A quaint, cozy spot I stopped in while traveling to Albany. They were busy but I still didn't have to wait for a table. I was handed a menu immediately and was asked what I wanted to drink. I pretty much knew I was going to have a burger & fries so I ordered that along with a hot chocolate. I didn't have to wait long for my food. The burger was cooked the way I asked and I had a generous order of fries. Truth is they were ok, nothing special, but ok. They were hot and filling and on this day, that was enough. Let's get honest, this place could use a visit from the BOH. I wouldn't recommend the fries. They are mushy and look half bitten. It's likely the toaster is on the brink or hasn't been cleaned. It definitely doesn't live up to the Pete's Famous that used to be open in Hyde Park. read more

Just had the perfect hangover diner breakfast at this place. Service offers that home cooked feel perfectly and 2 eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon, juice and coffee for $10 is quite simply unbeatable (especially coming from New York City). Now I've been through Rhinebeck a couple of times now and have looked at a couple of shops, but somehow missed this little cafe! If it wasn't for my wife's aunts for letting us know about this place, we probably would have never stopped in and had a meal here. The atmosphere is very quiet, and relaxed. Menu choices are typical for most cafe/dinner items. But I have to say that this place is far from your typical diner/cafe! Food was extremely fresh and flavorful! I've had plenty of monte cristos from many different locations, and most are always tasting the same with the generic style. They certainly raised the bar with this sandwich. Not only was it made with fresh ham and turkey. It was also served open face and served on delicious thick cut French toast The overall ambiance of the cafe was very relaxed, and nonchalant.
