WARNING: Do not do business with So Cal Fencing Solutions or Eric Martinez. Early November, Mr. Martinez baited us to contract with this business for a wrought iron fence to replace the wrought iron fence we have. Our HOA took a few weeks to approve the replacement. To our shock and dismay, today - Jan 23 - he delivered instead a flimsy aluminum fence. Then had the gall to tell us that he was actually doing us a favor, because the aluminum fence was more expensive however he would honor the price for wrought iron. Bait and switch is a morally suspect sales tactic that lures customers in with specific claims about the quality or low prices on items that turn out to be unavailable in order to upsell them on a similar, pricier item. It is considered a form of retail sales fraud and is illegal. We have insisted to speak with Owner Tony Brock, however have been told that Mr. Brock is simply "unavailable" with several different excuses being applied. We have demanded a return of our deposit, which we have yet to see. read more

We called multiple vinyl companies for bids as our home was in need of a new fence and decided to agree on SoCal Fencing Solutions as the sales rep Eric provided various options of materials in various price ranges. We opted for the high end material which was more expensive as the samples provided high durability to undergo harsh weather conditions and high wind. Eric also provided options as we wanted our dog to be able to see through the gate so we decided to have our door installed upside down so the dog could have a view. Now to discuss the work. Jorge and Hugo arrived on time as scheduled and began to work right away setting up post and completing the side fencing. They also set down cement and would return Monday in order to allow the cement to cure (other companies stated that this job could all be done in a day, but my concern was giving the cement time to cure this is why we went with SoCal Fencing Solutions). Jorge and Hugo returned Monday morning and installed the vinyl doors, locks and hardware. They both went way above and beyond with the entire job from Day 1 Saturday to Day 2 Monday. Jorge and I did the final walk through and he answered my questions. Hugo went above and beyond with additional work and details on the job. Hugo and Jorge are great employees with lots of knowledge and are efficient and detailed oriented. They worked to get the job done quickly, but also providing details and care with the work and care with the product the customer is paying for. The debris was hauled away and clean up was great. Around Dec of 21', I was part of a group purchase with 8 other neighbors in Irvine, mine being the largest in size thus cost in the group. Myself and another neighbor coordinated and worked with Rick, the sales person. Rick's response was fine throughout the sales process. However, he literally disappeared the day after the contract was signed. Questions around construction time, preparation work between brush cleaning and the crew went unanswered. Given we have multiple houses, which house will they start first, and build first...etc. went unanswered. At least 4+ weeks after signing, I heard from other neighbors the work has started with the new fence. I visited the house (a rental) to check on progress and noted some gaps between panels, and also on the bottom. The workers confirmed the gaps will be fixed, specifically the ones at the bottom of the fence at job completion. Again, multiple inquiries on job status went unanswered through Rick. Another month went by and I received a phone call from SoCal Fencing's office asking for payment as the job was complete. I visited the house and noted gaps at the bottom of the fence, some are quite big along with what appeared to be unfinished panels. I called the office asking for Rick or someone to address the problem, in addition to multiple emails to Rick. All my requests went unanswered. I also sent multiple pictures pointing out exactly where the issues were requesting for call back and no response. I was then put in touch with Tony through email, the owner, and expressed the issues I was having. Tony had a short response that he will look into it. Few weeks went by without any response from anyone, however, I get an irate phone message from Tony one day demanding payment to be made on that day. This is ~1 months into my multiple attempts in reaching out and trying to get someone to respond to no avail. Tony's voice message stated all issues were resolved however without details since he never responded to my inquiries, and he's just looking for payment immediately. ~3 months after contract signing and Rick's disappearance, he called me out of nowhere and said he is at the house (without prior permission) and does not see any of the problems that I raised (although I've sent pictures a month earlier). I offered to meet up in person so we can agree on problem, and it was declined by Rick. A week later, Tony called again asking for payment when I didn't hear back from anyone that the issue had been addressed. This went on for a few more weeks with me being the communications ping pong ball between Rick and Tony as it's obvious they aren't on the same page as regard to the status. Tony finally agreed to meet with me to look at the problems in person. He had a crew that came in right after and fixed all of the issues. All the problems were addressed in about an hour. All of the issues I raised took about an hour of work to address. This 1 hour of work took multiple weeks of aggravation, multiple rude, irate, and unreasonable demands for payment, and multiple rounds of communications gap to get here. If the job was done right the first time instead of the sloppiness left behind, we wouldn't have to go through the above process at all. Tony had many chances to correct the issue, unfortunately did not. He did end up correcting the problems and apologized, which I am giving him credit for although it was extremely painful to get to this point. The fence project went on for 4 months, and the final closeout took a nasty turn on a already stressful situation. For a $6k transaction, I thought SoCal Fencing should have demonstrated more care and attention to its customers. The pictures shown are some of the ones I shared with SoCal Fenece before they were fixed. These are the ones that I was repeatedly told as not an issue and what a normal complete job would look like. Buyers be aware. read more
