Is it terrific marketing or terrible planning to put MAD Greens in the same building as CAVA? I feel like the kind of people who are interested in a healthy bowl of nourishing food would be split not quite down the middle between both of these restaurants. Are they hoping the better-known Mediterranean bowl place will be so full they can catch their overflow? People in a rush might skip the line and try this less-known healthy bowl food restaurant instead? But I digress... I had tried CAVA four times or so and every time I saw MAD Greens and thought, Someday I'm going to try that place. Well, last Sunday was the day. I got to eat what I wanted because I was eating solo. I'm going all in on this trial run, I thought to myself, so I bought one salad for that day and ordered another to be my lunch the following day. I walked in and was the only customer in the restaurant. I was greeted warmly by the young man behind the counter, who called me queen and had no complaint about my asking for no tomatoes and the dressings on the side. I tried the Greek one and the sesame sriracha one. The place was clean enough and the employees seemed to be enjoying themselves, chatting and goofing off a reasonable amount. The bowls were great. I chose the Greek one first when I realized it had pita chips inside. It came with two dressings, the creamier of which was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Confession--I am a recovering picky eater and I hate cucumbers, but I love sneaking them into my body underneath delicious dressings and salty kalamatas. The second day I ate the sesame sriracha situation. It had tofu, which tbh I have never successfully eaten, and it was really good. It reminded me of the paneer in Indian food. That salad had edamame too, so I was definitely satiated and I'm guessing I got plenty of protein. Overall, I will definitely go back. CAVA has had some consistency problems for me, as well as some of my favorite offerings being limited-time or seasonal (isn't it the worst when restaurants lure you in with seasonal offerings you can't count on?!), so I'm glad to have had such a positive experience here and I'm hoping they will be consistently good. read more

I didn't even get into the wrap before i finished my last review bc i was so upset i spent $22 for it to be a child sized taco- in a cesar salad wrap - they forgot all of the "salad" and the "extras" i paid for. It was literally : tortilla, 7 bites of chicken and fist full of bacon. NO LETTUCE. IN A SALAD WRAP. When you order through doordash, i get no resolution besides my money lost. I'm gonna be honest... I'm not much of a salad person cause I love to leave it to the rabbits and I call salads "Rabbit food" lol. However, I must say that MAD Greens makes some MAD GOOD salads. My go to is the spicy bacon bowl with boil eggs. I feel better about my life when I order this because I'm getting my greens in, getting my protein with the chicken, and I'm actually enjoying my rabbit food (aka salad). This is a must have for me. Coming from a non salad person ( I know... it's okay to judge me) I really enjoy their salads and their spicy bacon bowl makes me happy. Another food item that I love is their Mac and cheese. I'm still leaving a five star review bc the food is delicious and healthy, but I wanted to give the feedback that I'm disappointed with a couple of changes they have made. They used to have beets as an option for the salad, which I used to get added on every time. It was part of what helped me choose to come in here to eat healthy. I'm also disappointed with their "healthy fats" selection. They used to have almonds and I believe also walnuts for a while. They now have taken away all nuts except for praline covered nuts. Which is too sweet for me. They do still have sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds as an option. And also avocado for extra money, but I was very disappointed today with my purchase bc of not having beets as an option or any nuts to add to my salad. We visited this restaurant again since we were in the mood for a good salad, and let me tell you - they did not disappoint. We were greeting graciously by one of their employees and she proceeded to ask what ingredients we wanted added or changed to our order. MAD Greens is similar to Salata and Sweetgreen. They offer salads that have pre-selected ingredients or you can build your own. I wanted to build my own salad until I realized that it costs extra if you add more than 4 ingredients. I love veggies and knew I would exceed that, so I went with one of their pre-selected salads. I tried the Ty Cobb Salad and swapped the blue cheese dressing with Caesar dressing. The employee who made my salad was nice, but she accidentally added salt to my salad when I had asked for pepper only. Luckily it wasn't too salty. I enjoyed the salad, especially the avocado. The large salad is only a $1 more. It is pretty filling, but it's not as big as the large salad at Salata. I'm glad that I was finally able to try MAD Greens. It hasn't dethroned my favorite place, but it is a nice option when I'm not in the mood to make the trek up to North Austin. read more

This restaurant is kind of an "assembly line" style where you can really customize what you want or order directly from the menu options. They do have a good selection of different gluten free options, but be mindful that cross contamination can occur. Plenty of booth and table seating is available inside and they do have an outdoor patio with seating as well. Parking is free and there is a huge open lot, so there's always space to park as well. I recently stopped in with my sister for lunch and ordered my salad to be the larger version in a to-go bowl. Instead, I received a salad in a smaller, to-stay bowl. My sister did not order hers to-go or upsize it, and her bowl was larger than mine, so while it looked like I had more salad.... I did not. Definitely something to be mindful of. I usually love coming here because I customize my salad, but my request for lightly spiced avocado was disregarded and the salad was way too spicy for me, which really ruined my enjoyment of the salad. I've been here several times before and always loved it, so it's disappointing that this single experience was so terrible, and largely because the things I asked for were disregarded. I really want to like Mad Greens since I only eat salads someone is making for me. But, every time I give it another chance, I end up feeling disappointed... There are a few things that could be improved. For instance, while Caesar salads are a classic, their version uses a southwestern dressing, which feels off. I come here pretty frequently and today it was a disaster. The staff consists of high school age workers who are more preoccupied with their friends. The girl at the register was oblivious to what was going on and even though it was busy, she was standing by the register talking to a friend. She went to wrap my food and then told me "I don't know why it's not taping" instead of double wrapping it or offering me a bag. I went and asked for a bowl to put my wrap in because I was offered a huge bag. I'd like to give a HUGE shoutout to Christopher (he has a ton of cool pins on his hat- you may recognize him that way!) because he was genuinely one of those people you meet and they just make your day. My parents and I went yesterday, and while the entire staff was friendly, Christopher who was so outgoing went out of his way with his bright smile and extraordinary personality. This was a random find that I enjoyed greatly. I was in shock first to spend over $10.00 on a smaller salad, but they staff and the quality of food made it well worth it. With Covid I wasn't really able to see how fast this goes, but I was impressed on the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff.
