We always love Cracker Barrel! I have celiac disease and they have a wide variety of food here that I can eat. I particularly love the spicy, grilled catfish! If you put that along side, some sweet tea, or some southern half-and-half, you've got an excellent meal going on. The service seems to always be top notch. I am not one who likes to sit and wait for somebody to fill up my drink and there is always someone there just doing that. And what can I say about the aura and ambience of this place. It always makes you think about things from your past as you look at the cool decorations on the walls. The only thing is some of those things that are considered history, I remember as a kid. I stopped to eat a quick lunch and to start there was a group of 20+ middle school kids and some moms. They ended up sitting them all around me (I was by myself) which made no sense considering there was an entire side full of empty tables. I had a breakfast and had to ask for a second coffee which I received after my meal was done. Then about 15 more minutes for my check. I had to share a waitress with them and it was like I wasn't there. Then to top it off I spent 15 minutes waiting to pay because the computer had gone down... the lady kept telling me it would just be a minute and if longer I'd get my meal free. Was seated after 5-minutes waiting at the desk. Looked at the menu and selected the meal, but no one ever came to take an order. Watched four employees talk to each other. Another one came to clear the table behind me, but a different employee getting off work came to talk to him and he stopped working. Decided they were trying to see if they waited long enough, I would leave. I came in an hour prior to their closing time. I finally accommodated them after 10-minutes of no one taking my order or even asking me if I wanted something to drink. Looks like they had a rough day and should have just closed. I went to a really nice Hardees in the Loves Truck stop next door. It was very good and it took 2-minutes to order and be served a great meal. My husband and I came in had to wait for 20 minutes on our drinks we ordered. We had no silverware when the waitress brought us silverware she only had two forks, one butter knife and a steak knife. She told us they were out of silverware placed our food order and then it took about another 30 minutes to come out and half of it wasn't with the plates she brought out. Manger was walking by talking to a select few tables and avoided our table on purpose. This has to be the worst experience I have ever had here. read more

Yes, store ... well actually restaurant... do people actually plan shopping trips to Cracker Barrel and skip the eating? If you paid attention to their post experience online survey you'd think the store meant as much or more to management than the meal does but we came for the meal. TWENTY NORTHERNERS worn out from a day's adventure of hiking, swimming and parental moments of chastisement. All walking right through the country store past cast iron griddle pans, country music and Miss Trish's cookbook prepared with loving notes about Garth. I took the back of the pack position not wanting to see the host's face when this smelly throng appeared but we were taken immediately with total ... and I mean TOTAL COMPLETE COMPREHENSIVE AMAZING warmth! We were their guests and they wanted us to sit a spell to enjoy their corporate menu of southern food. Yes, you can close your eyes, kick your heels and wish upon a star before sitting down at another Cracker Barrel and not know one from the other. They go out of their way to accent the walls with antique imagery from the surrounding community but 19th century Americana looks like 19th century Americana wherever you are. Cracker Barrel's corporate management obviously insures that each restaurant looks exactly alike ... including the peg game on the table (Sadly, ours was missing a golf tee which made playing the game more challenging for the adults who immediately chose that options while the teens were busy with their electronic devices.). Ok, the menu is the same one I looked at in Clarence New York and in Mount Laurel New Jersey. If you have seen one Cracker Barrel menu you know what it looks like. If you haven't ... the menu's tell a great story of country vittles. Yes, there are greens ... and corn bread ... and gravy plus meatloaf and fried chicken. Cured ham and sweet potato. Always a deal of the day plus some country lemonade and sweet tea! Someday by accident I am going to walk into the kitchen of one of these corporate eateries looking for the rest room to see if there are chefs actually cooking or if there is just a collection of microwaves heating the prepackaged corporate food because at places like CRACKER BARREL the food always tastes the same ... I do give CRACKER BARREL an edge in that where it is made on site or in some factory the food always tastes pretty darn good. So, why the 4 starts for a formulated corporate restaurant attached to a country store located just off an interstate to maximize traffic through its doors. SERVICE ... it's all about being treated the right way! These folks kept checking on us ... caring for us ... filling our water glass ... a young man who I assume was the manager in his country look including a bow tie came smiling to our tables at the end of the meal askin 'did y'all have a good meal?' They truly wanted to see if they could do anything for us. And then the bonus ... 'would you like to give y'all separate checks?' Would we? WOW ... we don't have to figure out 20 checks ... bingo bonus .. you bet y'all (BTW ... y'all can be used to address one individual or a group of individuals. I learned that down in the holler!)! So, we checked out in the store ... hit the road and the other adults said "that's why we always stop at this Cracker Barrel each year when we come to Kentucky on our mission trips. Weren't they awesome?" Yes, they were and my food (The SAMPLER) was hot and yummy filling my tummy to a point that I couldn't eat a third cornbread muffin. I thought that some of the one star reviews at this restaurant could have been unwarranted, so we took a chance tonight. Wow, it was really that bad. Like some of the other reviewers have said, I've been to CB in several states, but have never had an experience that bad. The waitress came to the table and masked how we were. We replied with great, how about you? Her response... I'm tired. Never I'm my life have I had a CB server not be welcoming and make us feel like family. Like some of the other reviewers said, our order came out incorrect, and we were missing 1 of our 4 meals. We were assured that it would be right out, but we just needed to wait for chicken tenders. When we asked for