Eric Liebert worked with us to replace an old rusty wrought iron fence around our pool. I also took bids from two other local fence companies. I chose Irvine Fence because their price was lowest and I had a good experience with them earlier in the year replacing a redwood fence on our property boundary. Eric was very helpful answering my many questions and making sure our choice complied with local codes for pool fences. We also had a hand rail built along steps up a hill on our property. Before installation we had to remove/trim some trees and bushes. Eric made an extra inspection trip afterwards to make sure installation could proceed. The finished product exceeded my expectations. The new fence looks great and seems to be made of much sturdier material than the old one. The installation crew was very professional and easy to communicate with. They immediately repaired an underground irrigation pipe they damaged while digging. We had our fence replaced by Irvine Fence Inc. in April 2025, with Peter serving as the project manager. Unfortunately, our experience working with him was less than satisfactory. Shortly after installation, we noticed a damaged piece of wood on the newly installed gate (see photo below). When we brought it to Peter's attention--just two weeks after spending over $13,000 on the project--he claimed it wasn't covered under warranty and dragging his feet to replace it. Thankfully, after contacting the office manager, Veronica, the issue was resolved promptly. However, we still feel it's important to share our experience to help others make an informed decision when choosing a company for their fencing project. Peter did not call or text me when the job was completed, which meant I had no opportunity to inspect the work while the contractors were still on-site. He later claimed they knocked on the door but received no answer. I was home at the time and didn't hear anything. A simple call or text would have ensured proper communication. When I reported the issue with a defective piece of wood on the gate, Peter initially stated the material wasn't covered under warranty--even though it had been installed just a few days prior. He later agreed to replace the wood, but failed to follow through. Below is a timeline of our text exchanges (also screen shots below): 4/2/25 (Wednesday): Fence installation completed 4/12 (Saturday): I texted Peter to report the gate issue 4/14 (Monday): Peter replied, saying he would come by Tuesday to inspect 4/15 (Tuesday): No show, no call. I texted him at 6 PM; he responded that he would come Thursday 4/17 (Thursday): Again, no show, no call. I texted at 6 PM--no reply 4/18 (Friday): Peter agreed to come by and did show up. He promised to resolve the issue the following week 4/19-4/25: No follow-up, no communication 4/25 (Friday): I texted Peter--no response 4/28 (Monday): I texted again--no response 4/29 (Tuesday): I contacted the office to formally report the issue This pattern of poor communication and unfulfilled promises left us frustrated, especially given the cost of the project. Split the invoice in two so each of us could have house records and got his install team out in just a couple days. The guys on site were also great (and José came out with them to run over everything with them in person). They came across a random pipes buried between our property line (neighbors and us still have no clue what that pipe does or who it belongs to) but no damage was done to it. They cleaned up the area to just how it was before they arrived. Other than a new fence you'd never know they were there.
