We found Greg and SoCal Renovations on Yelp because we have a 20+ year old cast iron sink that we wanted to replace with a stainless steel sink, and we weren't ready to replace the granite. It was hard to find someone willing to entertain removing the sink because there is always that risk that they could break the granite. But we wanted the new sink so we decided to take the chance, especially since Greg told me that he had removed 5-6 of these before on more expensive stone. He also would not guarantee that he wouldn't break the granite but based on his experience, it was highly unlikely. We took the chance because we were sick of our old sink. Despite this being a relatively small job, Greg came when he said he would and treated us like a major renovation project. Vince and Greg removed the old sink and had the new stainless one put in within 2-3 hours. I didn't watch but we had an undermount sink which they must have removed the seal on and then, the wood reinforcements. He found me a new stainless, single basin sink which we absolutely love. I purchased a Kohler pro faucet to complete the industrial sink look. I can't believe how much room is in the sink and under the sink. There was a minor thing that occurred but Greg took care of it the next day. He and Vince do quality work, and I would not necessitate to recommend them or use them again. read more

We did not have a good experience with this company. Our remodel was plagued with endless problems and delays. Even when it finally finished, I was left with things that were not done correctly, that I ended up just accepting because I didn't want workers in my house anymore tearing it apart to redo. If you do decide to use this company, don't let Gustavo and whoever is working with him at the moment, paint your house. Him and his team made significant errors, and we have brand new paint that's peeling because he did not prep correctly, and it's obvious that he didn't use two coats like my contract specified. I also watched, and no two coats were ever applied. When I would ask, I would get some vague response or just blown off. When I approached Greg, he would just tell me that he trusted Gustavo. Big mistake. I also had brand new carpet installed by Greg's team.....it's already coming loose. There's no excuse for any of this. We lived in our last house for 10 years with zero of these issues.....we also take very good care of our properties. I trusted them with a job, paid for the job, had a contract.....I ended up feeling like I needed to watch everything and babysit, because no one else was paying attention. When I would bring up concerns, they were never taken seriously.....in the end, it was proved that my concerns were valid, and that things were completed incorrectly because no one paid attention to my concerns. I brought my concerns to Greg in advance, if he had listened and intervened, the mistakes would have been corrected before it was too late. To Greg's credit, he offered to fix them, but it would require literally tearing apart windows in every room, and extensive woodwork in another room. We had already been displaced for a year, sleeping on floors, renting storage unit, etc. we were done. He told us 1-2 months to get the job done, and it was far from that. If he would have listened to me when I initially noticed and pointed out the issue with the windows, painting and wood work, we wouldn't have ever been in that situation to begin with. But he didn't intervene, and they got painted and finished with all the mistakes. My advice, would be to hire out each thing you need done in your home separately to companies that specialize in each thing. That way, maybe there would be some more accountability, and someone to go to if things are getting off track. read more

