My wife took my three kids there this morning and had the worst experience ever. We are a military family and do not have family in the area so she took all 3 of our kids in after taking the day off. They all had to be sedated for different reasons, which they charge $300 for and will tell you no insurance pays for the conscious sedation. Our middle child was struggling to calm down and because they were trying to keep their schedule they had to abort my son's procedure and we were still charged the $300 sedation fee for him. My wife says the dental assistant was very rude and only one staff member was apologetic. Dr. Knoell diagnosed my 2 year old son with an enamel defect causing cavities and immediately recommended surgery at a "brand new surgery center" that he even mentioned he has financial stake in (!!!! major red flag) When I asked if it would be at all possible for me or my husband to be with my son while he was in surgery, Dr. Knoell actually LAUGHED - and said "Don't even ask that question." He really stressed urgency, and that my son's four teeth may die before we get him into surgery. He kept saying there was nothing he could do, except major surgery under general anesthesia. I left devastated. I was in a panic all day, frantically calling other dental surgeons to try and get on their waiting list for surgery just in case we can be seen sooner elsewhere. I connected with a practice in Columbia which he had recommended and they saw my son that day. After an in depth examination including x rays (which Dr Knoell did not suggest or recommend at any point!!) the dentist at this practice concluded that my son has no cavities at all, and instead has staining from an iron multivitamin he takes daily. I actually sobbed with relief. It is egregious that Dr. Knoell would neglect to confirm whether or not my son actually had cavities or truly a need for significant dental surgery requiring IV sedation. He was so quick to recommend the surgery and stress the urgency, but then also said he had no idea if he would get him in before the teeth die. This is gross negligence on his part. I will not be returning to this office and will certainly never recommend it. I would hate for other families to be pressured into unnecessary surgery on their small children purely because this man has financial stake in a new surgery center. Lousy customer service. Made an appt for my mom 2 weeks ahead for July 3 and they called me 3 times the day before and twice the morning of to change the appt so they could leave early for the Independence Day holiday. I told them each time that she could not come in earlier that day, she's 80, and in assisted living. The second time they called me the morning of, the woman rudely talked over me, made excuses for why the appt should never have been scheduled, and offered no apology. I finally canceled and said we'd find another dentist. Awful! read more

PARENTS, HAVE CAUTION: We have been a customer for several years now and I have always been extremely happy with the service here until yesterday. We have always chosen to come here, because my youngest feels safe. They do not take my insurance so we have ALWAYS paid the same day, and paid at the end of service. My daughter old who was incredibly nervous / scared had to have a tooth filled. We arrived on time and I was asked for payment. I explained her father was going to pay for it. When he arrived there was an issue with his card so he left to get cash, I stayed in the waiting room with our daughter. After 15 minutes past her appointment and a bunch of ladies sitting and gossiping in the reception window, I finally went up and asked if they were waiting on payment BEFORE they took my daughter back ( she was getting more scared with the delay). They said yes,... I said.. well why didn't you tell me prior. The one lady said it's policy.. and I said you all have never asked for payment upfront ( the bill was only 200.00, a little more than a normal cleaning). When we finally got back to the room the same lady who told me it was policy handed me a form that she wanted me to initial and sign, that said amongst other things, that 1) I would not speak to my child anytime during the procedure. 2) I wouldn't touch my Childs hand or foot, 3) I would not be on my cell phone 4) I would leave the room if asked... and several other things. NEVER in 20 years of being a parent, nor 50 years of going to Dentist have I ever been asked to sign such a paper. I Refused to initial their 5 or 6 points. The women told me I had to .. and I said I do not. Now.. I get why a form like this may seem like a good idea for them, but it is Disempowering as a parent, it's condescending, and ultimately regardless of that form, if someone wants to speak to their child... THEIR child going to regardless of such a chastising form. I have no problem with the dentist and the hygienist, they did great but the entire office could use some retooling in customer service and a review of their policies towards parents. They see my wife and I both, as well as my son and they've been great. They even helped out my dad (who didn't have insurance) with an emergency when he was visiting from Oregon. All's well that ends well, which is why am not giving this dental practice a single star. I chose to have a cleaning done for myself in hopes that the experience would be good enough to send my daughter when it came time for her to get her teeth checked. I sure am glad I tried it out before she did! My exam led to the dentist convincing me I needed a crown instead of a large filling on a tooth that I wasn't even experiencing pain with. When she went to give the anesthetic, she injected my jaw four different times and still was unable to get it numb enough to start the procedure. I ended up having nerve damage on that area of my face for nearly 3 months! I decided to have the procedure completed by a dentist at one of their other locations, which was significantly better... But still not a perfect experience since it was an inconvenient location for me and I had to endure several visits before finally completing the procedure. read more

