I was disappointed that you could not go inside because of their fear of covid, but, I was able to order and they brought it outside to me. I ordered a half rack of ribs, 1 pound of Brisket, and 1 pulled pork plate with potato salad and baked beans. Back home (South LA) we have a BBQ/Smokehouse we eat from and the brisket is the BEST Ive found so far! But... Glenns ribs are by FAR the BEST Ive had from a restaurant! The taste, the tenderness & I really like the bbq sauce! The brisket was ok. But like I said, once you taste one thats way better ...well... it is, what it is. I am not trying to sound rude or mean, just always love being honest. Someone else may think his is the BEST brisket and thats great! I hope they do! Brisket was $20. bucks a pound. I bought a pound plus a half of rack of ribs. (Ribs were $25. a slab) Now, the pulled pork? Excellent! Very well cooked & even better with the sauce! The baked beans... were the absolute BEST! I wished I had more! The potato salad, was really good too! All around, I give this place a 5 STAR and recommend them to anyone to try at least once! We will order again before we head back home, Im sure. Thank You Glenns BBQ! GREAT JOB! Great service! Very fast & VERY friendly workers!

You search for the kind of places that make you question if they're even open or not. If they are, you're in for a treat. Such a place residues in the small city of Fayette, Alabama (pop. less than 5,000/less than an hour above University of Alabama). Here the paper towel rolls are on the table and the tablecloths are plain and stain resistant. Cups and plates are styrofoam, utensils are plastic. And the food, well you already know after reading thus far. Now I'll go ahead and mention that they do serve a few non-bbq related items; burgers, ham sandwiches, pork chops, and a variety of pies (by the slice). To these, I cannot speak. My order was that of a marathon runner just crossing the finish line. Large pork sandwich plate with okra, green beans, mac n cheese, and sweet tea to wash it all down. I was there with family, but their words and laughs soon faded as I took bite after delicious bite from my plate. I can't prove it, but I am sure there was a period of food coma blindness where my eyes were closed so I could give full attention to the savory meat with its molasses and brown sugar kissed sauce coming across my palette like a holiday gift to my tastebuds. Needless to say I refilled my cup a few times (including for the road) and that proved to be all the dessert I required. I am not in this area often, but I promise that any time I am Lisa's will be a required stop.

The building is classic roadhouse style--totally unpretentious with its sign and adverts plaster on the walls. The interior is the same, open seating and seats at the bar. The menu has broadened over the years, rather than just ribs, white bread and pudding, you can get a pork sandwich and chicken with a limited number of sides (the Mac and cheese is superior). The franchised Dreamlands are so different with a plethora of choices, more to the liking of the suburban south. If you like that, go for it. For my money, you can't beat the original. The ribs are charred perfectly and the service is old time South, friendly and helpful. You immediately feel at ease with everything and everyone around you. Take out is available--actually this place is just minutes off the highway. But a whole another world at the same time.

They had a home, love, and story to tell. I took my family here as we traveled through. We were hours away when I would tell them stories of traveling here just for the best ribs I ever eaten. It was now an adventure. We arrived and the building looked the same, the customer service polite and inviting. The atmosphere superb. The food not so much. The ribs were charred, there was hardly any meat. It was the worst ribs I had in a long time. The ribs did not have that love they once had, they no longer had that care of the art of bbq. I felt horrible that I spent so much and took my family here. O' how I dream of those days at Dreamland when the ribs just fell off that bone and the eagerness of the next bite because they were so so good. I pray one day they will go back to their roots and the dream that Dreamland once had to provide the best southern bbq ribs around.

As I have mentioned before, there are a limited amount of sit down restaurants in this vicinity. As a dedicated "Yelper", all of the reviews on multiple platforms have been reviewed and re-evaluated for possible exciting new discoveries. Interviewing and requesting feedback from the locals is a consistent way of finding these treasures as well. We may have resigned ourselves to the possibility that we may never find all of the criteria that make for a successful dining experience here in Guin, Alabama. Delicious fresh food; attentive, timely service; and a comfortable dining atmosphere. Everything else is just extra! Hambone's BBQ has none of those things. The front entrance has no signage and you can't be 100% sure you are here. The inside reminds me of going to the American Legion with Uncle Bob when I was a kid. The mismatch furniture and odd decor is illuminated by an early 70's fluorescent lighting and I can't see any design theme at all. I get the sense we decorated from someone's yard sale. The food was nothing to write home about. I ordered the #78. This was a thick sliced baked potato that has been (supposedly) deep fried, sprinkled with shredded cheese, cubed brisket pieces added with a tiny bit of sour cream, bacon, and a whole lot of pickled Jalapeños (Like covered with Jalapeños). Lisa and Mom had the same thing but with BBQ pulled pork and Aunt K. went with the #78 with chicken. Uncle ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the boys had the ribs, and catfish. I did like the ribs! Very tender and tasty when you slather it with sauce. But, unfortunately, nothing else seemed to work. I don't know what to say about the #78 except, KUDOS for trying, I guess. I'm sorry but, none of us enjoyed it. Reports from the family came in as the following: The chicken was dry and needed seasoning, the catfish was chewy on the edges, dry towards the center, with a distinct fishy taste, and definitely needed some additional seasoning. Uncle was not impressed. The smoked meat, itself, was well prepared (as average smoked BBQ goes). Mom was disappointed. The service was fine. There were 5-6 teenagers serving the few customers in on a Saturday evening and checked on us frequently. They were very polite and our food came out fairly quickly. I will say, as a side note, the drive through was pretty steady. We were a bit surprised to be greeted by the owner (Greg) sporting his tattered overalls and ball cap. He sat and joined us for a bit of conversation during our meal. If you decide to visit this place on your way through, I would recommend hitting the drive through and definitely choose the ribs, and ask for extra sauce. Sorry Greg. Billy P.
