A great stop for lunch with chipped sandwiches, potato salad and Brunswick stew. Two sweet teas were the drink selection. Another great experience from one of our favorite local barbecue restaurants. A shoutout to the staff that was running short handed on the day we stopped in, but keep grinding to take care of us. I got four ribs which I'd say was pretty tender and delicious( comes with white bread and pickles) . I do wish the ribs came with a side, but you can buy sides separately. There side options I noticed didn't have Mac n cheese, potato salad or Brunswick stew. But overall rating the ribs I ordered was very nice! read more

This is definitely a hole in the wall business you would definitely pass it if you didn't know about it. The BBQ rib plate is what I ordered and on point they didn't even need bbq sauce added to them. The meat falls off the bone when you pull it absolutely amazing bbq. Stew used to be THE BEST! Now it is 1/2 stew, half water. No flavor at all. Today, I used paper towels to soak up the liquid in by 16 oz cup. I had about 1/2 cup of stew remaining and a huge pile of wet paper towels. I spoke with the owner who told me it "It just depends on who heats it up" . No "sorry", nothIng. This is not the first time its been watery but it was the worst. We wont be back. read more

I am not a Columbus local but I visit the area once a month on business. I have been to Peppers twice now and both times were very good experiences. I had the large rib platter both times, which had 5 bones (St. Louis cut spare ribs) and 2 sides. So far I have tried the mac salad, potato salad, stew and beans and my favorites among those were the macaroni salad and the beans. They have a variety of sauces, all homemade, and all very good. Wonderful barbecue. They have good chipped pork sandwiches. The kind I especially like. And they have wonderful sauces too. Some are especially hot, which you cannot find at many places. I came here for lunch before my flight out of Columbus. I ordered a pulled pork plate (I chose the 8 oz size) and it came with bread and pickles. I'd never had pork like that before but it allows you to wrap the bread around the pork like a southern taco. There were four types of barbecue sauce. The two I tried were delicious. Columbus has the best Barbeque pork in the world. I have been all over the USA and had the different cuts, meats and sauces but I love my West Georgia Barbecue the best!. That being said, Pepper's has the best quality meat in town. These guys know what they are doing. Perfectly cooked, pulled and chopped. The remove all the fat. The yellow mustard sauce is the same sauce I remember my grandad loving and I'm proud to see my grandkids loving it too. The Brunswick stew (not chili, LOL) and BBQ slaw are the best in town too. I am a BBQ junkie and cook off competitor from Memphis so to me this entire areas BBQ is sad and under cooked. This is the best around Columbus hands down. First time visit, liked the inside, gave it a homey feel. Nice decor, plenty of tables and seating for the lunch crowd. Place was busy with lunch customers, but service was quick. The sandwich was tasty, good sized portions for the price. Sweet tea was good and not TOO sweet. I thought the sauces were a little watery but overall flavor was good. Hands down the best Barbeque ribs you can find in Columbus. The prices are a little on the pricey side (especially when you adding a drink), but the ribs are well worth it. I wasn't a fan of the side dishes to much or their barbeque sandwiches, but Pepper's can cook ribs and this alone keeps me coming back for more. Its a very small restaurant and gets pretty crowded quickly mid way between lunch and dinner. read more

OMG Pepper's BBQ is THE BEST BBQ that I have EVER put in my mouth!!! their PORK BBQ sandwich is simply AMAZING! I get the finely chopped and I like it plain just the meat and the bread with lots of those extra dill pickles....mmmm....it is soooo good! I also am a big fan of their slaw dogs and that Brunswick stew I could eat by the gallon!!!!! My husband really likes their mustard based BBQ sauce and pours that on his sandwiches and he likes the slaw on his pork sandwiches just like they come. the staff is ALWAYS friendly and the food could NOT taste ANY better! I am an ARMY wife and we moved several years ago and the BBQ in TX and NM just does NOT compare! it is BEEF here and WAY more expensive and NOT NEARLY as good! EVERY SINGLE TIME we go home to visit my family in C-town, Pepper's is where we go to eat FANTASTIC BBQ!! I even bought a gallon sized bag full of their pork meat to freeze and drive all the way back to fort bliss, texas (21 hr drive) to have in our freezer for when my husband came home from deployment! he thought he had died and gone to heaven! I've been coming here a couple of times a month for years and always had great food. This time a guy who said he was the owner took my order and didn't know how to operate the register. He tried to overcharge me 3 time before I convinced him he was incorrect, I get the same thing every time and I know how much it is. Then I waited almost 10 minutes for my order, I was the only one in the place and just got a chipped sandwich and a cup of stew. He put it on a tray when I ordered it to go and got irritated when I corrected him again. By now the lady I usually deal with came in and gave me my bag. I checked it and the stew was room temperature. Having been in the restaurant business for over 20 years, I am cautious of hot food not held at the proper temp. I told them I just wanted a refund. He argued with me that the stew was hot, and stirred it up from the bottom of the pot to show me. Again, I said I just wanted a refund and to leave. Then the lady asked if I wanted her to check the temperature of mine. I said for the 3rd time, I just want a refund and to leave. He then took $10 from the register and threw it at me. You lost a long time patron because of this guy's attitude. read more
