    French onion soup

Wednesday nights at Meritage. 'Nuff said! It's a delicious prize fixe menu of bread, salad, steak (or mussels) and bottomless French frites, all for $32/person. Drinks and desserts are also on the menu for additional $. Their regular menu is not in play on Wednesday nights. This restaurant transports you to France for the evening and the service is fantastic. It will be even better when you can sit on the patio in the summer. It's best to make reservations! Street parking is your option or nearby ramps. They do offer valet. Oui oui!!

I went here on a Sat night before the ballet at the Fitzgerald. Easy walking distance with parking behind the building. I started with the escargot that was perfect. I followed it with steak frites with bearnaise. I ordered medium rare as so many places tend to overcook. It came out closer to rare. Note for next time. I paired it all with a French Pinot Noir. The wine came quickly after ordering. Service all around was prompt. The place is very cute in an old building.

We went here for a promotion on steak fries. The fries were amazing, as was the French onion soup. The steak was good, but a little fatty for our taste. Our server was attentive and friendly and answered all our questions. Parking is a little annoying, but I was fine driving around the block a few times. The atmosphere was nice overall and very cozy.

The oyster bar at Meritage is one of our favorite spots to share some smaller plates - the oysters are always amazing and the bartenders are great. The steak tartare is one of our favorite tartares in the cities! The homemade potato chips really make it unique and delicious. It is also fun to sit outside on the patio during the warmer months!

My absolute favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities! The food, ambience, and service are ALWAYS fantastic! Always a great selection of oysters and on our past visit the selection was amazing. If you're looking for some bubbles or wine to go with the oysters they have an incredible wine menu! Don't skip on the escargot! The food...I can't say enough. I ordered the Assiette of Lamb and was impressed by the three different styles of lamb. The braised shoulder was amazing. Creamy and almost melted in my mouth. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the Roasted Whole Dover Sole. It is everything you want from a fish dish. Light, tender, buttery and almost sweet. Service is always perfect, never disappointing. Take advantage of the valet service here. Parking isn't easy in downtown and $20 is reasonable for valet service.

So my husband and I signed up for Meritage's 4/20 prix fixe dinner, intrigued by the idea of a cannabis-infused meal at one of our favorite French spots in St. Paul. We're casual cannabis users and were excited to see how the kitchen would play with infused flavors in a fine dining format. My husband and I signed up for Meritage's 4/20 prix fixe dinner because we were interested in the idea of a THC dining experience at that type of restaurant. When we got there, our server let us know that almost none of the dishes were actually infused with THC, aside from the dessert. The big focus was on THC drinks- which isn't really that unique or special anymore. That part definitely caught us off guard. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but the way it was framed had us expecting a different type of journey. They started us off with these little savory puff pastries that were really good. Then there was a small tasting of cauliflower soup, and even though it was tiny, it was really delicious. The first course after that was a mix of thinly sliced tuna and salmon. Absolutely loved that one. It was so fresh and I could've happily eaten an entire bowl of it. Then we had a spring pea tortellini, which I wish I could say something nice about, but... I really didn't like it. The presentation wasn't great, but more than that, the flavor just didn't land (for me). The main dish was a roasted chicken that was to be expected and the mushrooms in the dish were a pleasant surprise. The dessert was a vanilla butter cake. It was delicious, soft, and just sweet enough. Overall, we had a fun time. The vibe was still very Meritage, with a fun mix of people. I would go to another experience dinner there, but I'd want more clarity on the specifics of the experience next time.

I had high expectations for this restaurant, because I've read good reviews. We opted for the tasting menu. However, the whole experience was disappointing. The server asked if we were watching a show after, and we said no. It seems that we should have said yes because the wait per course was longer than other places I've been to. The food itself was mediocre too, some of it wasn't even hot anymore. I might be wrong but it seems that the people who are rushing had their food prioritized. The setting is ok, very refined but won't go back again.

We got a back room before lady Gaga concert and my friend who is a regular knew what to order. Little sample plates of soup and tacos were well received. A shrimp Louie was a good choice and a few people had hamburgers and fish and steak which all looked amazing.

Our fav fine dining restaurant in the twin cities! The Chef's Five Course Tasting Menu is always phenomenal. Come either hungry or starving because it's a lot of deliciousness. Ambiance is old school classy and extremely romantic. This is a perfect place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or any special occasion for someone who enjoys gourmet French cuisine. Service is top notch - just like everything else here. Pro Tips: try to find street parking, but valet is available when parking is difficult. Reservations highly recommended, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Our favorite dishes: BILLI-BI SAFFRON-MUSSEL SOUP (10/5) tiny but mighty. Rich and delicious to the last drop. Raw Oysters (5/5) fresh as can be. FOIE GRAS (5/5) they always have the best four gras at this place. Perfection. Sea Bass Carpaccio (5/5) the tiny green apple cubes were surprisingly delightful and crispy. MARINATED & GRILLED QUAIL (3/5). Skip this one. Ours was dry and there are much better options on the menu.

This place is overall one of the best I've been. From the oysters to the refreshing meals to the to die for deserts. The service was so informative of what was being served and they gave us lots of information on what we were eating or if we were hesitating. It gets busy so book reservations! This place does not disappoint! Will go back as much as I can!

