Although it's expensive I do believe one should view a subscription with Snap as an investment in their future. With the rising cost of Health Care and the easily accessible poor dietary options all over it's very easy to look at the costs of food and pay for one meal what you could pay at McDonalds for the day. I took the latter option for many years and used the money saved to put it toward investment opportunities. Needless to say I got my bloodwork done recently and the results were not good. My doctor strongly advised me to not play around with my health and spend the extra money I was saving for retirement on better food options otherwise I may not live to reap the benefits of my money invested. Not wanting to take any risks I listened my doctors advice and subscribed to snap's high protein meal plan. They cover all my food and prepackage everything so all I need to do is just heat it in the microwave. This has made dramatic improvements in my health and I'm hoping for my returns on my investment over the long run. read more

i have only been to snap twice and both times have been very impressed with their service. the food i have tried has been good and better than some other "to-go" type places. I think it is best to order ahead if you want to pick up a lot of stuff. The 6th street store is new and limited. The great thing is that they will custom make certain menu items if needed for special diet restrictions. They also have RD if you need any special help with the menu/ingredients. read more

longtime customer and supporter here. this place has been my go-to for years and i think it is amazing how tasty some of the dishes are. creative too. my problem is that they have grown too fast and no longer listen to their customers! hello, you aren't carrying salads in austin in august?! and they have (had) one of my favorite salads ever, the awesome sesame kale salad. it was soooo satisfying and took lots of chewing and stayed with you for hours! NO MORE.now they are subbing out the wimpy little salads that aren't as good as almost anything you can get at central market or anywhere. the quality isn't there now, either. the cheesy egg bites (a former fave) no longer see to have cheese and are a dry, overcooked consistancy. i hate to see this place decline but there are far better choices all over austin and....most of them have compostable packaging! read more

Not very pleased with this place, I have been to SNAP several times right after 7AM to grab breakfast and each time I have gone there is not much selection. The staff said they usually don't get the food in from the flagship store until after 9AM. If this is the case, why open at 7AM. This morning I went in and once again there was not much selection to grab breakfast and lunch. The computer was not working and my item could not be rung up. After waiting several minutes I had to leave without any food b/c I had to be at work by 7:30am. I ended up having to go to Whole Foods and get a breakfast taco. Not my favorite but I was starving after a long and hard workout and had to eat something. I arrived to work 15 min. late. The only reason I continue going to this place is because the location is convenient and I do like the food when it is available. read more

Snap is my go-to lunch spot nearly every day! The variety is endless and they are constantly adding new menu items. The Snap team is super friendly and helpful. Almost every time I ask them how a certain item is that I haven't tried yet, they offer to buy it for me so I can try it risk-free. Their food is fresh, delicious, healthy, and easy. What more can you ask for!? Snap for President. Tip: Anytime I eat these at home (instead of work) I heat them up in a skillet on the stovetop. The staff at this Snap Kitchen location is fantastic! They have the difficult task of a small space with high sales volume, thus having to constantly restock while customers shop...and they do so with ease and care, while keeping a mind to both staying out of the way and ask and answer questions. I'm consistently impressed. They are all very friendly and go out of their way to find items in back stock, remember you and your preferences, and offer to help new and returning customers alike. Snaps meals are Delicious my go-to option for all meals, being consistently of high quality, great taste, and very convenient. I came in looking for food that would fuel me for a big race, and left with a bag full of cee-lish meals that not only got me over the finish line, but helped me finish strong! Update: My first review is below still, but I have upgraded from two to four stars!! It seems that they have added a ton more options! I just picked up dinners for the entire week, and for $12, got a large thing of Turkey Bolognese Brown Rice Spaghetti, which only takes 2 minutes to reheat and I added steamed green beans (which also took 2 minutes), so it was super easy for a very comforting meal for two people. I also got Mayan Chicken which came with mashed squash and was great (the container was enough for dinner for two people when we werent starving haha).... and tonight we still have some chili, beef tenderloin with mixed veggies, or truffled mac n' cheese to choose from!!! They've also added some more diet options like low sodium or Paleo or dairy free--which is great since I'm gluten-free and also have to deal with a few other dietary concerns! Hint: stay on the lookout for another groupon and let's cross our fingers they do one, that was amazing ($20 for $40 of food!) This is a convenience place--nothing more... If you have recently started a special diet, like a gluten-free or low cholesterol, then they have good, pre-packaged options that are clearly labeled, so you can eat with confidence... but you will need to add some spice because lots of this food is very bland. I've been coming here to pick up lunches for the week for the last several months. The customer service is unbelievable and the majority of the food is really good. My favorites are the turkey chili and the bison quinoa hash. I was motivated to write a review today because I dropped one of the meals I'd just purchased and one of the employees got me a new one and actually apologized to me, even though this was clearly entirely my fault. I think I'd be hard pressed to find a place with friendlier staff and better service. I highly recommend Snap Kitchen for takeway food, despite the fairly high price. read more

