It's a large box, tons of space and equipment to accommodate the larger class sizes. Open gym had plenty of slots as well, so if you want to check out a crossfit gym, this is a good contender. The reason I did not stay though was simply that it was not a good fit for the type of gym I was looking for - and that's okay. That has no reflection on the rating I'm giving, it was just more serious than I was looking for. If that's your vibe, you'll probably enjoy this place, I just prefer something a lot more laid back. What I will take a start off for is due to a couple of members who were a bit rude to me for just working out near them. It's a big gym but when you need a rig, you go where's there's space, so that wasn't great. And there's a good amount of plates that are broken and beaten up, way more than any other gym I've been too. That isn't a reflection on the owners, but more so the members as multiple classes had the coach ask people not to drop the lighter plates and it would still happen, thus the cracking. Other than that, the coach was good, owner is very passionate about it which is great to see, still a good place to check out.

Every single one of these members is awesome. Every single coach is awesome. Insanely helpful guiding me through techniques and good practices. Steve has come by me many times in the gym, before hip surgery of course, giving me pointers on thruster, butterfly pull-ups, muscle ups, etc... All of this to say if you're looking to get into crossfit or want to take the next step to be even more serious about it, this is definitely the place to go to! This gym is a place of healing and motivation for every one of those moments in life. In my short time here, my one month membership was welcome. (Only passing through.) There are cross fit athletes, parents that need some movement, high school athletes in teen classes, managers trying fitness for the first time, and everything in between. The coaches have modifications for every exercise. You push your time if you want. Lifting. You work on what you want to work on. All the while, being surrounded by amazing people doing the same thing. I meet new gym friends every class. This is that place you've been looking for, to get your body moving.

I attended CrossFit Local (CFL) for the better part of two years, during which time I attended…read moreabout 175 classes. I liked it a lot at first but now have more mixed feelings, and recently switched to another gym. It's a nice facility, lots of space with high ceilings and big fans, and easy access to the back parking lot for running and any other outdoor exercises. It's clean and has great equipment (maybe aside from the bikes, which aren't used in workouts anyway). Everything is maintained very well. The coaching at CFL is terrific. Members get lots of individual attention even in the group setting, with good instruction about proper technique and plenty of encouragement when the going gets tough. Classes typically start with an icebreaker and a thorough warmup. CFL also has a good member community. It's a friendly and supportive environment. Class sizes are very reasonable -- a typical class might have anywhere from 5 to 8 people. Rarely did I feel cramped during workouts, even when the classes are bigger. The programming has more of a focus on strength than conditioning. There's a particularly heavy emphasis on the Olympic lifting and powerlifting. Each class has a conditioning aspect as well, but some other CrossFit gyms offer more in this regard. In general, the workouts lack the variety of movements that I've seen at other gyms. Not much core work, for example, and no bike work as noted above. So while you will definitely get strong if you go to CFL, it's not the most well-rounded exercise experience in my opinion. It really just depends on what you want. In terms of COVID-related safety precautions, nobody there seems to care very much. The classes usually occur indoors even when the weather is nice. Members are welcome to do it outside if they prefer (which may or may not be practical depending on the workout), but most people just do it inside, with no real effort to social distance or anything like that. In that sense, it's kind of like this weird alternate reality world where COVID doesn't exist, or at least isn't a big deal. If you're not that concerned about it and don't want to be inconvenienced by preventative measures, then this could be the place for you while other gyms have more restrictions in place. But if you are concerned about it, I recommend staying away for the time being.

The reason for 3 stars is the communication between the students and the teacher is very spotty and some times we show up for our class and the doors are locked and no one is there. I know that if my form is not good, they will not allow me to continue on without correcting it first. The space is great with lots of light, open room to spread out, a full arsenal of equipment and a 'Big Ass Fan'. I receive all the benefits of weight lifting and the program is varied yet structured to maximize your fitness gains. Since I started seven months ago, many of my lifts have improved upwards of 30 Lbs. They also offer a nutrition program.
