Now that I have your attention and I've given you an ear worm, I'll share a story. My friends and I spent a Saturday on ísbíltúr, which is an Icelandic tradition of taking an ice cream road trip. We hit five different places around the Salt Lake valley and lived to tell about it; with only a slight stomachache. This one is a drive through with a small walk-up window and seating outside. It happened to be our last stop on our journey and was the perfect ending to our adventure! We ordered our cones at the window and then sat on the patio in the warm evening air, enjoying our final treats of the day. The patio is situated between two drive through lines, so the setting is a little unusual, but still good vibes. Blue Moo offers Blue Bell ice cream (IYKYK) and is generous in their portion sizes. There's a lovely blue cow photo op adjacent to the drive thru (logistics can be a little tricky if there are cars queuing up).

We got the Oatmeal Cookie and Pistachio Almond. Both delicious! The prices were reasonable and the portions were decent. The staff were super nice and the tables outside were kept clean for those that want to stay and eat their ice cream. Can't wait to go back to try more flavors! Snelgrove Ice Cream opened here just four months ago and it is already one of the good reasons to make the trip. Founded in 1929, sold off in the 90s, and brought back by the family in 2019. It is the kind of comeback story that makes you want to order a second scoop just to show support. Walking into this location feels like that comeback is in good hands. The walls tell the Snelgrove story with a nostalgic touch that gives the space personality, and the merch selection, small but creative, is worth a look on your way out. The menu covers scoops, milkshakes and malts, sundaes, dirty sodas, cookies, and gummies. The flavor list is small rather than overwhelming, and if you are on the fence they will let you sample before you commit. The signature flavors are the ones to know: Canadian Vanilla, Burnt Almond Fudge, and Bear Lake Raspberry are original Snelgrove recipes. I went with the caramel salted cashew, and added waffle chips. Creamy, rich, and exactly what a premium scoop should taste like. Bear Lake Raspberry is already on my list for the next visit. One honest note: the portion size is on the modest side. Worth knowing before you order, and worth sizing up if you are anything like me. Friendly staff, great story, and a product that backs it up. Four stars and a brand I am genuinely rooting for.

It is an Utah legend that was purchased by Dreyer's who did nothing with it. The brand fell by the wayside. The original two locations in SLC were designated historic landmarks. The granddaughter bought the rights when it became available again. She uses grandpa's recipes. So glad she is doing well to open up yet a fourth or fifth (?) location! They were totally prepared for the crowds for this 2 scoops for $2 grand opening special! Pop up tents outside for the line to funnel through. When my wife and I went last night, there were about 50 in line. But due to their efficiency, the line went pretty fast. They had two working outside to take orders, which were circled on pre-printed papers with the flavors. They had laminated menus passed out to everyone. The order slip was then given back to you. Once in, there were around 8 employees working behind the counter scooping, cashing out, supplying. You got to the beginning of the freezer case, they took your paper, wrote your name down, passed it down the line to someone who would scoop. Then they called your name and gave you your ice cream. Bam! done in less than 5 minutes. All the while all the employees are happy, being cheerful, enjoying what they are doing. The place is clean, brightly lit, has a seating area with four tables and a long bench with chairs. All fun colors. Very nice store. The grand opening special is over now, but you should still go and check it out. The ice cream is SO good! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. But you can watch them make your order right in front of you. They use nitrogen and fresh cream to make each ice cream quickly. The taco is a waffle cone shell. They were also able to accommodate my friend who is gluten free. She got her ice cream without the taco shell. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a sweet treat!

The service has been friendly every time we've gone, and pretty quick too, even when busy. I did ask about their coffee shakes, but no employees had tried them. They didn't seem knowledgeable on what was popular, so that may be an area for them to focus on. It feels very clean in there, and the menu is easy to follow. I liked one of my shakes (the Chocolatier) and didn't love a different one that I got (I think it was a Tiramisu shake). There are still more I want to try. We love dessert, so we will be back!
