Apparently, there was a school of tuna close by, and the whales were feeding on them below the water according to the shipmates. Now, that isn't exactly something within their control, and it's not like I was expecting the whales and/or dolphins to pose for pictures. Nonetheless, I was hoping for a little better of an experience. It's about a 4.5-hour experience with about 45 minutes of actual whale watching and the rest of the time spent getting to the spot and back. You can't really here anything the captain is saying unless your directly under the speaker. The trip could be a little better if they played some music on the way and back, but again, you wouldn't be able to really hear it that good. Having said all that, all staff encountered were pleasant and friendly and it was a pleasant ride to and from. Overall I would say it probably wasn't worth the price ($70). If I had seen more whales/dolphins I'd probably feel different. And again, I realize it's not something they can control, but it does have to factor into the rating.

The other thing I really liked about this boat was that he has 2 fighting chairs, which came in handy as we frequently had 2 people fighting fish at one time. Great fishing can make any captain look good, but what impressed me the most about Capt. Rich was how he reacted when things started to slow down. Whether it was changing rigs or changing spots, you could always tell that the captain was hard at work to keep us in the fish, something he was very successful at. This was my first time out on the Drifter but it certainly won't be my last. If you're looking for the perfect fishing boat and a captain who knows how to keep his clients' lines tight, I highly recommend you give the Drifter a look.

The captain was kind enough to give us some history of the structures around the area. The charter had a bathroom which was a huge plus! The boat was roomy and comfortable even with four people on the boat. I personally took advantage of the seating in the back. We brought our own drinks and food. I definitely recommend bringing your own cooler for personal snacks and drinks. We did the six hour charter and I don't think I've ever caught that many fish in my life. Due to the storm that happened prior to our charter, we mainly focused on Tautog and Black Sea Bass. The captain found a beautiful spot for us to anchor down and set up all of our poles for us. The captain also got the baits prepared for us and had them ready when we needed more bait. My brother and fiancé caught a handful of slot sized Tautog and Black Sea Bass. The captain was kind enough to show us how to filet them when we got back to the dock. Overall, I highly recommend the Pamela May. The captain was great company and we will definitely be booking future charters with him.

From the second we arrived at the dock, Charlie made my friend and I feel completely at ease. One of my favorite things about him is that you can tell from the minute you start talking to him that he's not out to exploit the sharks in any way. After tagging over 2,600 sharks, Charlie really just wants to share his knowledge with you and provide a deeper understanding of these animals. His heart is completely in the right place, and he is amazingly authentic and kind. And as for the actual shark-diving experience, it was genuinely one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life. We had EIGHT sharks around us total, and after a while, they came right up to us! I was nervous at first getting into the water, but after a while, you realize that the sharks are just more curious than anything and far more interested in the fish we were giving them. I could have stayed in the water ALL DAY. I would go back again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Charlie, for your kindness, patience, and natural teaching ability.