napkins and jelly for our biscuits, our server seemed so annoyed that we would ask for such silly things. We finally asked the manager what was going on with those chicken tenders and they magically appeared. No apologies, so discounts, just... does that look okay now. Seriously, if I ever ended up in this part of the country again, I would way rather eat a hot dog that's been on the roller all day at a local gas station than to eat here. On a caravan trip with family to virginia, we made a pit stop at this Cracker Barrel for lunch. The wait was long. I can't say that I would have willingly waiting this long to eat Cracker Barrel, but my hands were tied. There were multiple people not wearing masks and perusing the store - I immediately decided to wait outside. Yikes! The dining area was adequately spaced, and I felt super comfortable there. The wait to get a table was long, and you could tell the server was busy. I ordered the chicken tenders, due to nothing sounding great at the time. The food was fine - pretty standard Cracker Barrel fare. Our server was nice and attentive. The hash brown casserole wasn't my favorite, but the fried apples were enjoyable. I'm a truck driver and often stop and eat at the Cracker Barrel locations. This restaurant at this location has got be the worst location I've been too. It took 5 minutes for the hostess to seat me she wasn't at her station and she wasn't helping anyone. She sat me at my table with menu and no utensils, odd but ok. She walked away doesn't look back. As I sit at my table looking over the menu I noticed it's been 3 minutes and no waitress. So I set my stopwatch and begin to time the service. 12 minutes later what looks like the manager asks if I have been helped yet and I said no. He asks if he can start me on my beverage. I asked for coffee. He appears 2 minutes later with my coffee and proceeded to tell me my waitress would be with me shortly. 4 minutes later she appears. She apologizes for not having a pen and asked what I would like to have she'll remember my order. Yes, I'll have the mommas butter milk breakfast pancakes with 2 eggs on top and for meat I'll have spicy chicken sausage. She takes that order and they work their magic in the kitchen. 12 minutes later she comes out with my order. 3 pancakes 2 eggs on top sunny side up. I noticed no salt no pepper. That's ok. I can add it myself. She leaves with a "hope you enjoy" ... excuse me ma'am. But how exactly do i eat this, barehanded or with utensils? (I was trying to be funny and not come off as a terrible customer) She looks at me with a smile and says "no with....Uh. You don't have utensils". Can I have some please? "Sure" as she walks away. Comes back with the tools I need to start this wonderful meal they've prepared for me. 16 minutes later she reappears, "can I get you anything?" Yes please a refill on the coffee and napkins. She leaves comes back with napkins no coffee. Ma'am as I hold my empty cup in the air "can I get some coffee?", "Oh yes" she walked back into the kitchen only to reappear 8 minutes later with my ticket and no coffee. I would like to make clear that while I feasted on my meal, I observed the waiters go in and out the kitchen laughing smiling at each other. Mean while I stared at my almost empty coffee cup and prayed I had enough to help wash down my last bite of pancakes. But it wasn't. I placed my cup across my table in disappointment and used the last few pieces of spicy chicken sausage to clean the yoke of my plate and help me push down that last bite. No water! No coffee! I warn you. If a good meal is what you seek and bad service doesn't sway you away. Stop on by. The cashier won't even ask if you enjoyed your meal. I left no tip. I feel guilty and this why I'm writing this review. But the service was terrible. read more

Well the food was good. Most of it that is. It took forever. One waitress took our order and we NEVER saw her again. After waiting nearly 40 minutes for our food, I asked another waitress if she could check on our order. She politely informed us that she was our waitress now and the first waitress 'had left.' We finally got our food but it must have taken four trips to get everything we ordered and get it right. Missing order of fries. Cold cheeseburger with toppings specifically NOT requested. Replacement better but no cheese. And my favorite is the bowl of fresh fruit I received. (see picture - this is how it was originally served to me). When I showed the manager the picture and asked if that was normal she said "No" and offered to get another for me. I just didn't have time at this point. Worst Cracker Barrell I've ever been to. Food is such low standard. The Southern Salad had almost no cheese (what happened to the cheese wedge?), no croutons (zero!), a way over done tiny egg, 4 slices of cucumber, and a few cherry tomatoes. The chicken strips weren't strips at all. It was some kind of flat frozen patty looking thing. It was maybe 1/4 " thick. As for the lettuce, it had what looked like only the center parts of iceberg lettuce, and the amount of salad was crazy small. Usually, at other Cracker Barrels, the ROMAINE lettuce is piled high. We sat at the table for over an hour before our food came (somewhat understandable if there is a shortage of workers, though it did not appear to be the case). People are so nice. The place was clean and service fast but having never eaten at a Cracker Barrel before I have to say I was really disappointed by the food quality. I ordered the turkey dinner and it reminded me of a TV dinner my mom tried to feed me as a child. Not one of my favorite childhood memories. After hearing the name and seeing the commercials on TV all these years I guess I was just expecting more. We stopped at this location for dinner before stopping for the night. Our server Melanie was fantastic! After we mentioned that we were just leaving first thing in the morning to continue our drive, she loaded us up with extra biscuits and corn bread. This is huge for us since both our kids get car sick so having that to help keep their stomachs settled on the road is a big deal. At least they are consistent. Consistently good service. Consistently "OK" food. Consistent country feel. But I am never impressed, and usually feel as though there is much to be desired. I love playing the peg game on the tables and rambling through their country store, but that's about the extent of my love affair with the CB. Their 4 veggie plate is my go to, and again, it was ok - but I felt like each item was slather in butter: green beans, mashed potatoes and fried apples. The only thing that wasn't swimming in oil was my side salad. When you are on the road this is our go to, but that is the only time we stop in. read more
