    Eco-friendly take out container
    Mayra L.

I've many food allergies but everything here is completely gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and top 8 allergy friendly. I've never been to any place where everything is safe for me. Delicious & healthy options! Plus, takeout containers and straws are made from eco-friendly materials. Outdoor seating is opened during good weather. Best breakfast we have ever had! Service is good. The restroom is cleaned & provides eco-friendly hand soap. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this eatery!

Just a perfect GF top 8 allergen friendly bakery. The safety was felt the minute I walked in the door and was warmly greeted by Emy herself. Everything in the case was coming home with me! But I settled on a variety 5 treats. She placed a decadent truffle in my box just because. The experience was A+ from the quaint decor and obvious love and respect for food to the warm and friendly owner. Thank you for making this a dream for many. I will pass on this secret gem!

I stopped in for some thanksgiving sweets to take with me! The mini banana bread was out of this world! I really didn't enjoy the apple cinnamon cake pop though, which was super gummy and devoid of flavor. The apple mini cake we had also kind of missed the mark texture and flavor wise. I was really shocked at the prices as well, a mini bread was ~$7 each. I recognize they likely use quality ingredients but I don't think I'd personally splurge here again. Service was super friendly!!

I've been searching for a vegan bakery in the area. I found Emy Delights & Bites in Hyde Park. 4322 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park NY 12538. Phone # 845-233-4393. If you have any food allergies or have friends/family that have food allergies, I would highly recommend Emy's. I couldn't wait to try this, my birthday treat: Cinnamon Stuffed Cookie (Think of a snickerdoodle whoopie pie)

I had the Mediterranean Avocado Toast, and it was amazing. The bread was delicious, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. My wife had the Tex Max Hummus toast and hers was just as good as mine, if not better. Seating area outside was also nice. 10/10 would recommend.

    Mediterranean avacado toast

My wife and I saw Emy's and thought we'd give it a try. We were looking for a sandwich, but they didn't have any to go options when we stopped in. We ordered Avocado Toast instead, my wife the Mediterranean, and myself the Southwest. First off, they are not stingy with the avacado! We've been to places where you receive a small smear for the same price. Also, the toast was a healthy piece of bread; off to an excellent start. We discovered that the bread was vegan and gluten free, which I was hesitant about as we all know there are not many good ones out there. BUT, their bread was excellent. Great flavor. The Mediterranean Toast had an olive tapenade under the avacado with tomatoes on top. The olives gave a needed saltiness to the dish. This was our favorite dish of the two. The menu stated the southwestern toast was avacado, black beans, and corn salsa. But they missed the mark, the dish was bland and lacked flavor as I had received beans and corn straight from the can on top. Suggested modification...The black beans straight from the can were bland. The addition of a corn salsa, or corn pico would have been great. My final suggestion, is an opportunity to change up the avacado, perhaps a little salt and Chipotle powder or other southwestern flavors. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal and would definitely go back to try the other items. They also have hummus toast, fruit smoothies, chocolates, and some to-go items.

Some deliciousness from Emy's this week

As a vegetarian I'm always on the hunt for the best of the best in vegetarian cuisine. I'm officially in love with the Plant Palate and their F I R E empanadas. Handmade, baked to order, these empanadas are a feel good meal. Make sure to try their rice and beans side. They have a little kick too! So I ordered the ground beef copycat signature empanadas which can easily fool ya. I honestly had to do a double take because just from the look it felt like this was real ground beef. The sriracha mayo gave it the perfect kick too! To put this empanada to the test, we told our meat eating sister that this was a ground beef empanada and ours was the vegetarian one. She ate it convinced that it was meat. A few hours later we finally told her she had the same one we did. She couldn't believe it and it really had her fooled. So 100% compliments to the chef! They also sell sweet (nutella) empanadas (I'll def be trying this one next time). Bottom line: vegan, vegetarian or meat eater, you NEED to try the plant palate. It will leave your palate having a party with the extra spicy kick and the bomb flavors. Thanks to the Plant Palate for making amazing food like this. Can't wait to try some more!

