I pray to God that there were no wicked intentions behind it. I'll just try out the Midtown location an additional 5-8 minutes away from work moving forward... 3 stars due to the customer service. So I was craving an Acai bowl but I didn't feel like driving to my favorite shop and I remembered Smoothie King sells Acai bowls! Bet, let me order on the app and take a break from work and go pick it up. App says order will be ready in 12 minutes. Long story short I didn't get my bowl until 15 minutes after promised time and the lady working initially gave my bowl to another customer. They were also getting walk in orders done before starting to make online orders which means I could have walked in and placed my order and got my order faster. Doesn't make sense. Now to review my Acai bowl! Surprisingly it was really good and filling. Good tasting acai, tasty granola and the fruit was fresh! We get it, you're health-conscious. You're important, you've got places to be. I think Smoothie King gets the short end of our appreciation for being ahead of some trends as they trickled from the coasts into Middle America. Their product is tasty, convenient, and you know what? It's usually better than any smoothie I can make at home myself, no matter how many blogs I read or bullet blenders I purchase. I think it has something to do with their massive commercial blenders. The ol' Proctor-Silex just doesn't pulverize the ice and give that professional texture like SK can provide. I showed up on a Saturday morning with a child in tow. The little one had just finished soccer and was grumping for a snack. I nabbed him a small Berry Interesting to take the edge off. He was very happy with the beverage, and didn't talk to me for like a half hour while finishing it. For myself, I ordered a Peanut Power Plus + strawberry, and enjoyed my daily protein through a cheerful red straw. Not the biggest chocolate fan, here. Anyway, SK is always intimidating with their menu. There's so much on offer, it's tough to make a decision. Their recipes are usually tasty though, and this time the staff seemed happy to explain things to us. It's easy to get a little choice paralysis. I know that I was showing up a the beginning of the business day and everything, but the store was very clean. I haven't been to the Caroline Street location in a little over a month because my last experience wasn't good. I decided to give them another chance today because I realize every business has a bad day. My experience today was even worse. I went on the app and placed my order for my regular açai bowl. I arrived at the location 15 minutes later to pick it up. When I walk in the young lady tells me she's going to the back to get my order then she brings me my order and put it in my hand. I'm so excited when I get in the car I can't even wait to get home to eat it, my bowl was water with fruit on top. No taste no flavor. I'm so confused at this point, but it doesn't matter I won't be returning. this was my favorite Smoothie King for months. It was convenient to stop here on my way to work. It was extremely busy that day and I got there shortly after they opened so online orders were primary. The smoothie is always delicious no matter what I get but. Of course it's a smaller store so there's no seating area just standing room. The only thing the bothered me is the cashier was listening to music in his ear when he was taking my order so I had to repeat myself several times. The employee and customer got into a shouting match. I was stunned! Never have I seen this behavior displayed openly from young women. Lol. Came in here today and no one came out to greet or take my order. Stood there for 15 minutes, even called the store and heard the phone rang and no one answered. Even opened the door again to see if anyone would come out. Then a customer who happened to be black came in and all of a sudden the workers from the back came out. I asked her if she saw me standing there for 10 minutes in which she replied and said "no I only heard the door when she walked in" (pointing to the customer who walked in after me).... Smoothie King was a King for sure lol, I've never seen smoothies that come in a giant cup that was over 20 oz. I was like d**n. I ended up getting the smallest they had since I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. Their smoothies ranged from meal replacements to just regular blended smoothies. This store had 2 people in line at 8:56 a guy walked in about 3 minutes before I did and they took his order I watched him go in from the light. His order was taken as soon as I walked in the girl tells me they are closed. Honey you couldn't be if the darn open light is still on and you have customers your clearly making smoothie for. I ALWAYS order a kids smoothie whenever I go to smoothie king however at this particular location I was unable to do so because I did not have a child with me... WAIT...WHAT??? I normally visit this location atleast 5x a week but today may very well be my last. I ordered my usual order of van hulk 32oz with 1/2 scoop turbinado, frozen yogurt, and almond milk. As I watched my drink being prepared I realized the very rude woman making my drink added 2 scoops of sugar vs the 1/2 I had requested when placing my order. I immediately mentioned that I only requested an 1/2 scoop of sugar. She then looked up with a nasty look on her face and stated " I can read!" After this unprofessional demeanor she continued to make my drink but instead of preparing a new drink she just got an empty pitcher and poured what was in the blender with the extra sugar into the empty blender. After that she questioned another employee in regards to the hulk powder that goes into the drink at which time I asked her "is that hulk blend", bcuz on several occasions I've had whey protein powder in place of weight gained by mistake. She responded rudely again stating " I know what this paper says" referring to the receipt affixed to the blender. At this point I ask the woman with the glasses for her name and and she stated " you'll be okay" I asked a 2nd time and she responded with the same thing ",you'll be okay". This type of unprofessional, rude customer service to not just a regular customer but to any customer should never happen. I asked the person taking orders to sub ginger for banana in the mango kale smoothie and she said she could leave out the bananas but there would be a charge for adding ginger. I've had this same smoothie at least 40 times at Smoothie Kings all over Georgia and other US locations and have never heard that this was not possible except with an up charge. I ordered a small but they gave me an enormous medium which cost over $7. My child asked if he could have some and I asked for an extra cup. Staff refused to give me an extra cup for my child to use. Apparently you have have to pay for an empty extra cup. Spoke to the manager also and he flatly refused to give me an extra cup. It is a small thing but completely ridiculous that they would charge for this and are willing to lose a customer over a 5 cent cup when they spend thousands of dollars on advertising and free smoothie giveaways. read more
