I have filed a complaint with the CA Bureau of Auto Repair: On Jan. 31, 2024, Seller Mehran Salami provided Smog Check Vehicle Inspection Report for this vehicle dated & signed on July 15, 2023, by Inspector Saladdin Khourshid/ID EO016849 saying it PASSED. Odometer reading at this time was 102, 916. I purchased this vehicle from Mehran Salami for $2500 cash on Jan. 31, 2024 (2 of my housemates with me), with odometer reading of 103,431. This vehicle was "Not Ready" to Pass Smog on Feb. 7, 2024, at ASAP Smog Test at 1776 Palm Avenue, San Diego CA 92154. Since then, Firestone Complete Auto Care at 950 Palm Avenue, Imperial Beach 91932, has discovered that the rear Catalytic Converter must be replaced (quote $2600), Fuel Injector must be replaced ($484), Spark Plugs must be replaced ($672), and the Rear Main Seal Replaced (Est. $500-$1500). With only 515 additional miles on the Odometer between the 7/15/23 "Passed" Smog Test at Smog Pros and Seller Mehran Salami's sale to me on January 31, 2024, there is no possible way all these components failed since the 7/15/23 "Passed" Smog Test. NOTE: According to his LinkedIn Profile, Mehran Salami is the Manager of M&N Auto Auto Service & Sales located at 344 Walter Way, El Cajon CA 92101, less than a 1/2 Mile from Smog Pros. Mehran Salami listed this vehicle for sale on Craigslist and showed it to me at his home at 16683 Deer Ridge Rd, San Diego 92127, did not disclose that he is an Auto Service & Sales manager. read more

The hours posted on Yelp do not reflect all open hours and I think may reflect only the hours that smog checks are available. I frequent this place for gas because it is convenient. The bonus here is that it is actually some of the most inexpensive gas in the area. Located at the corner of Main and Madison, it's a quick in and out from any direction and relatively freeway convenient, especially if going East and entering Interstate 8 at Main St. Although the name implies only smog checks, they offer three grades of unleaded gas and a small market for snacks, beverages and some essentials. They do not take credit and charge a small fee for ATM, but it is a set fee and not per gallon. I will be in the need of a few smog checks soon and will definitely be bringing the sleds here in addition to my regular fuel stops. read more

Awesome service! I went to two other smog places in El Cajon (Broadway Smog and A1 Smog) both places didn't want to smog my car and claimed the same reason why (machine was down). My car is a Cadillac Hearse Funeral Car. I can understand not wanting to service this vehicle, but its business...come on. This was an experience of a lifetime! I came for what I thought was a routine smog check and left wondering what in the sam hell is wrong with this world. The employee was nice enough to talk to me after 20 minutes of trying to flag him down for some direction on how to start the process. After I managed to get his attention, he made me feel at home by ignoring my questions and barely making eye contact. It's like I have two 8 year old sons! He was sweet. While I was waiting for the actual smog test to take place, I witnessed a cat fight between two homeless women fighting over a bottle of alcohol. The laundromat (complete with homeless encampment and nearby taco shop) must be the reason why the chairs were placed outside. The entertainment was wild! This place is pure smog gold. read more

Didn't even start my vehicle up and hooked nothing up to test it but immediately looks for non compliant parts they can charge you a ton to replace so I have more work to do and tells me I have to get all these replaced before it's legal to smog!! Then has the audacity to grab my keys and "make me pay" before he'll give em back. What a child's play of a business!! I am do disappointed in these guys. I must have caught them on a bad day, as the past two smogs I've had done on my car were great and the staff friendly and nice. Today was NOT the case. They kept messing with my car and made the block jump - I've never seen it do that before. After that, the block smoked and failed visual inspection. The (India) Indian man shouted across to the tester that my car was junk and belongs in a junk yard. Now I know my car is old but it is all I've got and can currently afford and I thought it was extremely rude to shout that out when the customer is still there! He came into the office and gave me a crappy look, then left again. I told the tester that I had heard the other guy but no apology was given. When I get this fail sorted out, and I get my free retest, I will not be going there ever again! Why should I give my money to people that are angry and mean? read more

Would give this place less stars, if I could. Went in with my car, which has never failed a smog, and the guy was rude when I asked about the coupon. The location is a dump with people begging for money, drugs outside. So, with my experience with the customer service and then waiting I knew something was just not going to go my way. Ended up failing me...not any of the emissions but the guy failed me on my gas cap and another manually inputed category. Took it to a good mechanic and they said nothing was wrong and they couldnt see why I was failed. This place is sketchy (workers and environment). Not worth the $60 dollars they t UPDATE: Took it back for my retest. Told them that it was fine and to retest it. Showed them the paperwork from the smog tech. Basically they tried really to make the smog tech sound wrong. Then went on a lengthy inspection and tried to tell me other things were wrong. This place is too much. Never again.