I found Karma Road on Yelp--a vegan cafe? Yes, please. It's a small cafe with a few tables inside as well as a few outside. When I arrived, the outdoor seating was full but there was a few tables available inside that were perfect for my needs (dining and working). It's an order at the counter set up. I knew I wanted a sandwich and was leaning toward an avocado sandwich they had on menu. The worker was excessively kind and welcoming. Upon hearing it was my first time there, they asked if I might like a recommendation. I mentioned I was thinking of getting a sandwich. They shared that they're favorite sandwich was the baked tofu. I asked if I could get it with avocado added, they enthusiastically recommended I do so! I did, and my goodness--that sandwich was outta this world. It was absolutely divine. It came with some cucumbers that were seasoned and seemed to have maybe a squeeze of citrus as well? I truly don't know what they had on them but what a simple yet absolutely astoundingly fresh and fabulous side. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or simply like good food--seriously, give this gem a shot. It is well worth the stop. Get to it!

But the Red Dot seems to nail every single dish. We started with the multigrain vegan waffle with fresh fruit and loved it! So clean and flavorful, with perfectly ripe fruit. I do think the fruit should have been included, because it would have been a bit plain without it. Next, we had the ancient grains kitchari which was incredible. We loved all the fresh vegetables perfectly cooked, adding a variety of textures and flavors. It is offered as mild, medium, or hot; we got hot, which was great but not overly spicy, and we might request extra spicy next time. Lastly, we got the breakfast paratha wrap filled with their incredible tofu scramble. We were so impressed by how non-greasy it was (both the paratha and the scramble). We are always looking for food that isn't overly salty or oily, which is hard to find, but the Red Dot managed to do everything perfectly. Also major props to their masala chai, made super fresh with your choice of milk. The soy milk was creamy and pleasantly sweet and it didn't even require adding sugar. So rare to find vegan masala chai. The food takes fairly long to come out, but we felt it was worth it because of how delicious everything was; we also appreciated the generous portions. I'm so glad I found this spot--it was exactly what I needed to reset. Food: 4/5 I ordered an ahi tuna poke bowl and a smoothie, and overall, it hit the mark. The tuna wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still solid--fresh enough and well-balanced with the toppings. The smoothie, though, was delicious. I'd honestly come back just for that alone--it was cooling, clean, and packed with flavor. Atmosphere: 5/5 The interior design here is beautiful--very calm, airy, and just a peaceful place to sit for a bit. It felt like the kind of space where you could relax, journal, or just quietly enjoy a meal without the bustle of a typical café. Really appreciated that. Service & Price: This is more of a counter-service place--order at the front and grab a seat. No complaints there; everything came out pretty quickly and the staff was kind. As far as price goes: yes, it's on the higher end. A bowl + smoothie can easily run you over $30 which feels like a lot when compared to, say, a hearty Italian sandwich around the corner. But I get it--healthy food often just costs more. For me, it was worth it this time around. Overall: If you're in the area and looking to take a break from heavier meals, this is a lovely spot. It's not a cheap bite, but it's fresh, clean, and satisfying. I'll definitely be back for a smoothie if I'm nearby.

Their menu is extensive and impressive; they have some all-star dishes on their permanent menu as well as a rotating daily menu with a legendary lineup of seasonal items. I really appreciate that they have dishes that are hard to come by such as lentil loaf and lasagna, and these never disappoint. The lentil loaf is unique; it is a little brick of lentils (not your traditional sliceable mush of breadcrumbs and minced veggies). It's very well seasoned and the tomato sauce on top is not overly sweet. The mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and (very) garlicky greens make it a great meal. The lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. It's pasta-free and just made from layers of sliced zucchini and other veggies sandwiched with their delicious crumbly housemade cashew cheese. The herby tomato sauce is super flavorful. The side salad and garlic bread that accompany it are great also; an ultra comforting meal. We enjoyed the macro meal, although honestly not as much as the other dishes. The pan-seared tofu was delicious, but the arame seaweed salad was super seaweedy and salty - a bit much for me. I'm also not sure why they didn't serve it in a bowl, which would have made the rice etc. easier to eat. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps avocado, or a hunk of sweet potato. A few items at the Garden Cafe are a little perplexing, compared to how perfect most of their food is. The tempeh is just ok. It's heavily marinated in a sweet and salty sauce and kind of strange. Also disappointing that it's just a big brand tempeh rather than one of the local tempeh brands available in the area. The housemade focaccia is also bizarre. The texture made me think it was gluten-free (but it's not). Is it whole wheat?? If that's the case, awesome, but they should mention that on the menu, so you aren't taken aback when you don't get pillowy airy bread and instead get something flat and gray that could be mistaken for a biscotti. We LOVE the Garden Cafe and wish more places like this existed serving organic classic meals. We wish they would open a location in New York City, but until then, we will be making the drive!