I FINALLY tried SNap Kitchen yesterday! I don't know what my problem was, it is less than a mile from my house and I have wanted to try it for months, I drive by it literally every day... Previously I had been going to My Fit Foods on Lamar, the food never impressed me and I mostly didn't enjoy it much so I credit that disappointment with my delay in visiting Snap Kitchen. So, that said I was very surprised and pleased, they exceeded my expectations! I was there twice in one day, the first time I had the veggie lasagna and absolutley loved it later in the evening I had the Havana Beef and I think I am in love. It was very flavorful and filling, there are so many different elements to it that every bite was amazing. One of my friends mentioned that the Snap Kitchen in the Triangle is much bigger and has tables and a salad bar, I will have to check that out. I highly reccommend Snap Kitchen. Even if it isn't something that you want to commit to eating everyday it is a great alternative to grabbing something unhealthy in a pinch. It is fast, the prices are great and you can choose the serving size that best matches your appetite at the time. I also grabbed a few bags of different nuts to keep in my purse, a healthy easy snack that I can feel good about and stops me from filling myself with empty calories when I need a quick fix. I come here a lot and love this place. However last Friday, 6/30, I showed up at 7:59 and walked in as there was another person in the store. I didn't even realize they were closing. I got 5 steps into the store and was greeted with"we're closed". No "hi", "good evening". I work in the food industry and understand closing procedures, but they should have locked the door if they were not wanting to assist anyone at 7:59pm (closing time was 8pm). It takes one minute to grab a meal I would like for dinner and check out. She stopped me and I had to turn around and leave. The other day I was there and store employees were taking inventory at 7:45 and seemed annoyed that I was grabbing meals as they were working. I'm sure this is why they didn't want to me to grab a meal at 7:59om bc it would mess up inventory (which should be done after closing? And cashing out register?) . This location is convenient as well as your meals, and I like to pick them up on my way home from the gym. Next time, I won't get there close to closing time and expect to be helped and store employees should lock up right at 7:59pm if they're expecting to get out of there right at 8pm like it has seemed in the past. I'm laid up at home with an injury for the second time in a little over a year. Last time I got a meal plan from Mel's Meals, and while I enjoyed the convenience of not having to plan or prepare my meals (and the relatively cheap delivery option they offer), and MOST of the food was pretty good, it was a little bland for my taste. I ended up supplementing most everything with hot sauce and other adjuncts, and I was very much ready to start eating "normal" food again by the time my 3 prepaid weeks were up. But this isn't a review of Mel's Meals! They're just my closest point of comparison. This time around I picked Snap Kitchen, because I was looking to try something else, and had enjoyed their food well enough when I randomly bought some off the shelf a few months ago to feed me for a few days I was stuck at home. First big plus, they've got several calorie levels of stock 3-week meal plans you can order right off the shelf (provided you don't have major dietary restrictions other than perhaps "gluten free" since most everything is GF anyway) without scheduling a consultation or pre-paying for the whole plan. You can just call up whenever and ask for example "hey, can I get days 7, 8, and 9 of the 1500-calorie plan?" and they'll bag it up and have it ready to go for pickup. Delivery charges are actually much LESS "doable" for one person on a meal plan, but I've got lots of wonderful helpers this time volunteering to pick things up for me - and Snap goes with the same every-3-days pickup schedule so each dish is still fresh by the time you