I've only been to American Classic half a dozen times over the last year perhaps, but I've always left the place full and satisfied. When I go to restaurants I tend to find the one thing I really like there and end up only ever ordering that one meal on all subsequent visits. American Classic Cafe is no different for me as I discovered that I love the Alfredo Benedict (a garlic flavored eggs Benedict) and have been ordering it every time. I've always gone there with my father who has been slightly more adventurous with his meal selection such as steak and eggs, pancakes, general breakfast meals etc. and he's always liked what he had. American Classic is a low-key down home comfortable (in the sense that you can just come as you are and not feel out of place ) restaurant to eat. Ive only ever eaten there in the AM but I've always found the wait staff pleasant to interact with during my visits. Perhaps you might consider it the next time you're out for a meal! read more

I ordered the western omelette and had rye toast and hashbrowns. The taste was great and the temp was good. The speed of service was average but the server was very nice and extremely knowledgeable. The atmosphere is of a classic diner. The place is clean and the decor is somewhat updated. They are doing great with the COVID rules and have sanitizer on hand as well as some social distancing measures. Things to note are the pancakes are delicious and the hashbrowns are very good. I could have used more of those but the portion was appropriate. They offered dessert but it was only lunch so I declined. Bathrooms were old but not outdated and clean. I would return for breakfast for sure. read more

So many choices, many unique dishes. Just the kind of place that I love to find! I had the applesauce meatloaf skillet. Hash browns topped with eggs, applesauce meatloaf and Alfredo sauce. Usually I'm scared of meatloaf but the description intrigued me and the sweet waitress confirmed I needed to try it. The meatloaf melted in my mouth. The dish was served with a side, I choose pancakes. Left very full and very satisfied. We found a new favorite place. My husband was just as pleased with his meal. Stopped here 2 weeks ago because I was hungry and the place i wanted to eat at was closed for remodeling. Ordered breakfast because that's the one thing most places can't screw up. Boy was I wrong. Eggs ordered over medium came fried hard. Hash browns were cool in the center and not very brown on top. Don't like pork that is still red or pink in the center so didn't eat the sausage. The only thing that was any good at all was the coffee. The waitress was to busy chatting with her boyfriend to ask me if everything was ok. Matter of fact she didn't even deliver my food. Came for a midday meal and decided on breakfast. I've heard about this place around town from locals and figured why not. Glad I came! I had the Benedict and it was really good. Eggs cooked perfect, portion was what I expected. Also, if your not upgrading your hash browns to the Tim's Special you should really be asking yourself what your doing with your life. . Service went down. Thankfully not for us but one waitress was not good. She was loud and inconsiderate with the other guests. One group decided to move to a warmer table and all she said was that all the tables were the same temperature. What happened to customer's always right? Food was pretty good though. read more

We went here tonight, we had the pork tenderloin sandwiches. Very, very good. The fries were hot, fresh and nicely seasoned. We split a piece of Pecan Pie, the crust was flaky, lots of pecans, and the filling was quite tasty. We will be back. read more

We arrived at around 5pm for dinner, and waited a good five minutes for someone to show up at the host stand to take us to a table. Once seated, we had a pretty salty waitress who made it pretty clear she was not happy to be there. When she came to take our order, she asked, "You know what you want?" When she dropped off our food, she stated, "Here you go," and practically ran away. The food was equally bad. My GF and I ordered the smothered chicken, which were 2 reheated pre-cooked frozen chicken breasts that were freezer burned, and served with a slice of american cheese on it, and some barely grilled onions and canned mushrooms on top. Good food. Decent price. I recommend the AWESOME huge plates of onion rings!! Just be sure to take your antacid, because these babies are fried in good old fashion American style. I wish the set up & atmosphere was a bit different. You order first and that's a bit confusing on whether to tip your waitress or not, but overall it's a good stop for cafe food.