Honestly my expectations were pretty low here as I've never found French cuisine all that inspiring. Meritage barely hit that very low mark. Service was good but not great. Food was pretty poor with an undercooked tough pork chop and over cooked half chicken. Cocktails were decent and we did appreciate they are very flavor forward and not sweet at all. Oysters were good though I didn't care for the mignonette sauce rather preferring a bit of spice to the very vinegar forward sauce. The fact they had several bottles of wine well over $1000 a bottle seemed so odd given the very blasé nature of the food. Far to many much better options in this price range.

We have come to meritage for brunch every weekend years ago. It was absolutely Devine! We finally went for dinner and the experience wasn't the same. The music wasn't French, the waiter was awkward. The sole meunière was wonderful but small for the price and very overcooked yet still delicious! The mussels were good, not my favorite mussel sauce. The steak tartar was great and mussels were very fresh as well.

What a fabulous restaurant! 2nd night in 3 days that we ate here, as the food and service were impeccable. Samantha, front of house manager tonight and server the previous dining evening! Exceptional! Very patient, knowledgeable about the food, which was fresh, innovative and outstanding! Mark was our wait staff this evening...so congenial, pleasant and informative about each dish that we ordered. Would definitely come here anytime we are in St. Paul! Why eat anywhere else near the Capital?! Great ambience, dishes that are thoughtfully and seasonally prepared, perfect location, and an overall simply lovely experience! Looking forward to the next time we visit St. Paul! Would definitely eat here as often as possible!

No. If it's 90 degrees and you are on the patio you can probably get away with it but inside definitely not

Here's a rundown of our amazing meal: Starters: The Kanpachi CRUDO, POMMES DAUPHINES (with amazing gruyère dipping sauce) and Chilled GREEN GAZPACHO (they split this for us since it's a soup) were all fantastic. Entrees: The Walleye was great and we really enjoyed the AMERICAN WAGYU STEAK butchers cut. They all had great and unique flavors. Desserts: The server recommended the peach cobbler and we received a delicious complimentary sundae since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Cocktails: I really enjoyed the Paper Plane since I like tequila and my husband liked his Old Fashion. The Spritz was also refreshing. The server did a great job pacing everything, and was knowledgeable with the menu and the waitstaff was polite and attentive. We reserved a table outside since it was a nice summer day and enjoyed our little spot along the restaurant. Other tips: We found free parking in the lot at the building at 5:00. Make reservations several weeks in advance if you want a table since this place is super popular. The location used to be the Revival restaurant if you are familiar with the area or the previous restaurant. We would definitely dine here again and it's one of my favorite restaurants now. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Whitney course -- it was overall a delicious delight! My favorite was the eggplant agnolotti, all around a solid course with great flavors. I quite enjoyed the rabbit and foie gras terrine as well! I would say if you aren't adventurous, this menu may be a hit or miss if you don't like specific textures. For me, I enjoyed most of everything served! My least favorite was probably the mushroom dashi-- but it was not bad. I was quite surprised to feel as full as I did at the end! I would say for the price, it is a fair amount of food especially with the amount of flair and flavors presented. I did not do a wine pairing but everything I did have from the bar was a 10/10. The restaurant interior itself was intimate and quiet. Everyone was respectful of each other's space and experience. I would say although you are quite close to your neighbors, you can easily get swept away in your own bubble. Would definitely return to enjoy a different set!

We opted for the wine pairing and I'm so glad we did. The wines complemented the food perfectly - but all would have been lovely on their own. SERVICE We felt so well taken care of our entire time there. The staff run like an extremely well-oiled machine, all while maintaining a calm and pleasant environment. I noticed and appreciated many of the small details - for example, one of the hosts made sure to revert to they/them pronouns when referring to guests. The courses and wines were perfectly timed out. We never waited too long for either, but at the same time the meal did not seem rushed. AMBIANCE It is a small and intimate space without seeming too cramped. It was cool being able to see the dishes being plated right in front of you, but it wasn't distracting. Yes, the meal is pricey. But in my opinion, this is a one of a kind experience that you cannot get anywhere else in the city and it's well worth it for a special experience that I would be happy to recommend to anyone.

I could see that since last time I was here this location has gotten a little busier. Since this restaurant is located, next to Sustainable safari, which is a tropical style animal petting zoo. Of course when I walked up, I knew exactly what to order, and that was the strawberry crepe. It seemed to have the perfect meld of dessert and lunch rolled into one. Of course it seemed to only take like 5 minutes for my order. Considering how busy they seemed was not a bad wait. I couldn't wait to devour my crepe. What more could I ask for with sliced strawberries, and some whipped cream, and chocolate drizzled all over my wrapped up crepe. It was almost like trying a rolled up burrito, but even better, especially since it was having breakfast for lunch. I did not leave any leftovers for later. When considering going out to eat, I felt that was a good thing. I so want to go back again, and maybe try a waffle, or two. To see what the other half of the menu tastes like. Maybe have a smoothie with my meal, since that was on the menu as well.
