Today I brought in 4 1/2 bins of recyclables, was paid $25.25. The young guy just wrote o his clipboard every time each bin gets weighed . I believe there is cheating here. There was nothing to indicate on the scale how much exactly the recyclables weighed . We are at the mercy of this person. He was rude to me, but was helpful to people[le of his ethnicity, for same issues ( apparently there were about 2 glass bottles on the 2 orange bins that was settled on the very bottom , he asked I separate them, so my bins were pushed to the side. Next customer appeared to have same issues but he helped her and dugged down his hand to locate the bottle. My transaction was on hold, I could not get any empty bin available cause the homeless helper was not cooperative with me. Once I started to try to find the bottles, the contents of the bin accidentally fell out half of its contents. So the plastic bottles were all over the place, and majority went under the truck , I cant bend down , I have severe back injury , this owner kept kicking all the plastic bottles on the ground , he said the bottles was on his way, but it spread all over because he kicked all the bottles pn the ground . He was rude, he provoked me to get very aggressive , he is a scammer cause we top not know if he was giving us the right pay. read more

Had been going here for years, but recently they have new workers & yesterday was the last straw. Rude, unhelpful & downright aggresive. It was my turn, but before I could put my bin on the scale, the other worker dumped it. Instead of apologizing, he started yelling that I didn't have my bin in the right place. This just wasn't true & instead of the other worker putting him in check, he did nothing, but tell me not to worry about it. Very sullen, unfriendly place now. Will never go back! 1 star is a big stretch. read more

The Glendale recycling center was full so I came here for the first time today (Saturday). Location: The top floor of the Macy's parking lot (Eagle Rock Plaza) on the right hand side. What to do: 1. Grab an orange bin and sort your cans, plastic bottles, and plastic containers. If you have glass bottles, use the blue bins. 2. Put your bins on the scale 3. Sign your name on their clipboard and get cash Pros: -lots of parking available -there was a young guy working who helped answer my questions and was really friendly Cons: -tons of bees/wasps circling around the cans today -one of the workers (older guy at the cash register) was really rude and had no customer service skills. He started throwing my cans in the trash without an explanation. When I asked the younger worker why (because the cans said there was a CA cash refund), he told me that they don't accept those cans but other places do. The younger guy helped me to get all my cans that the rude, older guy dumped without even asking my permission. Overall, it's a convenient location. I'm glad to recycle and get some money while doing it. My experience was overall positive except for my interaction with the guy running the register. read more

Followed a disabled man on a wheelchair with a clear disability to do anything on his own. I admired the man, but when I noticed he was struggling, salivating and having a clear neuro / cognitive disability I felt compelled to help. The gentleman working here WITH NO OTHER PEOPLE TO TEND TO BUT HIM DID NOT VOLUNTEER TO HELP, he instead gave him his back and got on his phone!! Just like it's seen on a photo here. Not okay. I immediately jumped out of my car, I asked him if he had gloves, he nonchalantly said no and gave me his back again. This is NOT OKAY. I basically did it all for the poor man and made sure he was paid accurately. Someone like this can't be trusted. I am following up with a complaint to the corporate office. read more

I've read some recent posts, and I think we must have had the same rude, aggressive man treat us poorly. A few weeks ago, I went to the one on Colorado Blvd. I've been going there for a couple of years now. It's in a convenient location next to the closed Macy's. I didn't know it closed at 4:00 PM, I didn't know the time, and I got there at 3:50 PM. I was in my truck ordering some food for takeout and I heard a noise outside, but I didn't think much of it. The noise got louder; it was a whistling. A short, middle-aged man was standing in front and to the side of my truck and was aggressively yelling at me. He was tapping his finger on his watch and was yelling at me to hurry. I was so flustered, I stopped ordering my food and jumped out my truck. He was still yelling at me to hurry because they were going to close. I yelled to him, "what time do you close?". Then I thought about how he was treating me, and I cussed him out. I must have dropped the "F-Bomb" every other word. I yelled at him that if he wanted to get my attention, he should have knocked on my window, not whistle or yell at me. I yelled at him that I was treating him the same why he treated me. The other work didn't say a word and just sat down with his head down. I was scolded/told it was 3:52 PM, so I started to hurry. Why was I hurrying? This man disturbed my peace. I cussed him out again and said I don't need to recycle here, there are other places. I know my mouth was bad, but F him at that location. I went to a place on Figueroa Street the next day. read more

