Mettwurst, Bier Cheese Spätzle, and imported Sauerkraut. My favorite meal here.

How wonderful to be close enough to walk to dinner. This is in a fabulous shopping and dining area of Southside near the Hot Metal Bridge. We opted to sit outside on their covered patio because it's so nice out even with the rain. They have ceiling fans and removable window coverings. If you look down you can see a lower level of picnic tables and a white tent, maybe for events. Our waiter, Tyler, took good care of us this evening. He helped us choose our beers and took our orders. We feasted on Metwurst (for me) with beer cheese spatzle and sauerkraut. So delicious. While hubby enjoyed his beer wurst with German potato salad and pickled beets. Very good. (Five photos attached)

Sunday lunch was great! Live music, delicious food and tasty beer. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had the Hot Brown and it was delicious and very filling. Service was great. They do a flight of 5 beers, so we tasted them all. Loved the Hefe, Oktoberfest, Dunkle and light beers. Already looking forward to our

This place is awesome! I came here on the first Wednesday of the month, and it was so fun to see the mini parade, live music, and opening of the monthly beer keg. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time for this event specifically, as we walked in and there were no more available indoor tables. The August beer was fabulous and so refreshing! The food was also lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed the spratzle with my french onion dip sandwich. Overall will be coming back!

Great vibes. Super fun seating area and the keg tapping was great. Happy hour deals are really good and love the beer selection. Hope to be back soon.

Not so busy for Friday afternoon. Rather relaxing to get out of Oakland. Love the Cobb salad. Desserts rock. Pro Tip: Come on the weekend and grab mimosas or Bloody Mary's.

Hofbrahuhaus is an easy choice when you want German food in Pittsburgh. They have tons of seating, the food is good and the atmosphere is unique. We enjoyed sitting outside on a nice evening. I tried the hot brown for the first time this trip and it was good, but nothing too special, basically just a stack of deli meat and cheese on a potato pancake. Service was excellent as always.

Food was good and tasted authentic. These US locations do a good job of capturing the feel of the original in Munich. Beer was good, had the sommerweizen. There was live music in the dining room while we were there for lunch on a Saturday.

We had a great lunch here last Saturday. Service was great excellent, food and beer were great, everything in the restaurant was clean. We enjoyed our lunch on the covered patio which was pleasant. I enjoyed the Sommer Weizen and jagerschnitzel, and left full! Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town.

First time ever trying Hofbrauhaus. The restaurant has a really sweet interior/vibe. The food was delicious & tasty. We decided to do the 3 course meal. You get a pretzel app, with an entree (I did the jagerschnitzel) & you get the cream puff dessert. It was fantastic. The service was also very good. Definitely will be going back! Give it a try!

Love me some Schnitzel, and the pierogis and potato pancakes are delectable. You can ask for a side of both apple sauce and sour cream. We walked here after the southside flea market. Atmosphere is fun, they seem to always have something going on. They play sports on the TVs and it's lively on game days.

The beer was delicious, the food was more delicious. and my waitress did a good job. I'm kind of a stickler for a fifth star and what pushed Hofbrauhaus over the top was the live entertainment. The guy took a minute to get ready but when he did he was on it! He went from classic rock to the accordion from one song to the next. I'm not used to seeing a lot of schnitzel on the menu but this place did it right. The Bavarian Jagerschitzel is what I had and it was delicious. If you like German food and ambiance you need to check this place out!

    Cream puff! Get this!

We like to stop here for a little treat. Their cream puffs are so delicious! They have a good selection of beers and sometimes a man plays an accordion and sings beer songs! Service is always really great.

Ask the Community - Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh

    Does the restaurant offer Parking?

There is a garage a couple blocks away. As far as I know there is not validation.

Is it first come first served on Saturdays?

Does anyone know how much the beer costs?

Ryan, depending on the bier, hlaf liters are $6-7 ea, liters are $13-14 ea. Thanks!

How long is the wait at 4pm on a Saturday?

Depends on a lot of factors (games in town, time of year, etc), but typically not long at all, if any wait at all. Worth any wait, though.

Do they have a children's menu?

Yes, it's $4.99 and has typical children's menu items...Pizza, hot dogs, junior schnitzel. etc... It's not located on their website, but you can ask for it once you arrive at the restaurant.

Anyone know the correct phone number? The one listed is a fax number ?

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.

I tend towards lighter beers, and they had several great options for me (don't worry, there are plenty of darker beers and higher-alcohol-percentage brews; I just didn't order them). There are three or four bars, along with a stage and places for food trucks. The bars are all linked, so you can open a tab at one and it'll be available at the others as well.
