I've been coming to Smog Shop Oceanside for the past few years and I really love the service here! The Smog Shop Oceanside is located in Oceanside just off of Oceanside Blvd within the Del Oro Marketplace. A very convenient location and there's plenty of shopping & food options nearby, along with access to the public train. Jaime always provides consistent & friendly service; not to mention fast! Their office is rather small, with only seating for a few customers which may be considered a con. But because of their location, there are plenty of places to go explore & grab a bite while waiting. The Smog Shop Oceanside appears to only take WALK-INS and no appointments. I highly recommend CALLING-AHEAD to get an idea of your possible Wait-Time. The great news is that the service at Smog Shop is extremely fast! It often takes under 20 minutes per vehicle to do a typical inspection. Mine typically takes 15 minutes to complete! Their pricing is extremely fair and it costs under $65 to do my smog inspection for my 2010 vehicle. You can also save money by using CASH as payment, but you can also use credit cards too. My son brought me here a year or two ago. He insisted I go to this place. He also used to work at a local mechanic shop about a mile away and would drive the clients cars here for their smogs. I'm so glad we went here. The guy was so nice. Very professional. I went out to my truck to gather my things as my son took care of the paperwork. The guy came out to get a mile reading and my battery died! I was so embarrassed. The nice gentleman used his own car to start my truck and I couldn't have been more grateful. Price was beyond fair. After we left, I bought a new battery. ‍ I need to get my car done now, so I will be going there tomorrow. I called two days ahead of time on Tuesday, 1/10/23 to set up an appointment with Jaime the owner of the Smog Shop for today on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. I confirmed the total cost to do a Smog Test on my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car that includes the Smog Certificate and the sales tax. Jamie quoted me the total cost will be $70.00. I also asked Jaime, can he do an Air Pressure Check on all 4 of my tires before he performs the Smog Test on my car? Jaime said sure Frances and he said that is a good idea to make sure the air in all of my 4 tires have proper inflation before Jamie conducts the smog testing on my car this morning. Jaime also explained to me since I have an older 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car the time duration will take approximately (30 to 45 minutes) to get this Smog Test done on my car because an older car like mine has to go through an intensive testing process. I agree with Jaime this Smog Shop owner. I drove over to the Smog Shop today at 10:26 a. m. and I had to wait a few minutes since I arrived earlier. Hannah who is Jaime's daughter was working in the front office and she asked for my car keys and my cell phone contact number. I also brought in my DMV Print Out Paperwork to show to Hannah in order for her to scan this barcode at the top of this document. This itemized invoice I received today to perform a Smog Test on the (1995 cars and older) is $61.75, the Smog Certificate is $8.25 the subtotal labor cost is $61.75 I was not charged a sales tax, the DMV Fees are zero and the TOTAL ESTIMATED PRICE is $70.00. I also had to read and then sign my signature at the bottom of this invoice. Hannah also kept an additional copy for their Smog Shop records. Then Jaime drove my Honda Civic DX Coupe Car to the back of his Smog Shop to do the Smog Test on my car. I decided to wait for my car inside their Smog Shop instead of eating out at a restaurant. The weather conditions was really cold, cloudy and windy this morning. Hannah had the heater on full blast in their front office and it was very warm inside their Smog Shop. It took about (50 minutes) to complete the Smog Test on my car today. Then Jaime the owner opened up the back door and he said Frances your car has passed the Smog Test with a smile on his face. I said Thank you Jaime and I was very happy with my Smog Test Results. Jaime said my car's engine is very clean and my car passed the Smog Test because, I take really good care of my car by getting my car properly maintained at the needed intervals at my local (current auto repair shop) and also at my (former auto repair shop) that is located in Vista, CA. I received quality workmanship that was done on my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car by both of these automotive repair shop owners. My 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car has always passed these Smog Tests and has never failed once. Then Hannah his daughter printed off a duplicate copy of the Smog Test and I received the original copy of the Smog Test Certificate Results today. Jamie told me that he has sent my Smog Test Results that my car has passed electronically to the DMV today and they will receive it by sometime tomorrow morning. I mailed out my DMV Renewal payment this afternoon to complete my Car Registration process. This is my second time visiting the Smog Shop for my car and my mom's car. I feel very comfortable being a new customer at this Smog Shop because it is a family owned business, I have a really good business relationship with Jaime the owner of his Smog Shop. His prices are very affordable they aren't too high priced, Jaime is also a very honest person, personable, and he also has an extensive background in performing Smog Tests. Plus his Smog Shop is only 2.4 miles from my parents house. Jaime is going to have me as his lifetime customer. I highly recommend the Smog Shop. read more

We started coming here 7+ yrs ago when it was owned by someone else, who was a very nice guy, but this subsequent owner, Jaime, is THE BEST!! He is so knowledgeable, super friendly, great customer service!! We get all 5 of our cars smogged here! And they're all older cars! My hubby has an 84 Cadillac El Dorado , which requires being smogged on the Dyno, this year it didn't pass. After some engine work, he took it back to re-test, & it still didn't pass. (X4) He really explained the specifics of where the car wasn't passing, he's more than generous with his time & kindness!! We refer all of our friends & family here, we'd never go anywhere else!! This place is by far the best smog shop I've ever been to and I've been to quite a few over the past 30 years. Jaime is not only professional but he's super honest and just a nice guy all around. I came in with a check engine light that I didn't see was on and after noticing it, came back in to let me know so I could get the problem fixed before getting it smogged, failing and paying regardless. My car did not pass the visual. That should have been the end of the service right there you would think! They proceeded to smog the car informing me that is passed but failed the visual. Then he charged me the full $71.00 and said come back and we will retest for another $50!!! Wut in the actual hell man? He's wont rake you over the coals when you fix the issue and bring it back. Once my old truck wasn't going to pass the way it was when I brought it in.
