I took my 18' Key West to repair a few items after receiving a quote from another shop. My motor…read morewas getting oil in my water separator and I had a broken plastic fuel vent on the side of the hull. Another shop had quoted $1550 for motor tune up and valve. Turns out the issue was a simple check valve that allowed oil to flow back into the water separator. EC changed out the valve, the separator filter and a new fuel filter and installed a new custom flush mounted vent valve.. Cost a fraction of what the first company was quoting, saved well over $1000 and the boat runs like a top now. So happy I went there for a second opinion they know right away what I needed, had my boat back in 48 hours. 0)

My wife and I keep a pair of jet skis with Marina One. The convenience factor enables/motivates us to use them multiple times per week, which means that the utilization factor more than pays for itself. The proximity to the Boca Inlet is a huge plus. Depending on day of week, hour of day, month of year, inter-coastal speed limits vary- but we're never more than ~15~25 min from the ocean. Moreover, the service has been exemplary. The staff are engaging, attentive, helpful, and genuinely make us feel welcome. Never has there been an issue with short notice trailer loads/unloads, dock loads/retrievals. This is a great example of a business where the employees make a difference- something we're extremely appreciative of. We look forward to our visits as a result. Compared to the cost and hassle of having to deal with refueling and trailering skies to/from home/rental space, in my view this service (while not exactly "cheap") offers a fantastic value proposition. They are like a family" happy" there and they treated me as such. The service requested on my boat was prompt and timely. They could have taken advantage of a couple of things but simply corrected them at no cost to me and showed me how to correct them myself in the future. I showed up early to drop my boat off, there were workmen already there who had no problem dealing with me before the place even opened. Hell they even gave me a jump when my truck didn't start, with no rolling of the eyes. Dealing with poor service and miserable people constantly, makes one a cynic but Outboard Specialties brings back hope. I've dealt with them in the past with the purchase of parts for the boat. Then, if you are a price comparative shopper, you know that Marine West is one of the pricier stores for boating needs. Indeed, I only shop at West Marine for items I can't find at lower priced retail boating centers such as Sailorman or Boat Owners Warehouse (BOW). Like all West Marine stores, however, everything is well displayed, the facility is neat, orderly, and clean as well as staffed with a knowledgeable, polite sales staff.
