While visiting Niagara Falls I knew I had to try poutine. I found out this location was nearby where I was staying. When I walked in the walls were filled with pictures of the food and fun art. There was also music videos playing on a TV which was awesome to watch while I waited for my food to be ready. I ordered the Traditional Poutine and the Bacon Cheeseburger poutine. The cashier was so friendly and patient while I asked a few questions. Once it was ready it was HOT and overflowing. The traditional was really good. I personally would've liked less gravy, but I think most people would've loved how much they gave. As for the bacon cheeseburger, I felt like the beef could've been more seasoned, but the bacon and cheese covered fries hit the spot. All options start with the same base of French fries with cheese curds and gravy. But not knowing exactly what we were getting into, we decided to share an order. When they asked what size, he pointed to the container sizes, so we opted for large...not realizing how full they pack the containers! The shop is very small, with limited seating inside. The walls covered with funny slogans and self advertisement. Being off peak eating season, the order came out quickly, and damn was that thing full! As a tourist who has never had great poutine from Quebec, I think this was very good poutine! A lot of locals hate on this place but I couldn't find a reason to be upset. My fries were fresh, the curds squeaked in my mouth, and the gravy was flavorful. The service was friendly and helped me pick out a local favorite to add on to my traditional. Interesting stop while in Niagara Falls near the Clifton Hill district. This location is on a busy side street north of the Clifton Hill district. They offer parking at $4/car which is fairly reasonable considering some of the adjacent options. Inside is fairly small, well traveled and not well kept. The kitchen was small and only two people appeared to be working on what was a busy lunch rush. We love poutine, were back in Canada, and who can say no to a "poutinerie"? They have an array of choices over frozen type fries. Pricing varied from $12 to $17 canadian and $3 for a water. We tried traditional and bacon cheeseburger. We enjoyed both options, the gravy was flavorful with fresh cheese curds, the bacon and burger were tasty but fries were just okay. Portions were large and the two boxes were plenty for my party of 3. It was OK and satisfied the craving for the foreseeable future. With so few people working, the array of toppings for the various poutine options are made well in advance. We got it with sriracha, guacamole, jalapeños, cheese sauce, roasted red peppers, pulled pork and perogies. Ordered two meal size which came to a little over $40 CAN so a bit pricey for chips, but usually this place is pretty solid. Lots of options and everything is prepared once ordered so you have hot fries each time. In the chaos of Clifton Hill, which is mostly full of chain restaurants, we found an actual poutine shop in Canada. In our quest to eat food that is from the area we're in, we stopped in. There are multiple sizes of poutine, but I was going for value, so I got the biggest size they have and shared it with my kids. I didn't look like a huge box but we couldn't even finish it. We got as many toppings as we could to try to get max value, but I wish we had just gotten the traditional poutine, because I didn't really enjoy all the bacon bits, sour cream, and extra toppings, which took away from the yummy gravy sauce. The fries weren't very crispy and the gravy was salty. I regret listening to the cashier's recommendation that Smoke's had good pulled pork. It was sweet and the texture was stringy. If you want specialty poutine, this is your place! This was my second time here and brought more friends to try it. Some of the best gravy around and the cheese curds are squeaky and delicious. The inside of the restaurant has a table with bar seats along the front window and a couple extra tables of 4. Not too much seating, but if it's a nice day you can always walk with it. They offer 3 sizes for the regular poutine, snack, medium and large. For the specialty flavors, just the medium and large are offered. The 4 of us could barely finish these 2 large containers. While the original was nice and simple, the butter chicken flavors made it our favorite. There were at least a half dozen other tempting options that I wished we could try. My recommendation is to order the regular size but mix up the varieties to try (and share). This place loses a star simply cuz the dining room is way too small and one of the menu screens were not working so half of the menu was unavailable to us. My go-to spot in Niagara Falls, ON. I ordered the "wow" size for lunch as I was starving after driving up from Syracuse, NY and not having eaten for about 6 hours. I ordered the traditional poutine and let me tell you, pure perfection! The fries were perfectly fried, the curds squeaky, and the gravy so savory and with a hint of sage. omg! I dream of that gravy. But the wow size was way too big for me and I can definitely eat. If I could give 0, I would. I was very excited to visit this place w my family after seeing the Niagara Falls. On Yelp and Google, it said it would be open 12a-12p. We came around 2:30p on a Thursday and it was CLOSED. No sign of a soul anywhere, all chairs were stacked up and there wasn't even a sign out front to explain maybe why they were closed. Just seemed like no one decided to show up to work today. And it felt super weird for them to be closed considering it's located on the busy boardwalk near the falls. It's a pretty hole in the wall location and a hole in the wall atmosphere with the single worker only peaking his head out when the odd straggler rambles in looking for poutine. I LOVE poutine, so I was happy to find a vegan option! Sadly, this place completely disappointed me. that they had vegan poutine! The Vegan Classic Poutine description says, "Our Vegan classic poutine is just as delicious as our signature classic poutine." The description for the Classic Poutine reads, "The in house made gravy has the perfect creamy texture topped with delicious pieces of cheese curds & melting cheese." Unfortunately, the vegan poutine is NOT classic as it has no cheese. There are plenty of options for vegan cheese. To serve 'classic' poutine without cheese misrepresented what I was purchasing. What I paid for vs what I got was truly disappointing. I got fries covered is gravy and a few vegan meatballs that were not very good.