eat it. I figured I actually want about 1800-2000 calories per day during my convalescence - normally a compulsive daily exerciser and want to avoid packing on pounds while completely sedentary for a few weeks. But I do want to make one simple, small meal for myself daily (yogurt/fruit/nuts, can't get enough!), so I opted for the 1500 calorie plan to be supplemented by 300-500 extra calories per day prepared at home. 5 packaged meals per day on any of Snap's plans: breakfast/lunch/dinner and two "snacks" in between, though in practice the snacks may or may not be any smaller by calorie count than the main meals on any given day - not a complaint at all, just an observation. Just over 4 days in, I'm finding pretty universally that Snap's dishes are much more flavorful than my last "healthy prepackaged meal plan" experience :D I've been really impressed. Everything's been good, mostly VERY good, but they do particularly well with savory baked dishes - the tart florentine and veggie "lasagna" (no noodles, just layers of flat-cut veggies, very cute idea) are two major highlights so far. And even at 1500 calories per day, it's a lot of food (with plenty of healthy fat content!, which as a long-time self-planned dieter finally approaching goal weight I know is a major key to avoiding unwanted cravings). I've got a couple of minor nitpicks, but not even enough to bump off half a star here. One, most dishes I find to be slightly undersalted... which is fine, I know a lot of people try to avoid sodium; I'm just not one of them. Easily corrected by sprinkling on just a little salt. And two, I think they're just a little TOO set on making gluten-free dishes. If I'm not mistaken the only non-GF items on the menu are the tortilla wraps, which are I think absent from this meal plan anyway. Now mostly they do this right, with the carbier dishes built around wonderful whole foods like sweet potatoes and quinoa that I am more than happy to eat even if they don't have any gluten. But when I'm eating a breakfast sandwich on a GF english muffin, I have to think come on, would it have killed you to just use real bread and omit this item for your GF customers? ;) I will say though, the one dish so far involving actual pasta (made from brown rice) was just delightful despite the lack of wheat flour. And on the whole this is a really minor complaint since most all the meals have been great. Oh, and maybe Three: it's definitely on the pricey side. But, it's great food, and you get what you pay for! All in all, I'm really happy with my decision to go with Snap this time around, for the tastiness of the food first and foremost, but not least of all because when I'm finally up for preparing my own food again I can just stop ordering the next 3 days of Snap meals (or even order half-days, maybe) without having sunk the whole meal plan cost at the beginning. read more

I heard about Snap Kitchen through a co-worker who has enjoyed there service and selection. My experience however left something to be desired. I walked into the 6th street location last Thursday 12/15 shortly after lunch. I was vaguely greeted by the only cashier in the store. When I informed him it was my first time in and would like an overview of the store I was informed that he needed a minute to wrap things up on the computer behind the counter. After several "minutes" of navigating the store alone I am eventually greeted by your associate Jon who was wearing pants that were dripping wet with no shoes or socks on his feet. When I inquire as to why the only answer I receive is that he had to ride his bike in the rain and couldn't think far enough ahead to bring dry clothes. Needless to say this was both unappetizing and a general health concern on my part. After that I politely listened to Jon explain the different locations, the commit diet, ect... before excusing myself without making a purchase. I then walked down to Hut's Hamburger almost to be facetious, because I would rather eat greasy burgers and fries served to me by someone wearing pants and shoes than the "healthy alternative." read more