They are a little slow when the truck comes. That's natural but a quick "we'll be with you in a moment" goes a long way. So does please, thank you, and you're welcome. The review was going to be more positive but my last visit changed this. The people working there when I went were thuggish and had that macho attitude that is so prevalent in LA. I felt like I was walking into a gangbanger controlled neighborhood going there. Where's my gun? Crap, I'm not packing! Hope I don't get shot! They don't weigh your recyclables where you can see the weight of the items anymore, like they used to. Funny, right? They also don't list the weight of the weighing containers for tare purposes anymore either except for aluminum or plastic. They weigh the containers quickly so pray the dude is honest and pays you what you took in since will probably have the scale facing the other way and won't let you see it. Also I asked for my plastics to be paid out individually. They did not. From the State of California recycling website: "Consumers also have the option of being paid on a per-container basis if they bring in 50 or fewer CRV containers of each material type. Recycling centers are required to comply with this request." Yeah. That did not happen. "What? No. Weight only." "But it says..." "WEIGHT ONLY!" Ok don't shoot me bro! A year ago, this was a four star review, but I never finished it. Amazing how four stars can turn into one based on people's crappy attitudes and shadiness. Take your business elsewhere. I usually go in the mornings so its rarely crowded. I like it because it is quick, easy, and nothing wrong with the service. Having a Target there to get some shopping errands done at the same time is a plus as well. As for the return rate, I can't comment too much since I'm not a pro on how to maximize at Recycling establishments. However what I get back seems fair enough. If I feel I'm getting shorted in the future I'll be changing my rating/updating my review, and going somewhere else. read more

I usually go to Altadena recycling center on Lincoln. Never again, they have no parking they are not accommodating they wanted us to park on the street about a block away and then carry the bags to be counted. So we left and went to SoCal recycling center in Eagle Rock, a much more pleasant experience. There was no wait, plenty of parking, and the service was friendly. They willingly answered all questions. I will gladly drive the extra miles to take my recycling there. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because we could not find the location the address says 2700 but I think it's really 2900, it's on the upper level next to Macy's. read more

Not much info dropped on you upon arrival, nor assistance offered (even though they have a tip jar). I showed up a little after they opened on a Tuesday morning, announced it was my first time, tried to make chit chat, however neither of those two things resulted in further engagement. I was just told to separate my things and put them in the canisters...there didn't seem to be any restrictions or monitoring of the canisters to ensure I wasn't adding anything I wasn't supposed to. They didn't accept my cardboard but my glass, cans, and plastic was all aok. My stuff was weighed, I was paid, and off I went. read more

It's a convenient place to take your bottles for recycling. However, the staff has terrible customer service. The one guy who was sorting out my things for recycling said to me "we don't take that" when he saw my pineapple juice cans. And they have their tip jar out as if they expect a tip. I will give them a tip. They should treat their customers nicer. I almost forgot, there was a lady customer before me who was upset how they were treating her. So I am not the only one complaining about their customer service. read more

Keep in mind, this is just a shipping container parked on the upper deck of a parking garage at a mall. It's a recycling center, not a hospital. Don't expect it to be clean. Usually smells like stale beer. Occasional Yellowjackets hang around in summer. The attendants are not real talkative, but are not rude or surly either. These guys weight fast and move you through quickly. It's hard to keep up if you're trying to read the weights. I come every 3-4 weeks, and I've only "felt" shorted once. It happens, I payed more attention after that. The usual attendant seems to remember me, but as I stated, he's not a real conversationalist. Still, he's nice, fair, and I like him. I try to come early in the day to avoid waiting and beat the heat. read more
