    It's a piece of a plastic bag

**UPDATE ** The manager reached out and offered a free salad to visit again and give them another chance. I have added another star for the great customer service. I will update after my next visit. ** I was so excited to try Mad Greens again and introduce my assistant to it. I placed our order online this afternoon as a to-go order. While sitting down to enjoy my salad at my desk, I found a piece of plastic inside. It looks like someone cut open a bag of something and carelessly dropped a piece of the bag in my salad!! (I haven't had a chance to call the store, it just happened a few hours ago.)

I had higher hopes for a 14/15.00 salad. Highlights -friendly staff -fresh ingredients -little to NO wait during peak lunch time -plenty of parking -you can make your own salad OR pick one of the curated ones on the menu We had the mad ceasar (dressing on the side) TY Cobb- good but super overdressed. Not sure if that is the brand or TX style? We are used to a lighter dressed salad which maybe more west coast style salads. House made hummus and fresh pita. Pita was delish.. warm, chewy. The hummus (red pepper) was under seasoned. Tasted just like plain hummus minus any garlic, salt or depth of flavor. Drinks. 7.00 fresh juices. It was OK. We are fans of pressed juices and this fell short for the cost. They also have a soda station and teas. They have

    Black tea and lemonade.

We visited this restaurant again since we were in the mood for a good salad, and let me tell you - they did not disappoint. We were greeting graciously by one of their employees and she proceeded to ask what ingredients we wanted added or changed to our order. We chose to go with the standard ingredients and she ensured that the right amount of dressing was added to our salad (you can choose light, medium or heavy). As previously, the salad was wonderful. If you are in Sunset Valley and are looking for a good salad, give this place a try. I am sure you will rate it 5 stars as well.

    Large Ty Cobb Salad

MAD Greens is similar to Salata and Sweetgreen. They offer salads that have pre-selected ingredients or you can build your own. I wanted to build my own salad until I realized that it costs extra if you add more than 4 ingredients. I love veggies and knew I would exceed that, so I went with one of their pre-selected salads. I tried the Ty Cobb Salad and swapped the blue cheese dressing with Caesar dressing. The employee who made my salad was nice, but she accidentally added salt to my salad when I had asked for pepper only. Luckily it wasn't too salty. I enjoyed the salad, especially the avocado. The large salad is only a $1 more. It is pretty filling, but it's not as big as the large salad at Salata. I'm glad that I was finally able to try MAD Greens. It hasn't dethroned my favorite place, but it is a nice option when I'm not in the mood to make the trek up to North Austin.

    Mine was the smaller bowl....

This restaurant is kind of an "assembly line" style where you can really customize what you want or order directly from the menu options. They do have a good selection of different gluten free options, but be mindful that cross contamination can occur. Plenty of booth and table seating is available inside and they do have an outdoor patio with seating as well. Parking is free and there is a huge open lot, so there's always space to park as well. I recently stopped in with my sister for lunch and ordered my salad to be the larger version in a to-go bowl. Instead, I received a salad in a smaller, to-stay bowl. My sister did not order hers to-go or upsize it, and her bowl was larger than mine, so while it looked like I had more salad.... I did not. Definitely something to be mindful of. I usually love coming here because I customize my salad, but my request for lightly spiced avocado was disregarded and the salad was way too spicy for me, which really ruined my enjoyment of the salad. I've been here several times before and always loved it, so it's disappointing that this single experience was so terrible, and largely because the things I asked for were disregarded. I will keep coming here in the future because I love the food, but this does make me less likely to keep it as a first option. Especially with Cava right next door...

Serious question: did someone eat half my food? I just picked up a to go order and no one talked to me for several minutes and I had to stand there because they did not put out to go bags on the shelf. So I was standing there watching the guy making food while he pretended to ignore me, which was difficult to do with my 2 year old. I finally asked him about my order and he gave it to me and I opened it up and this was it. Never going here again.

Similar to Cava with less options. however, the salad and ingredients are fresh.....

We had the chicken pakoras deep fried in a chickpea batter. Great healthy flavor. A side dipping sauce of chutney accompanied the starter nicely. We also tried the Vegetable pakoras with potato and onion. Fresh and crispy. The Yellow Daal Curry had nice flavor of Indian spices, onions, cumin, and coriander. It tasted fresh and healthy. We order with jasmine rice for all of our dishes. Light and fluffy. Very nice portions. The chicken Tikka Masala was not the typical flavor. It was more spicy than creamy and being totally honest they need to re-do this recipe. I have had this dish tons of times and the flavor is totally off. It wasn't bad pre se, just not typical flavors of the dish. I would love to see them re-do this one please! Then let me know and I will come back. Lovely fresh coconut flavor and the potatoes were so good! oh...and don't forget to get yourself some garlic naan. Yum Yum. A great place to gather for lunch or dinner with friends and family. The elote was good, but very creamy and a bit heavy. The queso was good but tbh I prefer Torchy's. The grilled steak taco was a bit underwhelming, I wanted it to have more flavor, it just tasted like beef and cheese. The chicken had good flavor and the special weekly taco was enjoyable and interesting, not like any taco I have had before. There is plenty of variety for people including those with dietary restrictions. My friends ordered two tacos each and I was full after 3 tacos so if you are not a big eater stick with two.

