This place was wonderful for my kids. Went and paid Lane all set up for us. Bumpers went up when my kids were bowling and came down when I was bowling. I barely had to do anything. All I hit was the service button and it was all set. Then we went and got our cards. Played a few video games and got something to eat at the diner. Food was great. Service was awesome. I love Old Mountain Lanes. My family love to eat here and the staff is always so nice. They have two different sections to eat at: the coffee shop side and Camden's side. Both are awesome. We bowl from time to time, this bowling alley, is the closest to my mother-in-law place, so we have been a few times. Old Mountain Lanes is a 24-lane modern bowling center, opened in 1960. Prior to the 1950's, the "small ball game" commonly known as "duck pin" bowling was the rage in Rhode Island. The bowling "alleys" of that time were typically small smoke filled wood frame buildings housing 2-10 lanes, and serviced by "pin boys". By 1952 things began to change as the all new "automatic pinsetter" manufactured by companies such as Brunswick, Sherman, and AMF quickly ended the pin boy era. In 1973 some local investors, assumed control of the bowling alley. In 1977, a renovation included the addition of a restaurant/pub now known as Camden's, which we have also been several times. Camden's offers fresh local seafood, steaks, chicken, homemade soups, and a late night "good time". Their fish and chips are really good !!!! We came here for the arcade so I can't attest to the diner or the bowling. It seems the diner is very popular because I see people having their orders taken to the lanes for them to eat and bowl - nice! The arcade is a bummer. There is maybe 20 machines and a few are broken. The plus is that the machines take cards and "tickets" for the games goes back into the cards. The kiddos still enjoyed the games. If you're out of state, do not come here. We were visiting from out of state and we are all well over age (22-24) and had to wait for 15 mins while our IDs were checked with a state wide ID booklet from the 2000s that didn't have the new IDs we receive from our state so when we finally got served, the bartender threw the check at us and said "you're welcome" without giving us 2 of the drinks we ordered. We tried to be polite despite our frustration. We were all able to give more than one form of identification and it was still a long wait for 2 out of 4 beers that we ordered. I get that you have to check IDs but we had multiple forms and we were not even IDed for our first round of drinks. read more

My friend made a reservation for a lane. Upon arrival the staff acted extremely strange towards our group. First telling my friend his reservation didn't go through and then explaining they were just "testing to see if he was high by seeing if he realized they wouldn't know his name had the reservation actually not gone through." We were put in a lane with two groups on one side of us and another on the right side, so we asked to be moved down a lane or two where it was emptier, mostly because we weren't super comfortable with all the crowding during a pandemic. They didn't want to let us change lanes due to expecting more people later on, which I understood except we had made a reservation so I wasn't sure why we couldn't choose a lane. We also put up bumpers for one of my friends because it was her first time bowling. They came over to us to ask us to take the bumpers down, because they were for children 12 and under, but they weren't very nice about it. Instead of offering to give my friend a lighter pound bowling ball they told us to take the bumpers down because she would break them. Keep in mind this person is maybe 5 feet tall and 90 lbs, she was not throwing the ball with much force. Also the group to the left of us had a few adults and they weren't told to take their bumper down. Typically in other bowling alleys I've been to there are no issues with having the bumpers up no matter what age. read more

Scores started to climb up after he bestowed his wisdom, but see - Jiz took the damn game and it was close between him and Ass. Lady behind counter was very sweet. When I redeemed the one scratcher that won she asked me if Ass found his ball (see, incidentally that was the sole reason we were here on a Tuesday afternoon as Ass had presumably had too much beer the night before or had otherwise been too stoned to remember his found object beach ball bowling dynamite very cool looking heavy round thing...and left it behind here). Yup he did find it. Right away, in fact. There's a restaurant inside here too but now... I wouldn't care about a silly thing like THAT...now... would I? Bathing suit season is coming up. There should seriously be one of these in every town/city. Breakfast and bowling under one roof. The idea may sound dingy, but it's immaculately clean throughout, with great service from the waitstaff and the folks in the bowling alley section too. The blueberry pancakes were a slight disappointment. My friend said it best, "Instead of three pancakes and so few blueberries per pancake, they should just do two pancakes with the same about of blueberries." Great idea. Growing up Friday nights were for the roller rink, Saturdays were for bowling. This bowling alley has always been affordable, even as a teen. My mother always felt safe dropping me off here for a few hours. I'm not sure if that still stands but it was good ol' American fun. I have been back recently and not much has changed. I would say 8 times out of 10 we are beyond pleased.....the staff is great ....the ambiance....wonderful (sounds of bowling, people and an electric arcade...not to mention a social hour) ....the new cook cannot get my stuff right....over cooking to a science. Everything else is wonderful and in spite of well done burgers that should be rare and fish that is like a basketball....I love this place as a true American gem....no pretension, interesting people and almost always....great food. The Diner has the best eggs Benedict in town. Nicely portioned ham, it's not lunch meat and it's also not 8x the size of the English muffin. THEY KNOW HOW TO POACH AN EGG! More importantly, unlike most places who cook the yolk thoroughly on a poached egg because they are scared of cooking it properly, this place seems to understand that when someone orders a poached egg they want it cooked soft with a nice yolk. Well done. One critique that I have is that the door to the kitchen is the squeakiest goddamn high pitched noise ever and I could barely tolerate it to the point where I almost walked out. There is a "coffee shop" in Old Mountain Lanes, which is what this review is about. It's got a retro vibe to it, but it's not trying to be retro. It's just an old coffee shop. I took my two sons there recently for dinner - wife was out of town and I wasn't in a mr. mom mood. One very cool thing about the coffee shop is that they serve breakfast all day! I wish more places did this, as pancakes and bacon for dinner is just such a right thing. So the older kid gets Texas French toast (weird geographic thing there) and corned beef hash. His younger brother gets pancakes, an egg over, and bacon. I decide to go against the grain and order a dinner type meal - cheeseburger club. And you can get beer there too! The only really odd thing about the whole place was that we were literally the only three people under 65 years of age. Don't let that dissuade you, though. The waitresses were very nice and friendly, the food arrived pretty quickly, and all our orders were correct. They loved their breakfasts, and I had a couple bites of the hash, which was excellent. My cheeseburger club was good. It was exactly what it should have been, and tasted just the way you'd want. This isn't a fancy place, but for what it is, it's very good. Reasonable prices, good service, tasty food. It looks weird being inside a bowling alley and all, but I'll be going back for breakfast. Check it out if you're in the area. read more

