Safety instructions were very good. The water was choppy and it was very difficult to climb up the ladder onto the boat. There was no one from the crew to help. No one to take your fins so you have to hold onto the fins and hoist yourself out of the water. Also staff really pushed for tips. It was uncomfortable. Pictures were too expensive. You were not able to buy just a few. You had to buy all of them. Including pictures of other people. read more

We went on the Snuba last week - it was a good experience. The crew was great. The Captain was Sargon and our guide was Molly. I forgot the photographers name, but he was from Georgia and was very nice and helpful. We were told we would not have to pay for parking, but they changed the location of the Marina at the last minute and parking was charged. We were also told we were going to a great spot no one else would be at. When we arrived at the spot where we would get off the boat I heard a few of the crew members complain that the Captain changed his mind and we were at a place with at least 5 other boats and A LOT of people snorkeling. As someone else mentioned they should separate the newbies from the more experienced. My mask kept filling up with water and I started to 'freak' out a bit I was not comfortable to dive down and I thought I was holding my group up. Also when I tried to go down the air tubes would get tangled and the raft would go over top of me - that was kind of scary. I heard more than once from others on the boat as soon as you get comfortable, then it was time to go back to the boat. They played great music except for a song that was dropping F BOMBS - not very professional as it was not professional to see the Captain drive the boat with his feet. Would I do this again...not sure. I think I would get comfortable with Snorkeling first, them maybe try again. read more

While vacationing in Key West, my fiance thought it would be fun to do this. I agree. At first I was intrigued by Snuba. A combination of SCUBA and snorkeling. A fun concept I guess. Once you actually do it, it's fun no more. Don't get me wrong, the people running it where awesome. I couldn't have asked for better instructors. The cost was an acceptable $99 per person. It's about a 3 hr ordeal. Most of which is getting acclimated with rules. Once we were out in the water we were left disappointed. Our oxygen line kept getting tangled. Our equipment was not working well. After struggling to make it work for 30+ mins it was fruitless. We swam back to the main boat and we were left disappointed in not being able to witness underwater life. I'm sure if everything was working at all cylinders it would have been a great time. Positives: very nice crew, decent price for an underwater experience, opportunity to view nature up close Cons: not recommended for anyone with scuba experience. Having done both, I actually think scuba diving is easier! My dad and I struggled to remain free of the lines and also stay underwater. (Our guide did give me extra weight to help buoy me down). It is set up to be a series of 3 small rafts that hold your oxygen tanks. There are 2 people assigned to each raft. The problem with this system is that the people in the second and third raft end up getting tangled in the lines, meaning they can only go under water a few feet in any direction. Also, and most importantly, the dive site is not particularly nice. You dive on an unprotected reef, so it is not very exciting to look at. We also had an overcast day, which didn't help for visibility. Overall: if you don't want to hassle with scuba training but want to get the experience for a reasonable cost, this is a good option! For those, with any scuba experience or for those who may have snorkeled in exotic locales, this may disappointing! read more

This charter is a blast!! The staff make you feel at ease - they make sure everything goes smoothly from training & equipping to the incredible underwater experience. Snuba is a great way to get really close to the reef and marine life! We were taken to the Sand Key lighthouse on our tour - not sure if they go to other spots. The boat has a small bathroom and fresh water shower/rinse. The staff also provide water and soda to keep you hydrated and snacks for the return trip. You can really tell that safety is their #1 priority. Highly recommended!! read more

This was fun! We were all newbies to SNUBA, so our instructor, Martin, was very patient while each of us got accustomed to breathing underwater. Although you don't have to be SCUBA certified it made me realize I'd like to get SCUBA certified, so I can be free of the tubes and the raft. Like the other reviewers mentioned, you only get about 45 min-1 hr of underwater time, but the view on the boat ride out was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a great time here during our vacation! The water was really clear and it was warm, but they offer free wetsuits too for colder days. We saw all different types of beautiful fish and coral. The instructor, CJ, was very thorough and we felt safe with him as our guide! The whole crew was very fun and welcoming, especially the captain, Zachary. This was an unfortunate tour. 3 of the 4 working the tour seemed shy or grumpy. With the exception of Matt, who was personable & professional. He gets the stars. We were paired w/ a woman who had not SNUBA & her young 10 yr old niece who also had never SNUBA. This kept us "hostaged" so to speak, since both took their weight belts off & really never did anything more than Snorkel. Our tank was on same raft as theirs. The guides should have split us from the newbees at that point. Give them their own tank to use at the surface. We didn't see many fish or a reef but only a flat area w/ rocks & sea fans. It was sad to see how bad the coral has been treated here compared to other parts of the world. I had expected lots of fish & colors. It was extremely disappointing. The "captain" of the ship was off putting. He didn't smile, didn't interact with any of the passengers. Once he told us the rules he just clammed up. He seemed lazy especially when driving the boat w/ his feet. Pictures were bad, evidently current made it difficult to take pictures. We were told that there were other places to go but they were crowded to go to. I recommend finding a nice reef instead of a lifeless grey desert. read more

This is a really great idea and we had fun but I'm not sure I would pay this amount of money for the experience ever again. First off, our instructer went through everything very fast... the other instructer who appeared to be in charge more, we eavesdropled on them and he gave all sorts of advice that we didn't get. He was patient but you could tell he was getting annoyed by all the questions. I also found that we could see most of the same stuff by snorkeling the area the only difference is not touching. If your goal is to see beautiful reefs and colorful fish in crystal clear water... then definitely skip this excursion. The boat takes off from the cruise dock. That should have been our first clue that the trip would be jam packed with slobby cruisers. Although cramped for space, you're heading out into the keys. It must be beautiful right?! Well, you head straight from the dock until you hit the water waste management plant. Not pretty yet... You go straight until you hit the trailer park. Still not pretty.... this is where we stopped for the activity. Maybe the water will hold some magic?? Nope. Cloudy, murky with few fish in sight. If you've never snorkeled or tried snuba maybe you'll be ok with this excursion for that experience alone, but it definitely was a disappointment to me. read more

SNUBA is so much fun! The staff was very friendly, courteous, and extremely helpful. I use a wheelchair to get around and that usually scares or confuses most people. This was not the case with Key West SNUBA. Tony came out to meet me and discuss how they would help me. I had a strong friend with me, but the guys who work there were happy to help. Joe Butler is seriously the best. Actually, every single person in the staff is the best. This was the first time I ever did snuba, and I was terrified at first. I could barely go underwater without hyperventilating. Joe reassured me and helped me every step of the way. 15 minutes later, I was so comfortable and was swimming in the reef. SO much fun! Captain Zach and Dive Instructor Katelyn made this a 5 star experience for parents with tweens. This is really the only way to try scuba diving without getting dive certified. It was a fun and efficient introduction to scuba for the whole family. The dive site was very calm and not too deep. It also doesn't take too long to get to. Captain Zach was knowledgeable and entertaining. The instruction was very good and Instructor Katelyn made everyone feel comfortable and confident enough to enjoy the whole experience. Great experience! We loved our first snuba experience. It doesn't take any special training, just 15 min of instruction and then under the sea you go! It was very cool to experience snorkeling but WAY better cause you stay underwater the whole time. You get to see beautiful fish and coral reefs up close. For $99 you are out for about 2 1/2 hours. You actually go underwater for about 45 min / 1 hour. I would have liked to stay under for a lot longer!! Highly recommend you try this out. read more

He made sure to take care of my 13 year old and didn't seclude her when she couldn't comfortably get under the water. He made sure that she enjoyed the experience too and she loved it.
