Lodi Parade of Lights 12/05/2025…read more What a fun, festive & freezing experience. This was my first year bringing my daughter out. Now I know the do's & don'ts! We didn't get to Lodi until 615, this event starts 6:17pm. So we missed the first 25 mins or so (if it started on time) 25 mins driving looking for parking and driving in traffic, but the streets were packed. Just when I was ready to give up, I decide to circle back and found a space 1 block away! It was such a cool experience. Everyone out sitting on their lawn chairs, on the back of their trucks, standing. It was nice seeing the community all come out together. The light show was so creative. Snow falling from the trucks, Christmas music playing. Basically an advertisement for business, schools, etc. You know it's the end of the show when you see the fire truck with Santa & Mrs Claus on the back. Next year I know to come a couple hours or so early to get a good parking, bring a couple lawn chairs and maybe even a throw blanket! I'll also come with my hot chocolate already in hand. I can't wait to see what next year brings!

A local Holiday tradition by the City of Lodi that the whole family can enjoy!…read more Think of it as a cross between Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade and a normal small city parade. 60 or so floats put together with hundreds of Christmas lights going through the streets of Downtown Lodi! This year they even changed the start time to 6:17pm, just to make sure everyone would remember what time it starts. Only in Lodi...its what makes this town so cute. :0)

A simple work of art easily overlooked by pedestrians. But I enjoyed the playful depictions of musical symbols, sea creatures, and whimsical shapes and figures galore.

There were plenty of vehicles and vessels presented by the Antique and Classic Boat Society, and several car and boat owners we were able to chat with while admiring the lovely displays. Among the various vehicles being showcased, a beautiful green 1959 volkswagen bus stood out to me. And free boat rides were given, so we went sailing on the San Joaquin River, enjoying the cool breeze on the water and learning about the art of sailing while riding a 38ft cruising keelboat. We also grubbed on some snacks while there, delicious steak nachos from El Comal food truck and a cup of seasoned watermelon from the fruit stand. Other food and drink vendors on site included a bbq booth selling yummy tri tip, pizza from Paul's Rustic Oven, a mobile coffee kitchen, and an adorable little snack shack. There were shaded tables and seating on two levels, clean restrooms (with showers) in the Stockton Sailing Club building, and live music to keep us entertained and in good spirits, the band playing classic hits like Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl, Tennessee Whiskey, Wagon Wheel, Hurts So Good, and of course, fitting with the theme, Sailing by Christopher Cross.

Boggs Tract is a community farm that is helping make America great again by bringing a diverse…read moregroup of people together to be sustainable, healthy, and inclusive. Tracts can be rented for a small monthly fee by anyone who is interested. Ellen Powell is the volunteer coordinator. If you rent a plot you will have to volunteer for four hours a month. Volunteering is a wonderful way to learn about gardening and healthy eating. The monthly fee includes compost and water for your plot. There is also a chicken farm here as well. There is ample parking out front. BUFA (Black Urban Farmer's Association) helps to organize the community farm. This is led by the talented and friendly Ines Aldridge and her husband Almas (aka Al). You can find them riding on tractors or planting seeds. They are always ready to offer advice. There are classes every month on the third Sunday of the month at 11:30am. These are open to the public and are free. The list of the classes are listed online. They are run by Shane of Fiery Ginger Farm up in Sacramento. Some of the things we have grown in our little plot include okra, watermelons, melons, tomatoes, Armenian cucumbers, grapes, and eggplants. There is ample parking in front. Getting here is a bit tricky due to road construction. Stockton is ripe for resurgence and rejuvenation. Boggs tract farm is leading the way!

Friendly people who give classes on site from anything from tree planting, basic gardening, to chicken care. I took in some instruction on chicken care today from Patricia Miller. It was very informative. Thanks Patricia!! I even got a tour of the henhouse full of Rhode Island Reds! Farm to fork!!! This place is a true Stockton gem!!
