The food service and ambience were fantastic. The smoked flavor of the food was not overbearing where they take over your taste buds for hours and maybe up until the next day the taste was just right not two season but very far from underseasoned and easy to pull and eat right off your fork. Not a bad little restaurant tucked away in River Ranches We walked in on a a very busy New Years weekend and we were told 1 1/2 hours wait. We waited and 30 minutes, and we were seated. I ordered the ribeye steak with onion rings and bbq beans The steak was supposed to be 14 ounces but I can't really believe it was, although it was quité tasty. The onion rings were perfect. Decent enough food for a resort restaurant. As you can see in the photos, the portions are large. Burger & fries tasted yummy, garlic parm wings were not crispy enough and lacked flavor, could have definitely used more garlic. The server was very attentive give to our large group of 11 (8 were kids), she kept the drinks filled & checked in often. The restaurant followed strict COVID guidelines. I ordered a lemon drop martini and they said they "didn't know if they had that" which is a pretty basic drink so I was a bit disappointed in that. I booked a RV Site at River Ranch RV Resort which comes with many amenities including all the fun things to see and do at the Westgate property, Westgate Smokehouse Grill is one of several restaurants on the property. We arrived here early evening to grab a burger on the day we arrived, We were seated immediately and our server Heather arrived within a minute or two with two menus and a friendly smile - after spending a few hours setting up camp in the Florida heat and a few beers all we wanted to do was hydrate so we both decided on a large unsweetened ice tea and boy let me tell you it's the real deal here, strong brewed and refreshing. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy but after we were seated it seemed lots of the guest had the same idea we did, there was a steady flow of customers and as large as the dining area is it became apparent this place was quite popular. Heather returned with our teas and we placed our dinner order, although it was Friday Night Fish Fry, the smell coming off the large bbq pit outside had us both wanting something with a little smoke, this monster pit was attended by nothing other than a cowboy with a ten gallon hat and definitely a pit master. The half pound of certified beef was cooked to a perfect medium, the fresh toasted bun topped with vine ripened tomatoes, crispy lettuce, thinly sliced red onion and pickles made this burger a great choice it was delicious - the sides are either fries or slaw, we opted for the fries, tornado cut also known a spiral not the most common cut but fitting and cooked crispy. This place exceeded my expectations, and I set the bar pretty high in regards to the food, the service was very good as well, being this place is located a few miles south of nowhere and it's a real ranch I'm going to say the place looked a little worn or maybe it was just that it had the atmosphere of a chuckwagon after a long cattle drive, a little dusty and in disarray but I'm not gonna penalize them for that it kinda adds to the authenticity... read more

Never been here before and was excited to dive in, we ordered food which looked great on the pictures, the price was eh. You have to order on a kiosk and they call your name, it was not like a restaurant feeling, more fast food. When the food came out (which took a little bit), each of the 3 plates were cold, we got the fries with pulled pork and they gave us just fries! They remade everything and when she brought the food out it was hot, but gave us 2 of the same dishes and we then again had to wait for our combo plate to come out, however she let us keep the extra plate. After finally getting seated after 45 min, we sat at our table and waited on the server... and waited... and waited. Then she/he came to take our drink order and we put drinks and food in, because the reputation of bad service preceded them. It took 15 minutes just for our drinks to come out. Then after 45 minutes our food arrived. We had to wolf it down to get out of there to the rodeo, so we could get a seat. I think my burger tasted good? As part of our RV trip, we ran out of dinner options while staying at River Ranch. We decided to stop in for dinner at the only dine in restaurant on the site. Location is great and we decided to sit outside. What I can honestly say is it wasn't bad and it wasn't the greatest. The place was completely empty. We were the only ones sitting. As an appetizer we ordered the alligator nuggets. Actually this was pretty good. As my meal, I ordered the shrimp skewers with a baked potato and salad. It was okay. I ate it. My husband had the bbq chicken and ribs. He only ate the ribs. He stated it was too saucy. He didn't find anything impressing. I would imagine if we would have come in on another day then maybe the vibe would have been better. But the food is average and just a bit pricey. read more