This is my family's forever dental practice! We have seen Snodgrass and King for the last 13 years, starting with me as an engaged woman looking to straighten and whiten my teeth before my wedding. Now 12 years later we bring our two girls here. My youngest is in a habit appliance for thumb sucking and is seen by the best team of dentists and staff. After our last hygiene visit we came back to see Dr. Grace for the sedation portion of our visit, since she is 4. Then Dr Jason for ortho. I know what you're thinking, what the heck am I doing putting my 4 year old in a habit appliance... but this was a new thing she had started to do, learned from a friend, and I wanted to stop it before it started affecting her palate. All of this I was educated on at our recall visit when seeing the Doctors. They were all beyond kind to my children both visits, but extra loving for my youngest daughter during her big appointment! I felt very special and cared for but was extra impressed at their efficiency for the sedation and appliance appointment, hence for my wordy review! Went here when I was 11, Dr. Snodgrass would not listen to my mother about how the drugs wouldn't work for pain or relaxation. I was forcefully strapped down and he forced my mouth open and shoved a tool in that would keep my mouth open. No shots to numb the area, he pulled two teeth out and left part of one in. I had to go to another dentist to get it pulled out, who was very kind and talked to me until the medicine made me fall asleep. I don't know how this evil man is still in business. I was not the only child this happened to, there's been a few more. Thanks to this man, I haven't been to another dentist in 8 years and I have a complete phobia of dentists and having my mouth touched. I also feel like I need to add, that now anything that sounds like a causes me panic attacks. I beg you not to take your child here. Please. I don't know if they allow parents back there now. But don't ever trust a place that will not allow parents back with the child. I do not want to see another child suffer like I did. read more

I'm on my second child receiving braces at this location; likewise, both have their general dentistry/cleanings done here, as well. I'm writing in response of the first review, as my experience has been the antithesis of that review 1. If I was remotely dissatisfied with this location, I wouldn't have forked up more money for the second child. 2. In terms of Ortho, my first son enjoyed (as much as a kid can enjoy) his experience. He also got out of his braces ahead of schedule. The follow up treatments (retainer checks) have been great and they reinforce things that a teen needs to hear regarding maintenance. 3. My second son didn't begin necessarily as Snaggle-tooth, but he definitely needed 4 teeth pulled, more work done, etc. He doesn't dread coming and enjoys the atmosphere. 4. I've appreciated the conversations with Doc Jason. He has pulled me aside, shared with me personally the progressions and any concerns he may have. Likewise, I asked him for a 2nd opinion/consult from an out-of-town confidant/orthodontist and he happily did so...without feeling threatened 5. In terms of dentistry, Molly has been solid from the start. My boys don't dread the dentist the way I used to. 6. Personally, my billing has been smooth. I recognize things can happen, but my Ortho was straight forward (different prices for both boys due to complexities) with price based on how I paid. I implore of parents not to use this office. It was a terrible experience from beginning until I moved my child a few months away from finishing treatment to a new orthodontist. There were billing issues (eventually resolved after spending way too much time on them), lots of staff turnover, and the final straw when they left my child with a man who had been out of community college for two weeks. When I called to complain about him hurting her and his overall inability to do his job , the office manager literally told me it was too bad, he has to learn. I don't expect to pay thousands of dollars for my child to be an experiment for an unsupervised student. There are too many other good places to take your child, this one is only interested in taking your money and is not interested in your child's comfort or well being. read more

I was very disgusted by the communication and the lack of knowledge that was shared about the options. It was a short and not so sweet visit. My husband was given two options, They can either put a needle in his mouth and try to keep him calm... But it will be very traumatizing or Go to the hospital and sedate. No other option were provided and after that the dentist moved on to the next victim. And as caring parents of the two options described we agreed the less traumatizing option was the best. Oh but to make even an appointment for the hospital sedation it's $500 upfront, but they don't say that when they are talking about you options. Doing my own research there are other options CHEAPER options that will not Traumatize my son. Often, pharmcologic methods are necessary to comfortably accomplish treatment. The most common is Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas. It is a fairly benign easy way to help the child. Often additional medications are needed to help kids to be comfortable and cooperate to accomplish treatment. Sometimes it is even necessary to do treatment under General Anesthesia in the Hospital. Many times, however, the hospital is not an option due to lack of insurance coverage, limited treatment needs, or parental preference. The option of in-office Conscious Sedation has been a good option to help kids and parents. But was that even an option? NO, these nickel and dime dirty dentist don't have any interest except their own pocket getting fatter! read more
