    Strawberry and mint

A friend took us here and while it was and the options were fun to put together, I did not find it as flavorful as I expected. That said the portions are huge - not one of us finished our ice cream.

Good portion sizes and prices. A lot of options to customize your ice cream with. I enjoyed it but I wasn't blown away. Overall great experience and I would try it again. The servers were nice and there were ample seats to enjoy your ice cream there.

Honeydew mixed with mango, topped with mochi and wafers

I paid $20 with tip for 2 ice creams. It was a group of us and we felt very comfortable and had privacy. There's parking right next to the shop, and they had so many choices I honestly took 5 minutes just to decide what I wanted. I got the honeydew base with mixed in mango, toppings of mochi and wafer sticks. It was very good and flavorful, and I highly recommend the piña colada; my friend got it and it was excellent.

We craved for ice cream and we went into this shop. First, the parking lot entrance was blocked by cars and there's another parking lot for the other restaurant next to it. Make sure to park at the right place. When we walked inside, there were few people waiting already, not many tables in there. The tables and chairs were dirty and the floor was sticky. Also, the smell of the restroom was strong too, don't suggest you dine in. I ordered Taro as the base, PB cup & red beans as the mix-ins, and mochi & orea as the toppings. It's pretty fun for the workers to do it in front of you. However, the waiting was so long. They didn't do the orders I sequence. I got my order first while my friend ordered it before me. The red bean flavor was good and strong, didn't taste like any PB cup. Overall, this is fun to try.

My first time trying rolled ice cream. It was good. It was really fun to watch them make it. The atmosphere of this place is really cute.

Mango 24 oz. Galaxy Drink and Taro Milk tea

I randomly searched up 'boba' in Yelp and this place was the first place that popped up, so I decided to check it out as I met my friend at this location. It's located on S State St in Central City. There's a small parking lot on the side of the shop which I missed when looking for parking. There's also paid street parking right in front. I got the Mango Galaxy drink and forgot to ask to adjust the sweetness level (dang it). The drink came out looking beautiful! It was a red color on top transitioning to an orange color in the bottom. I mixed the drink and took a sip. Super sweet but delicious! It was pure syrup rather than real fruits which also enhanced the sweetness. My friend got the taro milk tea and definitely another sweet drink with a strong syrupy taste. He was just eh about his drink. The drink was relatively expensive compared to other places. If you don't mind syrupy drinks, their Galaxy series are pretty refreshing and delicious! They also offer rolled ice cream on a hot day.

Food: This rolled ice cream is legit! Wow! It has to be when they mix it up together, something about that process just makes the ice cream taste better...? The mint is my favorite, and it wasn't overpowering either. Might have just been me, but it didn't seem too crazy sweet either... which made it balance out the dinner we had beforehand. Atmosphere: So... the place needs a little TLC. I mean, the food is hip, so make the inside hip as well, yes? Get some nice seats, decorations, don't let me be able to see the back room from where I am sitting. Price: Pretty standard (for todays prices) about 10$ for some good, custom ice cream. I think it was worth the price though and very well prepared. Service: No complaints, the girl that helped us was nice and attentive. Overall: I think there is a lot of potential for this place, they just need to be able to showcase it a little more. Food is solid, if I am ever in the area again, I will stop by to see what they have done to improve the atmosphere and maybe send than that last star. Cheers!

Strawberry smoothie, and two galaxy drinks.

My kids ordered two different Galaxy drinks with traditional boba. One lemon, and one green apple. Tasty drinks as expected. The drinks were each $5.75 + $1 for the boba. The third is a strawberry smoothie with strawberry popping pearls. Yummmm!!! We plan to come back another time to try their rolled ice cream. They have lots of options to choose from. Based on what I saw the other customers enjoying, I definitely will be back! The facility was very clean, and the employee was wearing a mask + gloves. Social distancing encouraged, too.

