Mike's Fences Review The Mike's Fences crew did an amazing job installing our horizontal board Redwood fence and new gates. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Connor was prompt, friendly, took the time to explain their process, and answer questions during the estimate. Danielle (at the office) was a pleasure to work with. The crew were meticulous, thorough, and did very sharp work. They paid attention to certain details that I would not have thought to ask about. We were delighted! After they finished I asked four a couple touch-up items, and they didn't hesitate to come back out to fix them. Pro-tip to manage expectations: If you opt for an all-wood fence, you can expect them to start and finish quickly. If you opt for the metal framing (like we did) you should expect a two-stage process. Their metal frames take longer to fabricate, they're 100% custom, and they require careful measurements to get right the first time. Metal frames cost more, and we agree the extra investment was 100% worthwhile. I have two complaints, and they're nit-picky: 1. We installed metal frames for the gates and the fences. They told me the frames would be painted, and they were. I would have LOVED to have the option for anodizing or powder coating. 2. The attachment points are somewhat arbitrary. Future me is going to HATE replacing the boards on this fence in 10+ years because I already know I'm going to struggle to find pre-drilled holes in random places. We received a couple estimates for this project. Mike's Fences came in on the higher side, but we have no regrets hiring them. read more

Call Mike's Fence! My wood fence, where connected to my gate, was leaning causing it to not be able to be closed. I called three contractors in my area. Conner called me back within a few minutes. The others never returned my calls or emails. I texted him some pictures of the fence. He couldn't diagnose it by looking at the pictures. That was on a Friday. He was able to send a crew go out to my house in the afternoon on the following Tuesday to look at it. At that moment, they were able to fix the fence within a short period of time. I was elated. I was sure this was going to cost many hundreds of dollars or more to fix it. Conner just charged me to cover the crew's time. The crew at Mike's Fences did an amazing job. Let me begin by saying that we had a fence put in last summer, summer 2024, by Mike's Fences. Fast forward to now, I made a mistake and forgot to get the permit inspection done by the city. So the city made me dig up the footers to expose them to get the permit signed off. Mike's Fences was willing to come out and dig the footers out for me, free of cost. They came out, dug them out, very quickly. The city has now signed off and all is good. Almost perfect. The process involved a bit more back-and-forth communication than anticipated, but everything came together at the end.

I originally came across Mike's Fences due to the beautiful horizontal wood fences through the example projects. We have a huge front yard, but none of it is enclosed, so we wanted to get a new fence to replace our short backyard fence as well as acquire usable front yard space for gardening and our dogs. Connor was quick to come over to field the project, and spent a good amount of time with us going over the project specifics, ideas, and stayed to take measurements. Once we were cleared to start working, everything moved fairly quickly. Overall, the experience for Mike's Fences was phenomenal. The resulting fence is gorgeous, and we couldn't be happier. Jesús, the on site lead, was instrumental to the success of this project. I can't thank the crew enough for constantly going above and beyond with different elements of this project. All of their recommendations were spot on, and factored in things I didn't. And even later down the line in the project, it was suggested we make adjustments to the old wood façade of the house to be more in line with the new fence, which was an incredible idea. Although that change even involved redoing an entire gate to follow the same line created by the fence height. All done without question and without additional charge. Connor and the team helped deliver against every request I had and I think the results speak for themselves. We have already had several people driving by stop us to tell us how beautiful it looks, and we're just happy to reclaim more of our home. On top of everything, Connor helped source some additional redwood which they were able to cut to size so we could build our own garden beds for our front yard. This review is long overdue but will speak to the quality and craftsmanship you can expect from Mike's. We had a custom Garapa plank fence installed around our AC unit in October 2019, which still looks and functions as new, almost two years later (the attached photos were taken today, 7/19/21). Connor and his team were great to work with - they answered all of our questions promptly, explained their process, and followed up after the job was complete to ensure we were completely satisfied. One side of our fence is detachable to allow access to our AC unit and I'm happy to report the latch system still works flawlessly.