I have been frequenting this place since I was born. I can say this....my mother worked here while pregnant with me. I am not even kidding a little bit. "Coffee Shop" has great waitstaff, food is always good, and on the inexpensive side. Breakfast is presented nicely & is quick! Please visit Camden's as well, they have 2 RESTAURANTS here! See my reviews.... The hardest part is trying to get out of there after eating with out letting the kids bowl a game! Or play the video games that are out "on the lanes' I did have "date night" with my 5 year old Friday & we bowled 2 games. $24 total for 2 game & shoe rentals for both of us. Great bowling at Old Mountain Lanes. The employees are friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable. They have accommodations for kid bowling, like bumpers and ramps. Plus they have many sizes for the bowling balls, including lighter ones for kids to easily use. The restaurant inside is a great place to grab breakfast. They also serve lunch and dinner, which I haven't checked out yet, but have heard great things. You wouldn't think a restaurant inside a bowling alley would have quality food, but this place is a surprising little hidden gem. Old Mountain Lanes also has pool tables and little small kid ride ons and video games. So if you ever find yourself waiting around, there's plenty to occupy. Although there are many lanes, so we have never had a wait. So if pool tables, small rides, a restaurant, and bowling wasn't enough, there's also a bar attached to this place. Such a fun place! A guy named Chris who works there is super friendly and fun. The drinks are incredibly cheap. You can order pitchers of beer up until 9:00pm. Their food is pretty good - typical snacky foods for the most part. They have specials. Thursday is my favorite night to go! The alley is renovated with a new game area. Okay, so we are clear, this review is NOT for the bowling but for "The Coffeehouse at Old Mountain Lanes." I kid you not. It's like walking into a coffee shop in Wisconsin (or rather, how I would imagine walking into a coffee shop in Wisconsin might be). AWESOME breakfast. A pretty big place with fantastic homemade food. The assortment of muffins changes every day and be sure to get it grilled. I had what I believe was the #7 which had 3 eggs, 2 pancakes, homefries and bacon. Heart-attack central but oh so good. And what's better than eating breakfast while listening to the sound of bowling balls crash into pins? Great indoor activity to do with kids during the hot summer months. They have a 'kids bowl for free' program during summer. Register online, pick up the card and 24 hours later your child can bowl for free (one game plus shoe rental, per day for the entire summer) Save the card at the end of the summer to reuse again next year. read more

Holy smokes. $40 to bowl for an hour? I wish I'd done some research in advance. It was too cold to walk the beach and look for sea glass with my friend's kids. I had to entertain them for the day and thought we could kill an hour before lunch at the bowling alley. One hour of bowling (1.25 games) + shoe rentals for me, a 6 year old and a 3 year old. Maybe there is a frequent pass? Maybe there are super saver hours? Maybe the price for one game is less expensive than paying for one hour? It was pretty empty there as the leagues had just finished. This place almost matches Walnut Hill Bowl! Very clean, I am always there for cosmic bowling, which is good for fun, but not good for serious bowlers. I love the fact that it is a Brunswick... just like all Brunswicks. The two reasons that I do not like it as much as Brunswick Walnut Hills is because 1.) OML has 24 lanes, Walnut Hill has 32 2.) OML does not have as nice of an approach, which sucks..., but hey... if that doesn't bother you, then come on down! read more

The restrooms are filthy and have gang graffiti in them, and if you come here on Thursday nights you'll have to deal with the infamous popular group from my school. It's so tempting to come here that day just to see what it's like, but it's hard to predict if it will be worth the risk or not. I got way too drunk here and ran out onto the lanes to get a stuck ball. The guy working didn't yell at me, escorted me off the lane so I wouldn't fall, and didn't even kick me out. We just attended a child's birthday party. The lanes were fine but the some of the staff was just plain RUDE. The girl responsible for tending to the party was obviously annoyed to be dealing with us. Never one word, just a frumpy face as she cleaned and broke down the table......as we were sitting there with drinks THAT WE BOUGHT AT THE BAR!!! CRAZY ATTITUDE!!! She clearly had somewhere better to be because we saw her leave before us. If the owners are lucky she will never return. One thing is for sure, we won't. read more
