Disney Junior Play Zone

Disney Junior Play Zone

It is really nice to have an indoor, interactive play place that is FREE in Middlesex county…read more Perfect place to take my child to in the winter, or on days where weather keeps you away from the park and outdoor activities. The play zone is located in a stand-alone area of a previous store, on the corner next to Nordstrom and across from Color Me Mine, and a sports memorabilia store. It has multiple areas for parents to sit, and its own bathroom equipped with a changing table. The seating is set up in a way that closes in most of the area, which helps to keep the little ones confined to the play area, and not wandering (or running) off into the mall. Under the seats there are shoe cubbies, and on the wall multiple hand sanitizer dispensers. Now for the children.... There is a small slide with a tunnel underneath. Surrounding the slide is a road themed carpet which leads to a Mickey and Minnie themed pretend sports car. A giant television in the middle of the zone I have noticed is typically playing Vampirina. The zone also has a foot stomp keyboard, next to that on one side are two computers and on the other side is a push button wall that plays sounds. The back wall has an abacus and a tic-tac-toe tile game. I know I am missing a few things but that covers most of it. Now I am well aware this ''zone" is promoting Disney, however Middlesex county lacks free indoor play areas with a park-like feel, where kids can run around with others and interact. So major kudos to Disney and Simon properties for providing a space free of charge for our little ones to do what they do. I rated this space 4/5 stars because it is truly a space for ages 5 and under. I would give an older child playing here about 5 minutes til boredom set in. Also the space is on the smaller side. Especially on a Saturday in the middle of the day in the dead of winter, you are looking at a packed house. Before I conclude I want to mention a few reviews that are already posted.... This place should not be reviewed based on rambunctious children or a lack of parental supervision. That is not a valid review of the actual establishment. It would be like giving a product a negative review because of slow shipping speed, or being sent the wrong item. The concerns noted by previous reviewers are invalid because they have nothing to do with the play zone itself. Also this zone can not be policed as it is a somewhat public space. Are parks policed? It is up to the parents to properly keep track of their own children. While it is frustrating when some parents fail to do their duty in watching their own kids, that is the way it goes, just as if it was a park. This is a FREE indoor space that is good for our children. I would recommend trying it out on a weekday or weeknight so as not to be overwhelmed by crowds. Way to go Disney and Simon!

Free and my child did not want to leave. However bathroom on location wasn't cleaned.read more

The people who paid 10 dollars is now on 1 court with 40 people trying to play I asked for a refund because I didn't play and they told me there's nothing they can do. Managers say they'll get back to you and nothing. Nothing but young kids working here who don't have a manager. Scheduled games are constantly being changed last minute. Extremely inconsiderate. Our team requested no 11pm games and then when we questioned why we received another bye week the manager spitefully replied it's 11pm or a bye week. We received a second bye week because the manager wanted to play catch up in one of the men's leagues because they're behind, now putting the women's league behind. The men already have leagues Monday-Wednesday, Over 35 league on Friday evenings and then Saturdays and Sundays. Women's league is only on Thursdays so not sure why we have to sacrifice our PAID playing time for another league. This facility has kept no promises they made. "We will make sure leagues are fair" but the D3 league has been D1 level. They've tried getting rid of the women's league because "it doesn't bring that much money in." Maybe as a manager you should do a better job of recruiting teams to play here, as it is part of your job requirements. But it's hard to do your job when you're never at the actual facility. Must be nice to receive a salary and not actually work for it.

I'm here to tell you that if you live in the area, and you swim or have children who like to be outdoors in a pool, this is a way better way to get that experience than to have your own pool at home. The pool is split in 3 separate areas. 1 for swimming (25ft), 1 for adults (depth ~ 6 ft) and 1 general area for kids and adults to just be in the water. Outside the pool area there is a kiddo pool for those under 4 years old. Then there is a very nice water spray park with plenty of activities for those under 7 years old. Lastly, there are slides for those 14 and under when they can go all wet and slide down -- this is shaded under trees so it's cooler than the other areas. The park sells food, but people bring their own coolers with food and drinks (no alcohol). Bathrooms and change areas are cool and safe. People are really friendly, mostly teenagers acting as staff. Lifeguards are around in all sections. Children need to pass a swimming test to be in the other areas of the pool. If they do not know how to swim or thread in water, they get a yellow band and are confined to the recreation area. I've met plenty of people from the community. Everybody is friendly. People get the season pass and go there every time the weather is nice.

It was just about closing time and my husband and I were the only patrons left in the water. I put my arms around my husband and gave him a totally benign kiss when we were approached by a lifeguard who accused us of being sexually inappropriate. I immediately exited the pool and found a manager who wildly accused us of disorderly conduct. Furthermore if you have young children I advise against taking them here as although thong bikinis are against pool policy I see them on a regular basis.
