Went on a Saturday. They were having $2.50 vodka drinks. The fried provolone was delicious! We had 2 types of wings: the french something that was not that great, but the medium parmesan was great! Wings were served with celery and carrot sticks. We loved that we had 15 wings, cheese sticks, 4 vodka drinks & 4 draft beer for $36. The bartender was attentive and willing to make sure we liked the beers before ordering. She asked questions and gave several samples before we could decide on the perfect one. Bartenders are inconsiderate jerks. I walked in well before happy hour, while 4 bartenders blatently ignored me. Then when I finally caught the attention of one female bartender, she refused to give me the special, even though it still wasn't 7. They were very inconsiderate, gave poor service, and I will never go back here. read more

We ordered Smokin Joe's thru Uber Eats. The wait time for delivery was 45-55 mins which was perfectly reasonable. Uber Eats dispatched a driver to pick up our order 40 mins after it was placed. The driver was told by the manager that they do not process Uber Eats order. I subsequently called Smokin Joe's on the phone and spoke with the same manager who informed me that when she is working they do not process Uber Eats orders. I told her that she should have her restaurant removed from the app, and she said that she has told the owner that she will not process Uber Eats orders, suggesting implicitly that the owner disagreed with her stance, and refused to remove the restaurant from Uber Eats. I then suggested that she should have canceled 45 mins ago when the order was filled, whereby she proceeded to tell me "sorry you're hangry but you sound like a big boy, and I'm sure you can figure it out." Do not eat here! They are disrespectful to customers. The manager should be fired. read more

Decent drinks, prices, and atmosphere, but I had the worst customer experience service of my life here. I was DDing for some friends on a trip to South Side, and they were planning to close the bars. While at Smokin Joes, the two others that I was with ordered a pitcher at about 1:15, and we were asked to leave at 1:30. When they asked to finish their pitcher, the server said "you are finished" and took it away / poured the roughly $20 pitcher down the drain. When I asked for the server's name, I planned to call the next day and complain and made that clear, he refused, began yelling, and grabbed me while escorting me out. This is the worst service that I have ever had, and I would avoid this place like the plague if it is past 12:30 am. read more

The finest speak easy in the tri state area and possibly the entire planet. The Beer selection is as broad as your ever gonna get both on tap and in bottles. Very fun atmosphere and the bartenders and wait staff are both very fun and friendly. OK occasionally they will hijack the juke box and play music no mortal would want to hear but that's a minor flaw at most and playing a little Neil Young or Dylan on the box quickly erases the memory. The food is good bar food not exceptional but still very tasty. But I'm there for the beer, friends and fun. Smokin' Joes is definitely a bar to frequent, god knows I certainly do! read more

Stuffed from a burger and sundae, I eventually ended up a few blocks down the street at Smokin' Joes to close out the afternoon. Of course I didn't eat anything, but just grabbed a drink. I was initially excited about the excellent variety of beer selections and I may have stayed for more than one pint except for one thing: the three douche bags sitting next to me at the bar. Obviously, all single, late 30-something know-it-alls who felt it necessary to talk about international politics, recessive genetics and other completely random stuff, all ultra boring for a bar on a Saturday afternoon. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad had they not been the type of idiots who unintentionally talked loudly to one another, even though they were all sitting close together and there were few other patrons in the place. Apparently, we all had to hear the 'intellectuals' impart their wisdom on and about the world. After a short time, I downed my beer, got an acknowledged eye-roll out of the guy sitting on my other side and got the heck out of there feeling very annoyed. I realize Joe's has no control over which idiots walk through their door, so I'll probably give them another chance someday. read more

No smoking on East Carson is always awesome, and the draft selection is crazy good. Totally average and some above average bar fare, but the 25 cent wings on wednesdays during Trivia was why we checked it out. The wings and beer were good, but the Trivia kind of sucked. It was crazy hard and the teams that were doing well had their phones out the whole time. Also the host was basically making out with the microphone when reading the questions and was almost unintelligible. And the song breaks and time to answer the questions were soooo longgg the whole thing dragged. It was not the trivia night for our group, but we will back back for the beers and wings. read more

Here on Vacation last week. Great place. I watched football on Sunday. Most locals were upset with the Steelers beat down that Baltimore handed them but no worries, at the end of the day the locals on the South Side still had a great time. Good times with good people no doubt. read more

Went for our first time for wing night. Good food, great selction of beer. Sadly, there was one waitress I believe, or so it seemed. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them, 45 minutes for my soft pretzel?? And wings. You could tell she was overwhelmed. Our drinks were emty for a while. We placed a 2nd order of wings, almost 1 hour later, we asked how much longer and she asked what we were waiting for. She forgot to place the 2nd order. We stopped in on a whim one night to watch a Pens game and I have to say, I fell in love. Fantastic drink specials Friday and Saturday night. The bartenders are always nice and you rarely have to wait for anything. Food wise I have only ever had the fried pickles, wings and the rib wrap. It's bar food so don't expect anything healthy but that wrap is something special. read more