To me, Koi D is similar to an overpriced Coldstone, where the ice cream is rolled instead of scooped. Ice cream here starts at $6 per bowl, with "premium" flavors (which is basically anything other than a chocolate or vanilla base) costing $1, and certain toppings also costing $1. Flavors here are unique, and for the most party, fruity. Banana, lychee, passion fruit, honeydew, and papaya are just a few unique flavors that grace their ice cream menu. Koi D offers boba drinks and smoothies as well, though I can't speak for either drink because I didn't order one. As a sweet tooth who's seemingly always craving a good treat, I wouldn't come here again. There are other ice cream places I'd like to try and favorites on my list that I'd rather visit instead.

My son and I were looking for ice cream while in town. So he found this place and we made a stop while checking out a few other sites downtown. The selection of ice cream, mix-ins, and toppings is crazy. Tons of choices and endless combinations. Watching the workers take the liquid ice cream pour it out on the cold plate and start working it was entertaining. The ice cream was creamy and very flavorful. The quantity was large as well. The Pb was a little weak but the mint was not! Service was fast and friendly, just kind of weird sitting inside at the few tables they do have and having supplies stacked up around the counter and walls. We decided to eat in the car because it just felt like you were sitting in a janitor's closet. The place is small so I am sure space is limited but there has to be a better option for storage. The ice cream is definitely worth the visit and if I am back in town I will give it a try again.

    Dream Date

Craving dessert so decided to come here being how it is one of the last few places open on a Sunday night. We had about an hour left till the place closed and made it in time with a party of four in front of us. I have had rolled icecream in the Bay Area and was pretty stoked to see one here in Utah. The menu at this location was pretty mediocre and nothing really caught the eye, but we went and ordered the dream date, which is a vanilla-based ice cream with some Oreos and chocolate mixed in. This pretty much tasted like cookies and cream, which I don't really mind. However, I am giving this place two stars because of the quality and service I received/witnessed. The rolled icecream was not comparable to the other locations I have been at. The texture was too icy making it dry and not creamy. It did not have a smooth texture to make it the taste pleasant or sit on your tongue. The chocolate chips were also very old and definitely noticeable. As for the service, the cashier/owner (I am assuming) looked annoyed when my friend and I were taking our time to order. Not sure if she was already frustrated to begin with or what, but she gave an annoyed look and I am pretty sure I saw her roll her eyes. She also was very rude to the young man who was working/making the rolled icecream. She gave him attitude and just didn't treat him as how one should be treated. It was a few minutes passed closing time, I received my order probably like 10 minutes before due to the LONG wait time, and eventually we were asked to leave. I usually don't mind as I completely understand, however, she did not ask us in a polite manner. Also, the place was VERY dirty and they didn't clean the tables or anything at the very end when they closed and locked the doors. This makes me question how the place runs overall.

    Heather H.

Wasn't a fan. The ice cream is overrated, and their customer service was not good at all. Will not be back.

Honeydew slush with boba and honey dew ice cream
    Andrew L.

Boba and ice cream are pretty easy to do, so it's hard to give it 4 stars, but compared to some of the other places I've been to, it's been better, so I gave it 4 stars. The menu is pretty varied, so plenty of options for everyone in your group. We didn't have to wait long for out order as well, which was nice. The ice cream was smooth and had a great flavor, and the boba weren't too hard. Plus they're open late!

My husband got the chicken and waffles, and I got the Ricky burger with fries. We also got the waffle monster to share. My husband really liked his chicken and waffle. The presentation was adorable. Their fruit-shaped creations are little works of art--so realistic it almost feels wrong to eat them... almost. Each pastry is fresh, light, and packed with flavor. The pistachio was incredibly tasty, though definitely on the richer side, so it's one you might want to savor slowly. The raspberry had a beautifully balanced sweetness with a vibrant, delicious filling. The lemon was very zingy--almost intensely so--but still delightful if you enjoy bold citrus flavors (just maybe not an entire one in a single sitting). The standout, though, was the mango. Easily the winner. It had such a bright, powerful flavor, and the fresh mango inside made every bite feel special. Everything about it--from taste to presentation--was just beautiful. The only slight letdown was the macarons. While still good, they didn't quite match the intensity and uniqueness of the pastries and felt a bit underwhelming in comparison. Overall, this place is a must-visit if you appreciate creative, high-quality desserts. It's clear a lot of skill and care goes into every piece. I loved the building that the pastry shop was in, as it had a "lunch room" feel to it. There are a few restaurants inside so there are options and there's plenty of seating.

