It was one of those annoying ones where It only affects a small area - in my case it was one side of a block. I've dealt with this while living back east and luckily when it happened then it was summer. Even went outside and chatted with neighbor in a nearby apartment dealing with it. When it happens in the summer, at least you can go outside and do stuff. The night this happened we were expecting guests and were cooking. This of course had to be cancelled. So, for about 6 hours with some candles, it went on, finally being restored at about 9pm or so. The information via calling the update line was pretty accurate so that is appreciated and checking the outage map was too. So Seattle City Light. Source of our everyday power. You're alright, except for powering off our party.

I approached several plumbers and Full Bore, Inc. for bids. The bids from the plumbers all used the same sub-contractor and were substantially higher than the bid from Full Bore. Before green-lighting the project, I phoned the references of the owner, Cesar Lara, and sat down with him for about an hour to talk about how he would approach the project. During that meeting, I came to understand the depth of Cesar's knowledge of his profession and his dedication to doing a good job. This impression was borne out in practice. His crew has worked together for years and obviously know what they're doing. They hit no utility lines. Several neighbors commented on their professionalism. A project of this size always runs into wrinkles, and that, I think is the best test of the people you're working with. Cesar responded to each unforeseen circumstance quickly and with honesty and integrity. He approached me for extra money only when the city extended the area require to be re-cemented, something we had already agreed would be an add-on. After the fact, I learned that Cesar installed a higher quality pipe than my other bids called for. All in all, I would chose Full Bore again even without the incentive of a lower price.

CCUD staff are friendly and helpful and they maintain the system to a very high standard. We pay quite a bit for that service, though, with sewer charges running especially high (and dinging them a star).
