4.5 Like the owner and chef, Joe, told me: "Nothing but vibes in here." He wasn't lying. We were looking for breakfast on our way from Hudson to Woodbury Commons last Sunday, and Good Eat'n came up as a highly rated option. Good Eat'n isn't trying to impress you with flashy decor, and I think that's part of its charm. The space is clean, comfortable, and has clearly made some updates from the previous establishment. What makes the place memorable though is the hospitality. Joe was behind the counter when we arrived, greeting us like old friends, introducing us to a couple of regulars and his server, and inviting us to sit wherever we'd like. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the menu, but it was a straightforward breakfast menu. We ordered an egg sandwich with sausage and a stack of pancakes with sausage. In my opinion, the portions were very generous, especially the size of the sausage and the pancakes (check out the picture). When Joe noticed I was slowing down toward the end of my meal, he actually started cheering me on to finish--and even gave me a hug afterwards when I just couldn't do it. My only critique was how salty the sausages were. Other than that, good food, good people, and good vibes.

Food is absolutely delicious. Black-owned, father-daughter owned, legacy business! Staff is so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return!

Any time we're out running errands on Broadway in Kingston, NY or just happen to be driving by, we always catch a glimpse of Good Eat'N and say, "One of these days, we're stopping in." Well, the day I went in after work to pick up dinner was finally the day and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. As a pescatarian, the very first thing I scan for in any soul-food menu is the fish situation. Their fried whiting caught my attention. Meanwhile, my husband is loyal to his meat classics: fried chicken or ribs. No surprise he went straight for the fried chicken. The real cherry on top was chatting with the owner's daughter, Mercedes. We ended up cracking up over our names. I mean seriously, what are the chances? It felt like one of those small-world moments that instantly makes a place feel even more welcoming. Good Eat'N truly lives up to its name. The service is amazing, the history behind the place is heartfelt, and their motto, "Have a Blessed Day", is something they genuinely deliver. You can feel the love, the pride and the smiles in every corner and their food. And before I forget... the cornbread. Not just their classic cornbread, which is already chef's kiss, but their sweet potato cornbread. Yup, Sweet. Potato. Cornbread. A little different- but tasty.Good Eat'N is a true gem up in these sticks and I'm so glad I finally stopped by.

First time in Kingston and found this great spot! We went for breakfast but they also serve lunch and dinner. Will definitely come back. Egg sandwich and grits were fresh and delicious! More than that the owner and staff were friendly, attentive and just good people. Love the friendly, family vibe. Definitely check this place out.

The ambiance at Good Eat'n was charming, cozy and comforting. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner Joe as well as his staff. The initial greet in any establishment will set the tone of whats too come, experience wise. I was so happy I looked up southern food and came across this establishment. The ambiance is something I'd like to compare to dinner at grandmas house on a Sunday afternoon. This is the perfect environment to dine in on any given day, especially if you're looking for a fantastic southern cooked meal. Everything on the menu looked incredible so I had to go with a couple different dishes to get a feel of the menu. I had the catfish which was lightly breaded, had the perfect crunch and nice flavor. The ribs were so tender and fall off the bone I mean it was incredible, paired with the delicious collard greens. Next the fried chicken.... Wow the crunch, the flavor and the juiciness of the chicken had me in awe. That dish was also paired with a tasty and cheesy Mac n cheese as well as yams. The cornbread is and will always be a favorite of mine during dinner. Can we talk about the turkey? I mean wow so juicy and flavorful , I almost thought I was having thanksgiving, I mean juicy and surpassed my expectations. Now everyone's part of any meal... desert, am I right? This cake was the perfect late night to go snack with a warm cup of milk. I can't wait to come back and indulge in five more dishes. Thank you Good Eat'n and staff for such an amazing experience.

The food is made with love and was extremely flavorful and delicious - made with love. Mercedes and Chef Joe could not have warmer, really top tier service. They redid the place that's been around for years, really fresh and warm atmosphere. Will be coming here again.

minus the cornbread that i tore up immediately!

A little quaint gem (a bit eclectic) that serves comfort foods in a friendly atmosphere…read more Their menu consists of various chicken sandwiches (fried, grilled or cauliflower), burgers, all day breakfast, soups and salads. We enjoyed the Figgy chicken sandwich (fig jam, plentiful greens, cheese and chicken, bun could have been better quality) with salad (pretty fresh), and the Caesar chicken sandwich with fries. The server (owner?) was very friendly and explained the menu, saying specifically that the chicken sandwiches are made to order. There were only two other occupied tables on a Saturday afternoon and the food took a little while to come out (not very bad but not super fast). It also seems like a place that should be crowded but wasn't. Coffee was self service. They also had a pumpkin pie in a plastic container (didn't look homemade) in the front. There's a little children's play area in the back. And the unisex bathroom was very large. It's located on a street with lots of shops and other eateries (pizza etc).