Good food, server was nice as well as all other employees we encountered, covid protocols all seemed to be followed by employees. We split a salad that was listed as an appetizer and the combination platter. It was a perfect amount for us to share and get a taste of most of the menu. Everything was good. The Brisket was as hard as a rock and was over 50% FAT!! The pulled chicken was mostly FAT, the bun at the bottom was also as hard as a rock. Another piece of Chicken came with it that was all dark meat and not very good. Service was also very bad. The lady never came back to the table to ask if we needed anything. All the servers were in the butler area talking, why take care of the customers. I laid out all the fat on a piece of paper and asked the server to show this to the chef, she had nothing to say!! Was hoping for a better experience. The salmon was freezer burn and dried, gross. The coleslaw was rotten. The waitress was nice but overwhelmed with all the tables and we waited quite a long time for drinks. Our food was taking forever, the hostess realized we still didn't have anything on our table and went to check on it for us and brought it back. It obviously sat under a heat lamp for sometime. For all the money we spent there for the weekend it should've been a five star dining experience. read more

Not to many dining options when staying at Westgate so you're bound to end up at the smokehouse grill. Nice and cozy restaurant sitting on part of the Kissimmee river. You have the option of sitting inside the restaurant with an unobstructed view of the river thanks to the wall of very CLEAN windows or you can sit outside on the large screened-in porch. It can get a little hot outside during the summer months. The service was good. The food is average and the drinks are a little on the weak side. Wish they had a few healthy options. read more

Really good food, great view and nice breeze. I was a fan of their choices of house made BBQ sauces. My biggest issue is the price. The amount of food I received was a very small compared to the amount of food I received. I spent almost 20 dollars for what felt like only 10 dollars or less of food. Everything else was good the service was quick the staff's attitude could use a little boost in energy. Overall good except the price is ridiculously high for what you get. Really enjoyed dinner and since we are both from Texas we know our Barbecue! The brisket was tender and had a good smoked flavor. I personally thought both their tangy barbecue sauce and the Carolina sauce were excellent. My sister had the smoked chicken which she thought was very good. It is a good place to go after a long day at west gate. The waitstaff are friendly and down to earth, and the food is good! I greatly enjoyed my pulled pork. The fries are AWESOME! My only constructive criticism would be for them to serve reusable cutlery, along with sour cream and butter that comes in a ramekin or something; as opposed to pre wrapped individual butter pats and sour cream packets, in order to elevate the dining experience. I get that it's supposed to be "down home" and unpretentious, but since they're adding more glamp style experiences, it would be advisable to cater to that clientele. read more

We came here based on a recommendation from someone who apparently comes here a lot. And the biggest thing I can say is DON'T Drink the Water! Seriously it takes like swamp water. It was disgusting. The meal itself was nothing great. I had the salmon with sweet potato fries and the Cesar salad. My hubby had the ribeye, mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert we had the apple tart. In order of their quality and taste (best to worst) Apple tart mashed potatoes Sweet potato fries Salmon Green beans Ribeye And the salad- it was drowning in dressing Sadly, there isn't much else in the area so the options are llimited. We ate at the Smokehouse Grill on Friday May 13 about an hour before the kitchen closed. The brisket was moist and flavorful. The kids had the chicken strips, corn on the cob and fries. The chicken was tender and tasty. The fries were so good we ordered another side of fries. The homemade iced tea was refreshing. We were too full for dessert so no comment on that. The kids had a blast looking for alligators by the dock through the outdoor patio window. Our waitress Tia, along with all the other personnel, were attentive, friendly, informative and professional. We learned al lot ot about the resort our first night there from Tia who seemed to know just about everything about what there is to do there and that we should try as many things as we could while we were there, especially the rodeo and street party. I thought that was impressive and a sign that we were going to have a really fun seamless weekend with no snags. And we surely did. Actually looking forward to going back and bringing more people and staying longer than Friday night to mid Sunday. The breakfast buffet was really good the next morning. Go hungry! read more

I'm surprised at the low scores in the reviews. I've been coming here almost every week for three months. We recently bought a property at River Ranch. If you don't want to cook, you have three choices. This, the deli at the town center, or drive 30 miles into town. So, obviously, we come here often. First, service is always outstanding. We are always greeted cheerfully and even when we have to wait for a seat (which is not often) everyone is very nice and accommodating. The menu is not very extensive but what they have is very good. Appetizers, sandwiches, all very good. And their Saturday buffet is delicious. I've tried just about everything in their menu. Sandwiches, salads, ribs, burgers, etc. My favorite is the Wrangler, a chips appetizer with chili, and their fish sandwich. I drive into town often but that's because I like variety, and having tried their entire menu I sometimes crave something else. But this restaurant serves quality food and the service is outstanding.