I called up SoCal Renovations on a recommendation from our neighbor for cleaning up some serious water damage to the kitchen walls, cabinets, flooring, master bath, sun room bath, as well as a full remodel to the guest bathroom. Most of the damage had been dried out prior, with nothing left but bare studs in many places. Greg and team certainly had their work cutout for them. My wife and I did most of the designing work with the help of Maria at Gramar Stone, as well as leaning on Greg for his vast experience. Let me just say that Greg and his entire team are an incredible and talented bunch of people to work with. All were very warm and welcoming, excellent and skilled craftsman. To start things off we had Alex with some demo, drywall, mud, and electrical. Talk about one of the nicest, cleanest (tidy), and well-spoken human beings we've had the pleasure of working with. Alex always, always picked up and cleaned up everything, laid plastic down wherever he went, and did it all with a great attitude. We also had Jose and his team to re-do our solid hardwood maple flooring in many areas. Excellent work throughout the house getting the flooring to match and lay perfectly. Next we had the Joel's to float the showers, work on the drains, and lay tons of tile. I would stress they were also extremely clean, thorough, and very polite. Some, if not the best, tile workers I have ever seen. Every tile was cut perfectly to size, no jagged edges, and all straight and true. During the time Alex was around we also had a few plumbers, Dave, Andy, and Andy. They were also extremely kind, cared for our house and property as their own, as well as very skilled at what they do. Dave made sure to replace any old cast iron drains that were exposed, as well as any gas lines that ran into the foundation. To top it off he gave very sound structural advice and support to some pretty hefty termite damage that we had encountered. Last, but not least was Vince. Vince is like your old buddy that you've known since high school. Very easy going and nice to talk and work with. Vince is known as the finisher. He came to install all of our cabinetry, fixtures, and handles throughout the kitchen and bath. Impeccable work throughout! Thanks, Vince! Although we had quite a few delays and bumps along the road, Greg never faltered or wavered, stuck to his word, his pricing, and always, I mean always responded to each and every text message and phone call. No matter how busy he was, he always had the time to listen to any concerns or questions. Without hesitation I would recommend Greg and his incredible team to tackle any job. Not one day did they leave the job (which you know can be a messy, dusty, mess) without cleaning, dusting, and getting rid of all evidence that work had been done. We have also utilized this company when it came to performing some reconstruction on the outside of our home; including, patio overhand with tongue and groove insets and placement of recessed lighting, installation of shutters on upper detail, overall repairs on outside of home, followed by power washing and painting, and hardware installation. Again, the work was superb, clean, detailed, and finished as promised. I would never hesitate to recommend this company and have several times. Unfortunately, our experience with So Cal Renovations did not go well. I do not recommend them. We had a jack and jill bath remodeled and a hall cabinet built by them. Greg the owner and main contractor just coordinates different craftsmen for each portion of the job, tile, plumbing, flooring, countertop, and cabinets. The hall cabinet was installed and had several problems to where we are unable to keep and use. It was to be a tall cabinet butting up against the ceiling in a corner. The inside of the top half of cabinet did not rest without a gap on the bottom portion. The side of the bottom cabinet had a really nice face board but the top portion only had part of the face board and then a filler, so it was very inconsistent. It looked like the measurements had been wrong and so they were filling in the space since it did not fit. The top of the cabinet had a filler between the cabinet and crown molding which when you looked from left to right it's height decreased in size so it was crooked. We had to point this out to them as it looked aesthetically wrong and needed to be corrected. The problem was the ceiling was not perfect but that should have been caught in measurements and installation and adjustments made to fit to this and look good. In addition, the side fillers next to the cabinet doors were inconsistent, flush on one side and not on the other. It looked like a patchwork. It just looked like it was patched in too many places to make it work. The vanities put in the bathrooms were beautiful and they turned out nicely. The men who installed the quartz counter tops were efficient, timely and did a great job. The plumber was extremely helpful, timely and did a great job. The flooring men did a fairly good job, however when they put the closet doors back in, they were nailed into the wrong position making the sliding closet doors at a slant, this was not noticed by the flooring installers or Greg, only us when we went to use the closet and then had to have it repaired. Thus, lack of attention on both of their parts. We had an issue of the bullnose tiles for the shower were delayed. So, instead of stalling the drywall repair around the shower, the drywall was repaired around the shower leaving a gap for the bullnose to be installed. This caused further problems with a huge gap and then drywallers had to come out another time to fix. I think this error falls on Greg as he should have put job on hold so that tile and drywall could have been done in correct order. Then unfortunately the drywallers did not verify wall was level as after job was complete we went to hang a towel hook rack and the wall is bowed so much we can't put it on the wall. Obviously, some walls aren't perfect but this is an error too large to be able to hang the rack at all. The lack of attention to detail on some of the workers and Greg is very upsetting as this isn't quality work. And we had to find most errors and ones that aren't even that small. Quality control was not done here. When the vanity lights were installed Greg and Vince thought the walls or bar were uneven and wondering how to attach the lights and keep affixed to the wall. It turns out that the wires were just bunched up behind the light bar and needed to be tucked in and then it was perfectly flush against the wall. This was quoted as a 2- week job and it took 5 weeks. The tile was delayed by about 10 days. 2 cabinet doors were "lost" and were finally installed at the end of the 5 weeks. The absolute most disappointing part of this whole process was the lack of concern, lack of accountability, lack of apology for delays and errors on Greg's part. There was no sense of urgency or mention of sorry this took much longer that estimated. We ordered the wrong shower head and we went to the trouble to rush the order to get the next day so that we were not delaying anything. At one point we thought the flooring we ordered wasn't going to arrive on time, so we were willing to go select another one that would be ready to be installed if necessary. I just can't recommend this company due to all these issues as I wouldn't want anyone else to have a similar experience. Some of the work turned out great but not all of it. read more

We recently had a wall unit/media center built-in installed by SoCal Renovations in our Family Room. They did a excellent job and we are beyond pleased with how it turned out. We had recently purchased a New Build home and we loved the built in that the model home had installed, but the developer was charging an arm and a leg for this upgrade. SoCal Renovation was not only able to do this for much cheaper than the developer, but the end product is better quality than what the developer would have installed. I'm surprised there aren't reviews for this company. So Cal Renovations is outstanding! I lost a cabinet due to water damage and contacted them for a quote. Greg responded quickly and came out to verify the dimensions and measurements. I had sent him some pictures of the old cabinet and told him about a few improvements I wanted to make.
