead of explaining the situation professionally, he had a smirky attitude and said, "Did you get it out of your system?" It came across as extremely dismissive and almost like he was trying to gaslight me. Whether my vehicle passed or failed is one thing, but the way this was handled was unprofessional and left a very bad impression. I expected a straightforward, professional experience not confusion and attitude after I had already paid!! I understand mistakes happen. But when you can't even get the most basic analysis of a smog check right, it tells me a lot about how accurate the rest of your service may be. If you can't correctly determine whether a vehicle passed or failed, that's a serious problem. And seriously, the tech needs to fix his condescending attitude. Being wrong is one thing, but being condescending while giving out incorrect information makes the experience even worse. TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION!! Not even a mention of how long process can take. Said I needed to take it to a mechanic and have it looked at and then come try again within 30 days for $10. That was a bunch of bull**** what he didn't know was that my dad is a mechanic and has his own smog guy in his shop. I could have went to him in San Jose but didn't, instead paid for convenience. So did what smog dude at Chevron told me to do and took my car to my mechanic and he looked at it and their was NOTHING wrong, then his smog mechanic guy did a smog check the very next day and it passed. He said straight out that they cheated me and most likely if I did bring my vehicle back, he most likely would still failed me. So just be careful, I paid $75 for fail, gas to SJ and back and $45 to get it smog check again in San Jose. If my dad wasn't a mechanic I would have paid for more out the pocket.

I paid around $160 (before coupon) for a full synthetic oil change, and after getting home I noticed that only the tires on the left side of my vehicle had been adjusted. The two tires on the right side were completely missed. My dashboard tire-pressure readings clearly showed the difference. I understand that mistakes happen, but when you are charging customers this much for a service, basic items should not be overlooked which concerns me on a larger items. Customers should not have to go home and double-check whether the work they paid for was actually completed. What makes this more frustrating is that this is not the first issue I've had at this location but I'm all for second chances.