Great layout and excellent use of space - Drinks and employees very friendly with a social but professional setting - Food on the other hand is just NORMAL - There is nothing that stands out! I tried their wings and they were average at best with nothing unique - No signature flavor, No homemade dressing, Fat Heads down the street has unique flavor that shows someone took the time to separate the menu and taste buds from everyone else. I've lived on southside 2 years now and just walked into Smokin' Joe's for the first time. As soon as I walked in I began salivating at the beer selection. 6 massive bottle coolers behind the bar and 60 different draft selections. CRAFT BEER HEAVEN. The bartender Kara greeted me right away and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food menu and beer selection. This may just become my new local hangout. I officially love this place. There are pictures covering every inch of the walls, the bar is wooden, and there's a pool table. Seems like a perfect bar for me. read more

Best beer selection in Pittsburgh. Bartenders are quick to make sure your glass is full. The food has gotten better over the years. It's not a five star restaurant, but the wings are tasty. Especially on Thursdays when it's 40 wings and a pitcher of miller light for $20. That's a deal you just can't beat, I wish the beer was a better choice, but it goes well with the wings. Pool table is cheap, only $0.50 per game. They play the Pittsburgh sports games on the tv and turn it on the overhead speakers, so if you're looking for a good place to drink some beer and watch some sports, Joe's is your place. read more

I have been to Smokin' Joe's on a few occasions and have mixed feelings. The wings are some of my favorite around (probably why I keep coming back), they have a variety of flavors, quality wings with plenty of meat on them, and they are very reasonably priced. In addition to the wings their Taco Tuesday special is a wonderful value with quality taco's compared to what you get at other restaurants during this special. While the food is the bright spot of Smokin' Joe's the service and atmosphere certainly is not. In the four times I have been there, I have never seen more than one server on the floor and one person staffing the bar and it shows in the service the customer receives. It can be very difficult to get a drink refill once you have already received your food unless you are seated at the bar. In addition the servers are not very friendly, I attribute this to being understaffed, they always seem rushed and stressed. The bar at the front of the restaurant makes sitting at the bar a poor option. Overall, I would return to Smokin' Joe's for the wings or with friends on Taco Tuesday but it would not be my first choice. (Side note: if you spend $50+ dollars your receive a $5 gift certificate for your next visit...which is nice) read more

The food is excellent and they have great deals, but the service here, which was once notoriously bad, has gotten even worse on the service end. The servers don't know what beers are on top or what drinks are or not available. Hopefully you don't mind waiting 30 minutes for 6-12 wings with many empty tables. read more

Smokin' Joe's is such a hidden gem in the world of bar food! The mac and cheese is a huge portion of thick, rich cheesy goodness easily sharable between 2-3 people (for only $7!), the burgers are consistently cooked perfectly, and the wings are great and almost always discounted. Plus, there's a massive selection of beer! The food often takes a bit to come out, so I wouldn't go there if you were starving or in a hurry, but otherwise, Smokin' Joe's is a great choice for a satisfying meal. read more

If I could choose only one bar on the Southside to patron, it's Smoking Joe's. The staff is AMAZING!! From the weekend door guy cordially asking for my and my girlfriends ID, to the no nonsense but concerned greeting from the bar staff quickly ready to serve. As one settles in to enjoy the atmosphere of a plethora of walks of life, one understands he/she is somewhere special. The staff is absolutely infectious! They joke like siblings that have grown up with each other for years. As a bartender myself, it's most certainly a bartenders bar. These ladies and gentlemen know how to "read" their guests. Whether one wants left alone or is need of a little extra attention he/she isn't getting elsewhere this crew has it covered. Do yourself a favor and make sure if you are in the southside of Pittsburgh you take the time to enjoy life at "The Joe". read more

I've been here a couple of times; once for 30 cent wing night on a Monday, and once just to grab a few beers late on a Wednesday. The food is decent, we tried a few more items than just the wings. Portions are huge and reasonably priced, and you get options like salads as well as typical bar food. They have several TV's around the bar which usually show different games. What I like the best is their huge bottle selection! I'm originally from Europe, and I truly find myself missing some of the go-to beers I used to have back there. I have been looking for some of them at so many bars here in Pittsburgh, but only found them at Smokin' Joe's. Their beer prices are also really reasonable. However, it's obvious when the staff want to go home, or rather watch one of the games, or do anything but serve you. Their draft list is also quite outdated and they don't have everything that's on it. A bar I'll stop by more, but I honestly don't see myself becoming a regular. read more
