The smoothies are consistently delicious at this location near downtown! Even when picked up or delivered, the smoothies are always nice and cold. The ambience has always had positive energy, and the employees I have encountered have taken great care in ensuring the best quality while being efficient. They even put the smoothie in the fridge/freezer if the pickup order has been sitting out too long, which has saved me so many times when caught in traffic. Visited this location on a UPSIZE FRIDAY, as I like to call it. To be fair, I ordered in the app, so this review is mostly about the quality of the food, the physical location & the customer service. The app: ordering in the app was very easy. Although there are a lot of places to go in the app, it pretty much is straightforward; smoothie bowls, smoothies, nutritional snacks, discount & check out. The value: whether in the app or in the store itself, prices have increased. I get it, supplies are more expensive, less people are going to work, and it's just inflation so you pony up the extra for what you want and you keep it moving. That's exactly what I did this time around. I paid $11.99 for the bowls and because today was "Upsize Friday", as I call it, I got a 32 ounce for the price of a 20 ounce. Three items and my bill was $33 and some change. I feel like we could've sat down and had breakfast for that price. However, I wanted to try to the bowls and I'm glad that I did. The bowls were quite tasty. I believe the one I had was made with açai fruit as the main ingredient and then I tasted some oats and lots of mangoes and some other things like blueberries, and some other deliciousness Definitely checking it off my bucket list, I don't know how many more times I will repeat the purchase but I did enjoy it. The customer service: as I walked in, I do not recall anyone welcoming me to Smoothie King however, I don't know if that is there protocol or policy, so I was unbothered by that. However, entering into the store itself, it smelled quite fruitful and obviously that's understood because of the fruit and all the fixings. I walked over to the pick up area for mobile orders and my order was not there. So I waited because I realized it was 11:05a. My order was not to be done until 11:12a. However, the young lady behind the counter asked me if I was there to pick up an order I told her yes, and she proceeded to push my order out to me. I was in and out lickety-split. Another #StickAndMoveCaper, you know I love these. The OVERALL EXPERIENCE: overall from start to finish, from the time I entered the parking lot to the time I exited the parking lot. This was one of the better experiences at a Smoothie King store. I was able to place my order, skip the line, pick up my ACCURATE order and leave. The store was clean. The parking lot was too. Few spaces in the back for parking so off-street parking may be what you need to do. It is on a corner, so you have quite a few areas to park. This place is super close and convenient for me, within walking distance to my home in Mid-City. They have generous servings, the middle size is 32 Oz, perfect. They have an extensive menu, I went with the immune-builder with sweet strawberries, delicious. So good I opted for it 2 days in a row. I mean, other than the possibility of your wait being a heinous one, the place being filthy, or rude customer service....well I guess there are some things that could go wrong, but that's far from the case at this location. Every neighborhood needs a Smoothie King so I was pleased to see one coming to my part of Mid City. It was a quick installation they did with the place. The inside is quaint, as is the parking lot. I believe you can get about five cars in there, but there's no space for opening doors wide. If you're worried about you car getting checked by another door, try parking on the street. Although, people are in and out rather quickly so it shouldn't be a big deal. He's friendly and seems to recognize me, which is nice and makes me want to come back. But, unfortunately, the service here is not the fastest. A short line of 2-3 people can add up to a 20-30 minute wait. I'm not sure how operations are supposed to work, but I often wonder why there's usually only one person actually making smoothies when there's other staffers behind the counter? I used to love this spot, but yesterday when I went, they towed my car while I was waiting for my smoothie. I ordered a smoothie, was told it would be a long wait, walked to the bank, walked back, and found that (a) my car had been towed and (b) my smoothie still wasn't ready. Be very careful ordering here if you have a nut allergy. The employees are clearly not concerned about cross contamination. I've asked several times for smoothies to be made in the blender for those with nut allergies and when I noticed that that particular blender wasn't being used, the employee responded as if they could care less. I don't have one nice thing to say about this Smoothie King. The first time I came here, there was a hair in my smoothie. Disgusting, but it happens so I was willing to give the incident a pass. Fast forward a few weeks. I parked in their empty parking lot for *5* minutes AFTER business hours (9:45 PM), and I came back to find my car being towed.I wrote to the store to (1) let them know the service they used, Green Acres Towing, had an employee who verbally berated us and cursed at us despite us being nothing but polite, and (2) suggest that they have a sign stressing no parking during non-business hours in front of the actual parking spots if they're going to tow within five minutes. There was a sign on the side wall, yes, but that two people could park there without seeing that sign shows that it's not a very visible marker. The owner merely deflected and said the towing service was not an employee of Smoothie King. There are numerous Smoothie King franchises throughout this city. If I were you, I'd pass on this one and try to find one where you won't have hairs in your smoothie and won't have your complaints blithely disregarded.
