Food and service was amazing, according to my dinner party. We had the baby back ribs and pulled chicken, both of which were consumed with gusto. Ribs were slightly dry but overall very tasty. Cornbread is on the sweet side but good, cole slaw was a great complement to the ribs, and fries were delicious. Dessert of chocolate chip lava cookie a la mode was spectacular and gobbled up instantly, which is no mean feat after the filling meal we just had! Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is military themed, but not overdone. We split a Jalapeno Burger which was stuffed with bleu cheese and chopped jalapenos - excellent! We chose French fries as our side, that were cooked well done as requested, although they were not house cut which is always a let down. They offer a limited but well chosen draught beer list. The restaurant is a little tricky to find as it's kind of camouflaged and the sign is practically unreadable even from close up. There are three distinct dining rooms and a bar which seats about 10. There is a large nicely decorated outdoor seating area. We don't really eat BBQ, which is what this place does best, and I trust that it is as good as their burgers. read more

I got the BBQ sampler which came with pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, hot & sweet sausage, and 2 smoked ribs, and also came with flat bread. It was a nice way of getting to taste a little bit of everything. My husband got a beer flight and the pulled pork sandwich and a side of mac and cheese. My husband and I are spending the weekend in Rhinebeck and the inn we are staying at recommended Smokey Rock BBQ. We were walk-ins and they said it would be a 10 minute wait. They let us sit at the bar and we each ordered a drink. I ordered the new fall drink, a pumpkin martini and my husband ordered his skinny margarita. My pumpkin martini was incredible. Well balanced flavors that were not too sweet. We were seated inside and our waitress brought us water. They have some great food options that are all made in house. Even their sauces are made on property. My husband ordered their chicken wings and a side of fries. I ordered their BBQ burger, no bun with a side of coleslaw. They also offered us each a complementary order of split pea soup that my husband said was some of the best he has ever had. (I'm not a fan) my burger and coleslaw were very good. Smoked well and not over powered. The wings were huge. My husband ordered a dozen and couldn't eat them all. Visited again right after Christmas and it did not disappoint. I brought a friend and they were absolutely blown away by how wonderful it was. It was 3 giant pieces of corn bread and a big cup of beans plus a rack that was so big it barely fit on the table. They only serve Pepsi products, so if you are a Coke drinker you'll need an alternate. The staff was attentive and friendly. The only reason my review is in the middle is I didn't really care for the sauce on the meat. I found it a bit too much of a vinegar and sugar profile for my taste. I don't mean that it was bad, just not something I'd be excited to have again. Paired with the high prices, it was a middle of the road meal for me. Others may like the sauce, so I encourage you to give it your own try. They also have a huge dessert menu, but I was quite stuffed from the ribs to try some. read more

Moist and flavorful pieces of brisket, sausage, pulled pork and chicken as well as their delicious dry rubbed ribs, all accompanied with their delicious spicy bbq sauce. Ana our server as well as the creator of their incredible cakes, pies and desserts was a joy to converse with as well as her Mom. Unfortunately we didn't have room for the desserts but Mom left us with a sample of their baklava and raspberry chocolate cake which were absolutely delicious as well. Our experience started with an amazing welcome from our waitress who directed us to a beautiful outdoor garden to dine. The menu had so many choices it was hard to decide what to get. But I settled on the Pastrami sandwich. It was as good as my favorite NY Deli pastrami. My friend got a grass fed locally sourced burger that was cooked to perfection. We washed it down with the local Pumpkin beer and sat back for a moment enjoying our knitting in the garden and listen to the fountain splash and contemplated dessert after we found out there was an in-house bakery. After walking down the Main Street through Rhineback and being underwhelmed by the menu options at neighboring restaurants, my party of three stumbled upon this barbeque joint. We were starving when we walked in, however there was a big sign that said that we needed a reservation (of which we did not have). We asked if they would be able to squeeze us in and luckily they were able to seat us before the dinner rush had arrived. The restaurant was extremely clean and the tables were separated giving my table a very private feel. We ordered a fried pickle appetizer for the table. When it came out they were shaped liked French fries which was perfect for dipping! They were so flavorful and the portion size was perfect for the three of us. For my meal I ordered the pulled chicken platter with a side of French fries and beans. I was pleasantly surprised when our waitress asked "What complimentary soup would you like with your meal?" The food arrived fast and everything I ate was incredible. Another pleasant surprise was that my meal came with pita bread that was grilled to perfection. Everything was seasoned just right and the portions were massive. I couldn't finish it all in one seating and took some of it to go. It was just as good the second day I had it! Louis pork ribs. Crispy outside, juicy soft inside the meat fall off the bones without losing texture of thr meat. Great seasoning salty/sour/sweet flavor. Will definitely come back for more just for them!!! Pork belly was kinda dry (not enough fat) two out of the three pieces are good. It comes with thin crust soft pita bread. My wife & I are staying at a Bed & Breakfast and smell BBQ?! Smoky Rock BarbeQue now has dinner guests. This place is huge! We walked from front to back which seemed like forever. A cheerful young woman greeted us and showed us to our table. We pretty much have the place to ourselves. We ordered cocktails and our favorite, a dinosaur rib that could easily feed the both of us. The entree comes with sides, baked beans and cole slaw are must haves. The sizzling Smokey rib comes to our table. Deelish! We start working on this rib, nom nom nom. One of my friends told me about Smokey about a year back and how great it is, which he's right. It was a first for me. Coming here felt like I should of been here in the past. Coming in, we had the option of sitting inside or outside. Since it was nice, we chose to sit outside. It was great an all until flies started to fly around so we moved inside instead. That was a bit of a turnoff for us leaving me with a 4 star. Now on to the appetizers. The chicken wings for the starters was great. It definitely had a wonderful taste compared to others I've had in the past. Have it with the bbq sauce and you're in for a treat. I got the Cowboy Burger medium as the main meal with fries tasting good. The brisket in it definitely had more flavor than the patty, leaving the juiciness out of it.