I was really craving a great salad, so I decided to go in. At first you walk up and order, and then the clerk at the front, like all other places turns the screen around and says "One last question", and then stares at you, while you read their 3 tipping options. So you're standing there, guilted into tipping, by an individual that only pressed a couple of buttons, only to have the kitchen get your order wrong. At an establishment like this, it would be nice if you could tip at the end, after the whole experience, instead of out of obligation at the beginning, because you have an individual begging for it. Anyways. So after I ordered I waited, only to get a $20 salad that had 4 small pieces of chicken and with the Miso dressing which I didn't order. I ordered the Lemon Avocado Vinaigrette which came with no snap peas, when I ordered extra. Then when I finally was able to flag someone down and tell them what had happened, she said "Ok" and went back and got a bowl of snap peas. No "I'm sorry" or "Let us remake it" I wouldn't have had them remake it because I hate wasting food.....but what I hate more is feeling like crap, undervalued and unappreciated. Where was the customer service? If you want a great salad, go here......but don't expect to get what you ordered, after you've been strong armed into tipping, and when you bring it up, expect an eye roll like you're inconveniencing them. I think I'll be taking all my Rollingwood women's group friends, to the new spot for a try......Sweet Green in the HEB parking lot.....or I'll go into HEB and buy a whole rotisserie chicken for $6 and a bag of salad for another $4 and go enjoy two salads at home. For such a casual place, y'all sure act uppity, entitled and as if, you're serving Grey Poupn on top of a Grade A slab of Prime Rib.

This trailer is just in front of the Trek bike shop on South Lamar, not out on the street, so it took me a second to find it. It's a great little setup with big covered picnic tables and plenty of space to hang out. Trek also lets you use their bathroom, which is actually really convenient, just head inside and all the way to the back. The food here feels genuinely nourishing. It's vegan and very vegetable forward in a way that doesn't feel preachy, just fresh and intentional. The tacos are especially unique. The tortillas are made from spelt and garbanzo flour, and they remind me a bit of the tangy, pancake-like bread you get with Ethiopian food. It gives the tacos this unexpected flavor and texture that works surprisingly well. The toppings tasted fresh every time, and the tempeh has a smoky flavor, so if you're into that, you'll be happy. I didn't realize at first how customizable the menu is, but you can add all kinds of toppings and extras. They also do full coffee service plus a big smoothie lineup. The smoothies come with sea moss, which I wasn't familiar with before, but they're clearly big believers in it as a nutritional boost. Service was friendly both times. Once they even brought my food out to me! Either way, they were kind and attentive. You can also ask for water even though they don't have self-serve jugs out. A fine time was had by all. * * * The Mueller food court is right in front of that huge concrete semi-circular arch that is supposed to provide cover for outdoor athletic activities. When we were there medieval warriors were using it to practice their sword play, parrying and bashing. Armor is recommended when you are playing with swords and cudgels. The battlers involved were fully equipped. If Renaissance Fair fare is not your thing, in late afternoon, the park at Mueller is gorgeous. Lots of people are walk or exercise by the lake. If you are young and single, Well, wouldn't you know it, many of the walkers and exercisers are young and single too! If lake viewing or fantasizing is not your thing, you can sit over by Airport Boulevard. This is one of the nicer parts of Airport Boulevard. Warmly glowing parkland on either side on either side of the street vastly improve the quality of the view. Given its location, Conscious Craving can be a good place to hang out. * * * How is the food? Old school vegetarian - and that is a good thing. a) The smoothies are absolutely positively 1970s vegetarian. They are not made of carob - but they are of the carob generation. Expect low levels of sugar and a sense you are drinking something nutritious. They have their own quaint charm. b) Wraps are tasty. You get a wide choice of tortillas, veggies and soy based stuff to put in them plus the cook puts in all sorts of garnishes. There are sauces available - but the wraps are fine just as they are. c) Rosemary French Fries are decent enough. French Fries are the eternal proof That you can eat as vegan as you like and Still be eating stuff that is not all that good for you. d) The guy who runs the truck is a real charmer. He is too young to be Grateful Dead generation or Cheech and Chong ... but he has a lot of the coolness of those 70s heroes. e) I know what he means when he brags on the truck that his food is "made with love". I always see more meanings in that phrase than I am supposed to ... I have an awful mind. * * * Overall, Conscious Cravings serves decent food. The healthy diet will keep you alive and well to a ripe old age ... Mueller is a wonderful place to spend some time. If any of the medievalists in the back end up hors de combat from a too-well aimed shot with a broadsword or cudgel, Conscious Cravings will be just what they need to nurse themselves back to health. If you don't want to be quite as historical as the thirteenth century combatants behind you, You can still turn back the pages of the History Book ... To the days when Tofu was called Bean Curd and Nobody outside of Chinatown or vegetarian health retreats knew how to cook it. They have both tofu and seitan at Conscious Cravings. Long May You Live!
