Just moved to the area from California! I found Smooth to be a little difficult to find but once your in, it blew me away! The space is really clean the staff is very friendly and this will be my go to spot for facials and my waxing needs. I did not get the Brazilian done in this visit as that is what clients come in for for the majority of the time. My aesthetician was Michelle! She was really friendly and was experience my full face wax was smooth and fast. I was there for twenty minutes and asked for some cleaning for my brows. She was really sweet and it was Painless!! Best waxing experience I've had a long time. Nickie was wonderful! She is fast and put all waxing jitters at ease. Since I walked in the place had me impressed with its decoration and wonderful spa smell. The moment I knew I was at the right place was when I saw that Nickie does not double dip the waxing sticks; instead she used a new one everytime. Today I received the most pleasing, relaxing, and effective facial I have ever had. Most Smooth Yelp reviews I read raved about waxing, so I wondered if facials may not be their primary service. Plus, without a personal referral and being able to book a same day appointment left my expectations moderately hopeful. Everything about Smooth was lovely, from check-in to check-out. The treatment room was neither sparse or crammed - a large soft, comfortable room where my esthetician so gently and aptly applied whatever quality products she explained and, thank you, never tried to sell. The girl in the front was wonderfully friendly & set a good relaxing vibe which is a good thing because the last thing you want to feel is uneasy right before hair is ripped from your body. Love smooth waxing. I have been going here since I moved to Norfolk 4 years ago. With my unpredictable job schedule I never really know when I'm able to make appointments nor am I able to have the same esthetician every time but I am always pleased with the service regardless of whom I see. I normally get a Brazilian and just recently got a deep bikini and am actually going for my first facial here today. I will let you know how it goes after! This is an excellent waxing salon. It's inside the Monticello Arcade (which I didn't realize so I walked by the entrance three times), about half way down the hall. Anyway, Nickie is excellent. I had a Brazilian done, and it was nowhere near a painful as when I had it done at another location. Definitely worth the money (prices seem to be on par for the area). I've only had two appointments here, but they have been easy and painless. The staff is so kind and their business is so clean!

First off, let me start by saying that I usually go to a waxer in Old Town that uses the sugar-based wax. The only reason it is not 5 stars is because I was still a little prickley (which usually happens to me if I go to a normal waxing salon = they use the cloth strips and warm wax). Other than that, whenever I am in the area I will definitely be back! Nickie was amazing. Super friendly, and genuine. The room was nice, and she didn't double dip!! She did use a different kind of wax which I really preferred, it hardened on the skin and she removed it after it cooled - she uses smaller pieces so its not nearly as painful, but does take a little longer. All in all, a super job, and you even get a discount if you're a first time customer. OH! Almost forgot, you can schedule online!!!!!! A+ I work 10 hour days and don't normally get a chance to make brazilian waxing appointments -- office of 60 people, I prefer not to discuss my waxing.. read more

Not only did she call multiple times and left a message, they admitted to receiving her message and did not bother to call back or answer the phone. They did however gladly charge a late fee. I understand that policies are in place for a reason, but these people don't care about their customers. They just want money. Try body chateau in va beach or panache in Norfolk instead, they actually care about their customers and are clean and affordable. Would give this place a zero if possible. Love love looovvee smooth! I've been to the spa about 6 times now. Mary is hands down my favorite. She pays a lot of attention to the areas I get waxed, which I love. She even goes as far as to remove the tiniest little hairs with tweezers. Mary works fast, but very diligently. When driving to Smooth, just follow Nickie's directions online- they're fool proof. And when coming from Va Bch, get off at Waterside if City Hall is backed up. Nickie's directions take you to the 1st floor of the parking garage next to Dillard's. When you walk out of the pkng garage, go to the RT & you'll see a big bldng diagonally across the street with a "Monticello Arcade" sign. Smooth is located inside that bldng. I loved the "feel" of Smooth as soon as I walked in the door. Such a great spot! Nickie makes you feel at ease from the second you meet her. I'll be discreet about what I was having waxed... but I will say that it wasn't nearly as painful as I was expecting. Smooth is awesome! They recently created a membership for their clients that gives 10% off facials, 20% off retail products, and $49 Brazilian waxes. Membership currently costs $40. The location is ideal for people in the downtown area. A little hike for me, but still okay. I had never had a Brazilian until I went here. I had always done waxing myself. They are very professional, and the pain is far less when someone else does the waxing! It's a little awkward being in such a vulnerable position, but not much different than going to the OBGYN. I saw Michelle, who no longer works there. She was warm and paid attention to detail. Recently I saw Starla, who was also great. Nickie is the best I have ever encountered. I have received Brazilian waxes from her for years. She makes you feel comfortable, and upon first meeting will explain the procedure to you, makes sure that you get what you want, and will answer any questions that you will have about it. The waxes that she uses are top notch, and her use of hard wax in more sensitive areas leaves for a better experience. I never appreciated these things as I do now as I just received a wax from a spa in Virginia Beach (I didn't have time this week to take the two hours it would take to go to Nickie) and I absolutely regret it. This woman's technique was choppy, not precise like Nickie's. I have patches of hair left in more discrete areas, something that I have never encountered before. I also left this place covered in powder; a new one as well. The money and experience is well worth it. The level of attention-to-detail and professionalism are unmatched. I visited Smooth in early April while in town for a wedding. I needed my Brazilian and arm wax touchups, and figured I may as well do it while near a wax salon with high reviews. I needed to split up my visits for both services, but the receptionist was great at getting me appointment times that fit in with my schedule. Smooth is definitely the best waxing salon I've been to so far. The waxer for my Brazilian (I'm sorry I forgot her name :( ) did an excellent job, and used a combination of strip wax and a very gentle hard wax that wasn't too hot or really painful. Guys, you need to go see Dana and get the male Brazilian wax. I had been manscaping down there with a razor for years, and I didn't even know male waxing was a thing. A female friend convinced me to try it one time, and I'm so glad I did. Dana was the ultimate professional in explaining what would be done and how it would feel. Did it hurt? Somewhat, but not near as bad as I expected. It took almost 2 weeks before the hair grew back, and it was much thinner than before.