Our waitress was very nice, really chill, checked in once but if we had flagged her over I'm sure she would have been attentive more but we just didn't need anything. We ordered two different versions of their chicken sandwiches and they both were amazing! I ordered the club and substituted out for the Big Mac sauce, it was ridiculously delicious! The owner/chef I believe came over after our food was served which was really nice to check in and offered some future suggestions that we'll be sure to take her up on. The food was cooked to order, super fresh and a lot of details that made it a perfect bite! Cute place with a variety of seating options, the old brick work pops through in some places which adds a really nice historic charm to the place. We'll definitely be back to give a few more menu items a try!

RUN, don't walk to Uptown Bar and Grill for brunch!…read more I don't throw around "best ever" very often... but those mozzarella sticks? They may honestly be the best I've ever had. The breading was perfectly crispy and the mozzarella was unbelievably creamy! Then came the entrées... Bacon & Brie Omelette. The eggs were unbelievably fluffy, loaded with flavor, and the combination of crispy bacon and creamy brie was phenomenal. Add the cheesy hash browns, and I was already wondering why I hadn't come here sooner. Crab Cake BLT... Wow. Packed with crab, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was outstanding. The fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned just right. And can we talk about the portions? You definitely won't leave hungry! To top it all off, our waitress was incredibly sweet, friendly, and attentive. Great service always makes a good meal even better, and she absolutely did. If you're looking for a brunch spot, Uptown Bar & Grill absolutely knocked it out of the park. Great food, great service, huge portions, and flavors that keep you talking about the meal long after you leave. Easily a 10/10 from me. Now excuse me while I dream about those mozzarella sticks...

Must highlight our server Gabe, he was on his game, our waters were always filled, he checked in often, and he sold us on dessert(deconstructed raspberry cheesecake). Good kid, definitely keep him. I will return for a good hot dinner soon. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The person working the grill yelled at me and my son on three separate occasions. At first, I thought it might have been a misunderstanding or just trying to be heard over the noise, but it continued. I've been to many places with my child and have never experienced anything like this. Because of that, we won't be coming back.

We wanted to order to go for friends and had to order it at the same time since they were closing, but they were kind enough to double bag to keep it hot. Also since they were closing we got our food wrapped to go, no options for trays, which was challenging for the kids but we made it work. Also, a mouse ran by but i think it came in from the outside and ran right back outside- they have to eat too i guess. The food comes out super quickly. Love the refillable fountain drinks with real cane sugar!

They have updated the bar and the dining room. The wood is lighter. The bar doesn't smell like old beer any more. We get there at 11:30. By noon, there's already a long wait. Service is friendly. The chicken wings are a top three rendition. We always order ours crispy. They stopped serving celery on the side a while ago. As a purist, I bring a ziplock bag of celery sticks. I say raise the price of an order of wings by 50 cents and serve celery again! The waffle fries are great. They have a surprisingly diverse menu with a big selection of beers. There are desserts, but I have never been disciplined enough to save room. It's cash only. This is the platonic ideal of a burger and wing joint. Set the celery sticks free!

Service very good, prices comparable to other wing places. I asked my waiter how many pounds they sold on Super Bowl Sunday. He mentioned "between 18 and 19 thousand pounds!!!" Wow, double wow. This whole time, I really thought this place was inside a cozy hotel about 2 blocks over. Guess you learn something new every day. We pulled up on a Thurs. around 4 with no res. and got seated real quick. Restaurant K. is airy, chic and gives a relaxed vibe. The menu is on the smaller side, but honestly, there's something for every eating style. We kept things light instead of diving into something heavy. Our spring greens salad was really good: hefty mound of mixed greens, lima beans, string beans and a hint of dill to make everything pop. Hubs had the double-stacked burger with white cheddar on a potato bun and loved it. I had high hopes for the hush puppies because they sounded amazing on paper- but they were doughy than corny and threw me off. Then came dessert. Again- sounded great on paper. It kinda feels like desserts get a "reinvented" treatment here(?). For instance, the strawberry shortcake was deconstructed: a few chunks of white cake, some diced strawberries and whipped cream. Totally unexpected. I ordered the 'Fun-Fetti Dunkaroos' with madeleines because they caught my eye, but they're smaller than standard. The food isn't bad at all. We were just caught off guard by how some of our selections were prepped. What really saved the evening were the cocktails. They were beautifully made and had a lot of strength. No watered-down nonsense here! Plus, our server Karina(?) was super sweet. I asked if I could try the passion fruit purée to see if it was the real deal for one of the cocktails I ordered and she brought me a little sample. Passed the test!
