I wanna say that im disappointed in the safety/health practice I noticed today while in the drive thru of smoothie king. Although the ladies seemed nice in the drive thru, the practices are not acceptable. First, only one of the ladies were wearing a uniform. Second, the lady without the uniform was charging her phone next to the food. (Could see her sitting on an office chair and on her phone) Third, the charging cord was dipping into where the fruit is (definitely not food safe) Last, definitely not professional to sit on the phone and only have one of the employees do all the work and not help. I've been coming to this waukee one for years getting the same thing and ive never been disappointed in taste but the one thing more consistent with that is the poor service and timing on making a smoothie. even with no other customer around a medium smoothie takes any of the workers 10 minutes which is unacceptable. I've never seen any of the workers moving with any sense of urgency or speed and they never acknowledge or apologize for the delays even with multiple people working inside standing around. read more

Order 3 smoothies today 3/23/25 and while yes it did take some time but was really understand being the girl was by herself with 6 cars in the drive thru and customers inside she still did an amazing job getting the amazing smoothies made. I was a loyal customer ever since Smoothie King opened around town, but that ends now after experiencing shockingly bad customer service repeatedly. In fact, I won't be visiting any of the Smoothie Kings around Des Moines because they're all owned by the same franchisee. They made me a watered down $12 smoothie a week ago (not even close to the the first time they've done that), so I called back to provide friendly feedback. They said I can come back to get it remade. I replied I'll do so next time I'm in the area. They took down my name and didn't indicate that would be an issue. A week later when I came back and asked for the smoothie as promised I was flatly told that the offer was only valid on same day when they messed up my smoothie or the next day. I mentioned that I was never informed of any such condition. The manager refused to budge on their stance so I requested a refund. They said that's not possible either. At that point, I stood my ground until they refunded my money. Talk about an utter lack of customer care! All they had to do is make the smoothie right as they promised they would, but instead they chose to refund my money and lose all future business from me and friends/family who will be avoiding them in the future. Smoothie King, in general, is a strongly unreliable brand considering the amount of money they charge for their products. read more

Not sure if they are incredibly understaffed or if it just takes a VERY long time to make a smoothie but it will always take quite awhile to get through this line. 1 car every 10 minutes or so. You can see this reflected in the few reviews as well. Really hope someone can look into the efficiency of their process as this is an insane wait time for a smoothie. read more

I have been loving smoothie king so much! I'm a very picky eater and they have some delicious smoothies! My favorite that I've been getting the most is their angel food, which comes in regular and slim, but I personally like how the slim version tastes. The slim also has more protein and carbs and less fat and calories than the regular. I would also say they are relatively quick and the workers are very nice. I also really like that after 4pm you can get any smoothie for only $4. I would definitely recommend Smoothie King to anyone. read more

I was enjoying my smoothie outside in my car. My buddy, who works there, comes out and tells me to move my car. I, of course, ask why and he proceeds to tell me the employees and manager are afraid of me and they think I'm going to "shoot up" Smoothie King. How pathetic! How dare they assume that! They will loose more than just my business once I tell people this. The managers are now blaming my buddy for my review. Absolutely the worst smoothie I've ever had. Paid like 15 dollars for a powdery icey smoothie. Only come if you're looking to buy something to fill in a hole in your wall. The management is horrible, will never work with you on anything even the smallest complaint, the smoothie tastes horrifying, and the sugar is WAYYY higher than they want you to believe. Everyone is on their phones all the time or picking their nose, very unsanitary. Don't take your kids here either. Only come here if you want rude service from a low-demand industry, and smoothie you can crack your teeth on. Disgusting. Two thumbs aren't enough to put down for this place. read more

It's amazing how a store with nobody in it can have service THIS slow. I've never waited less than 10 minutes for a smoothie, even if I'm the only one in the drive through or store. Drinks are also extremely over-priced and the sizes are ridiculously large. The only reason this review isn't one star is that once you get the drink it's actually pretty good. On my my across country, really wanted a smoothie, only place on my way. Received two smoothies that were not what I ordered. Had ordered apple kiwi kale and carrot kale dream with no sugar and no additives. Somehow I ended up with something strawberry and something that tasted like green tea, which had god knows what in them. I also grabbed a kind bar which expired in April. Just reconfirms why I never go to Smoothie King. Thanks for wasting my time and almost $20 for two small smoothies. read more

When I first learned about this place I was super excited. If I want a smoothie, then usually I make my own or drive out to the Juice Company on 42nd street. While I'm a fan of the Juice Company, I don't look forward to that 15-20 minute drive. I've tried Smoothie King five or six times and each time I'm left wishing for something more. I've tried the green tea, a couple of fruity smoothies, and the nutty banana one and none of them suited my fancy. They're all either too bland or too sweet. Even though I've racked up enough rewards points to get a freebie months ago, I haven't gone to redeem it because I know the smoothie itself wouldn't be satisfying. Plus, the last time I went, I ordered two smoothies--one fruity and one nutty banana r and they gave my NB smoothie away to the wrong person and didn't offer to remake the one I originally ordered. Instead, they gave me the one that the other person ordered. Mind you the drive thru employee was aware of the mistake. By this time I'd already waited in line for 10 minutes (because service is always slow). So I just went with what he gave me and decided I would stop giving my money away to a place with slow service and a C+ product. read more

It takes way too long to get a smoothie and the product is hit and miss. The staff needs oversight but the handful of times I have gone there has not been a manager providing oversight. Some leadership may help to ensure a sense of urgency and consistent product. read more
