SoCal Kitesurfing is an incredible organization to join a community and learn the action adventure spot. Bart and his team and well trained, talented, and some even professional kite surfing instructors. They have an abundance of gear and knowledge and cater to folks of all lessons. My boyfriend and I chose to do a 6 hour class and ended up receiving an additional 2 hour water start lesson due to a stingray incident completely outside of the schools control. We are now hooked on the sport and love the community it comes with.

I had an awesome kitesurfing lesson in long beach with SoCal kitesurfing! I would definitely recommend SoCal kitesurfing to anyone ready to have fun in the sun!

I encountered SoCal Kitesurfing via livingsocial and my friends and I quickly hopped on it. What wasn't specified was that we were doing the discovery course. However, once you fly the kites in windy Long Beach, you do realize that no way is it possible for a beginner to steady a kite at a specific angle to capture the wind while balancing on a board on the waves that are constantly crashing. Also, from looking up at the kite for long periods of time, you don't mind that the lessons can't be longer; we all had neck cramps the next day. Our instructor was encouraging and patient though not too personable. But then again I'm pretty sure he wasn't interested at all in our girl talks, that'd be hilarious. Bart however is super friendly and ecstatic. My friends both had two vouchers each from livingsocial and Bart was kind enough to let them combine to upgrade their lessons. So I got to watch them fly bigger kites and don on wetsuits while the instructor and the kites literally dragged them across the waves (no boards yet, just walking huge kite to water and letting it fly and pull you in the water). HAHA It was really cool trying something new and I would definitely like to possibly pursue kitesurfing in the future. ps: there's a parking lot right where they sit around. Dollar for an hour; only quarters accepted. Or there's parallel parking.. but I'm miserable at it o:)

Do you know where we can practice kite surfing in orange county? ive already takena lesson but wanted to practice more before i go into the water.

There are no beginner beaches in OC. Belmont Shore is the only beach allowed to practice on the beach if you can manage the kite safely. It's just north of seal beach in southern long beach, LA County. That is the local kite beach. When you are…

I came back to Huntington Beach 2 weeks later with my boys and booked private lessons for all 3 of us per recommedation from the owners. They matched the instructors with each of us very well. Mine was 6'3" and could easily handle holding my board and helping me figure it out. My 10 yr old instructor had him surfing within 45min on day 1. The young lady instructing my 7yr old adjusted board, and had him up and surfing on day 2. At 56, with 3 knee injuries, including a torn meniscus, was able to stand up finally on day 3, 4 times, in some frothy (yet not too big) waves. The beach area is an ideal learning platform as it has no rocks, coral, or other obstructions underwater except lots of hard packed sand. In the end we had a special father & sons memory of learning to surf together. We were all successful. We had an amazing time, and the staff could not have been more helpful, encouraging, and supportive. I highly recommend private lessons, because I feel like the ROI is 90+% with private lessons, and about 45-55% with group lessons. IMO group lessons can be good later on as refresher.

I think they were fine with me being even closer but I stayed a little further away so my child would really focus on them. Also, it was his first surf lesson so I didn't want to miss it! What I saw had me grinning the entire time. When my son wanted to push the limits and travel a little too far out where I was ready to run in after him, instructors were pulling the kids back. They had their eyes on him. And there was a dedicated staff member standing on the beach keeping their eyes on the entire group whenever they were in the water. And it was amazing to see my kid stand up on the board for the first time ever. And the way he jumped and kept going - it was clear he was SO happy the entire time. Not my kid, but there was clearly a little one who was not comfortable with the waves. I don't know the full story, but what I saw was an instructor holding that child the ENTIRE camp in the water. That kid got to be as close to the water as they were comfortable, the instructors never sat her aside to play in the sand, they were clearly trying to get her comfortable and making sure she had some water experience. Props to you all for investing in every child at every level. Props to the instructors, we hope to return if schedules allow this summer. The only request I have is to put kids in bright orange/yellow/green rash guards instead of the blue ones. It was easy to see the instructors in the orange, but I would feel better if we could REALLY see the kids from the sand in water safe colors. That's it - THANK YOU again for a great day. My son really loved it and was so proud of what he accomplished in that short time with you.
