Fifteen minutes from drop off to pick up really puts the express in Smog Star Express. None of the fuss and all of the efficiency. I had to get my car smog-certified for my DMV registration this year. So after looking around at STAR-certified smog stations on the state DMV website, I made a Sunday morning appointment with Smog Star Express the night before. I brought my DMV registration notice with me to my appointment and the smog technician had me fill out some paperwork about my car (make, model, mileage, etc.). I dropped off my car and keys and waited outside while the technician pulled my car forward into the garage to run the necessary tests. It wasn't too long before the technician reversed my car out of the garage. I got my smog test results back and paid for my service (less expensive than a tank of gas!). The technician told me that the results were transmitted electronically to the DMV, so all I had left to do was pay my registration fees. I got into my car and went on with my day feeling pleased. One more thing checked off on my to-do list, and an easy one at that. read more

Pulled in to the wrong station and risked my life crossing the street (3 of the 4 corners are gas stations). Here's a hint..it's the one in the middle or catty corner from Trader Joe's. They got me in fast, as the appointment had already been made online. The technician? Efficient, kind, and clearly knew their way around more than just mufflers. As I was wrapping up, a guy rolled up in a 1974 Pinto or Chevy Vega and pleaded for a last-minute test like it was an emissions emergency (which, I guess, it was?). Tech was torn as he wanted to assist but he's gotta follow the rules of the location. Efficient. Polite. No wallet panic. Will I be back? Absolutely--though hopefully not too soon (unless my car develops "classic" vibes overnight). 10/10 would smog again read more

As I said after getting my car smogged--this was the most convenient smog I've done since way way back when AAA used to offer the service to members. 1) you can make an appointment 2) the prices are quoted, the coupon is automatic. It's a good price! No bait and switch, oops you didn't show us the coupon before we started or other BS I've recently dealt with. 3) I wish I'd asked his name he just had a great disposition/vibe. Called same day for an appt on Sat AM. Pulled my car in for the check while my son and I stayed in the car. Thomas explained what he was doing, making it super transparent along the way. Left exactly 10 minutes later with a pass and paid $70. Fast service, fantastic technician. Getting a smog check is such a chore, but I was impressed with how much easier it was at this station. Vouss was professional and pleasant. I watched him drive the car into the stall with care and ease. He was also informative and helpful with what steps we needed to take. At the end of the test he gave us the results and stapled all of the pages together. This is the smog check location operating out of Mobile. We went without an appointment, and were next in line for the smog test. Waited 5 minutes, got checked, and were out 10 minutes later.* The technician was efficient, friendly, and very professional. *The technician discovered that our car had an unusual issue (we recently replaced the battery, so needed to drive 55mph for 5-15 minutes to trigger the computer in the car to connect to all the car's systems). He explained it very clearly, told us how to take care of it, and offered to wait after closing so we could return to complete our smog test and get our certificate. So nice! read more