I thought it sounded yummy since I enjoy matcha and ube. So I checked it out today for a post-lunch dessert. I really enjoyed it and definitely plan on returning to try some of their other offerings. Today I ordered the matcha ube shaved ice and the cherry blossom latte (I had them make mine using coconut milk). I ate the shaved ice at the cafe and took the cherry blossom latte to go because I wanted to drink it later. They put it in a cute bag! Since it was my first visit there I wanted to try the ube and matcha separately, so for the shaved ice I ordered matcha shaved ice on the bottom, followed by the matcha soft serve and then the ube soft serve on top of that. Next time I order the shaved ice, I think I will most likely have the matcha shaved ice with the matcha/ube twist soft serve on top now that I know how each one tastes on their own. I also would do matcha shaved ice with just the ube soft serve on top. Or maybe ube shaved ice with matcha soft serve on top. The matcha was tasty, and like other reviewers have said, you can tell it's good quality matcha. I really enjoyed the ube, it was very yummy to me. I think for my next visit I'm going to try the ube parfait. The cherry blossom latte was good. I got the sweetened version (it was lightly sweetened not super sweet, which I liked). I didn't want something super sweet. It didn't/doesn't have matcha in it. That was fine with me because I wanted to save it for later and didn't want to have caffeine later in the day. I do think it would taste good with matcha in it though. Overall I enjoyed this cafe. I look forward to trying more items. As of right now the other things I want to try are the ube parfait, the shaved ice again, the warabimochi, the hojicha yuzu latte, and the strawberry matcha latte. If you like matcha and/or ube, I would definitely recommend checking out Matcha Café Kyoto. I know I will be again. Support a local business so that they are able to stay around for us to enjoy.

She then asked if I'd like cream with it, I had asked if she suggested it and she responds with "well everyone gets it with creamer". Ok so I agreed to try it out. Why not cause everyone gets it with creamer right? I waited about 10 mins, which isn't bad considering the amount of people. She called my name and had 3 other drinks with her. I asked her if the one she was handing me was with oatmilk , and she says "well that's what you ordered right" I tried it and it wasn't oatmilk. I brought it up to her attention and she kinda just said "sorry" and that was all....unfortunately, I can't say it was the best service. If I decide to come back next time, I'll only get straight matcha instead of a latte just to try again. The matcha didn't have a strong taste to it. It was on the watery side. There's a craft counter, a chocolate counter, and an ice cream counter, and no clear lines or what not. At first glance, it's not immediately obvious where to focus your attention, so I went with the ice cream for here and took the chocolates walking. The owner was out on the floor chatting with customers, which gave the place a welcoming and local feel. It was nice. A few times I hovered close to him and tried to find an opening to ask him some questions about the products, but he was busy with other guests. As for the history of the business, there are enough newspaper clippings and articles on the walls to keep anyone occupied while waiting. Most of the staff appeared to be high school- or younger college-aged employees handling the day-to-day operations. The ice cream isn't made in-house (it's Farr's brand), so this review is more about the experience than the product itself. The serving size was fair, and I opted for the spumoni. Yes, really, spumoni. Three other people in our group between their twenties and forties had never even heard of the flavor before. The ice cream is scooped from a mixed single barrel rather than barrel with separated sections, so the chocolate, pistachio, and cherry had blended together. It was kind of like putting different sodas into the same cup. While I enjoy ice cream and these flavors, others might not think the same. The standout items for me were the chocolates. The bourbon chocolate came with a huge flavor punch. It was rich, bold, and intense enough that I needed a break and a glass of water afterward. It's not for the faint of heart and you need to be serious about chocolates to have an appreciation for this one. The marzipan, on the other hand, was a perfect follow-up. Not to sweet, balanced, and a very nice almond flavor. It was delicious and served as a nice palate refresher after the bourbon's performance. Between the chocolates and the owner's visible presence this was an enjoyable stop. The chocolates were easily the stars of the visit and worth it if you're in the area.
