I ordered takeout curry my son loved so much and ate in with their shrimp lobster sauce while I was waiting. It was so good I had to give their fried wontons a shot and it didn't disappoint. For sure I'm getting their curry again and will go back to try other things in a day or two lol We are picky eaters and this was our first time trying this place after 8 years. This place is a gem!!! So glad we found this place! Apparently they've been around the area for 6 years now. We were looking for Chinese food that's not necessarily for to-go but wasn't looking for anything fancy either, and boy oh boy are we glad to have found So China Restaurant! There were plenty of parking the plaza is huge and can accomodate. The place itself has no frills. Bare minimun decor with their green walls. There is a counter where you order food and large print menu on the wall. They also have brochures for menu too. Other than that, there are only 3-4 tables and a line of chairs for people who are waiting for their food. We ordered the orange beef and salt and pepper pork chops, both came with rice. While we were waiting for the food, we received a surprisingly nice and crunchy appetizer. It was crispy wonton skin with sweet and sour sauce. It was delicious! Not long after, the food came out; they make these fresh so it does take a bit of time. The wait was definitely worth it! They gave us paper plates and utensils to enjoy the meal. The honey beef is amazing! it was perfectly coated in the orange sauce and it was still crispy and so delicious with rice! The salt and pepper pork chops were deep fried perfection! it was coated perfectly in crunchy breading and small pieces of spices and garlic. The portion is more than fair considering the price. And of course they don't mess with the flavors either. This is what we've been looking for this whole time! We don't need too much frills and all that. just plain old good Chinese food. It was so comforting and satisfying, We couldn't finish everything so we took a good portion home for tomorrow's lunch. They don't have free water here, not sure if maybe their beverage machine was out of order and they don't want to serve tap water? You can get either bottled water or soda or arizona tea. The owner/cook is so kind and their prices are reasonable. I wouldn't go anywhere else for Chinese food. They are usually closed on Tuesdays only so I make sure I do my errands on Wednesday but I see they are closed today (Wed) too, so that is upsetting... I've had So China twice at home and today I decided to stop by and pick it up myself. When you first walk in the restaurant it's bright and clean. Their menu is easy to read, I liked to self order and check out screen they provide. As I sat and waited for my food, I can't help but notice the lady working the front counter. She's fast & precise. She answered the phone quickly, accepted orders asap and was very kind with the customers that came in for pick up. She was extremely patient with an older gentleman who had trouble finding the details for his order. She never rushed him or gave him attitude. That was lovely to see. She even ran out to find a customer when she noticed something was missing from their bag. Talk about commitment lol! this is my favorite restaurant in town. I've been coming to so China probably once a month for the past 3-4 years and the orange tofu is so amazing. They are my go-to for takeout birthday dinner or special occasions. I think the ownership has changed and I do miss the old tofu recipe, but the new one is alright too. Okay I have been on the hunt to find the PERFECT cream cheese wontons and today I came across the best wontons yet!! I devoured them so fast that I didn't take a picture! I visit Temecula for work and I always order from So China on door dash. I finally had some extra time and stopped in and it confirms why I love this place so much. The staff is so incredibly kind, the food is made fresh, and I'm pretty sure the Honey Walnut shrimp is a small addiction of mine at this point. It's tucked away in the shopping center but completely worth stopping in. You get a big plate of food that usually is two meals for me and they have a heavy hand when it comes to portions. My wife and I are big fans of Chinese food so we wanted to try So China as it is the closest to our home. As we entered we were met with warm smiles and friendly greetings. We ordered a couple of our regular dishes as we do in other Chinese restaurants for comparison. The Hot and Sour soup was as good or better than most. Excellent flavor while not over bearing and a light spicy heat. Also, full of the filling that goes into H&S soup. The Vegetable Chow Mein was very flavorful and cooked to a good consistency but was little light on the vegetables which is why they didn't get a 5 on the rating. The Vegetable Egg Rolls had a very crispy shell and good flavor. And finally, General Tso's Chicken which was very good. Our order was to go and came out in less than 10 minutes and was still hot when we got home. We were told that the restaurant has been under new management as of Sept,2025 so if you see any old reviews that are not positive, take that into account.
